You’re absolutely right he’s extremely humble! I’m from Philadelphia and I have seen him in public twice after his retirement. One time he walked in to see an old skool concert at the Philadelphia convention center and the crowd went absolutely WILD! They asked him to come up to the stage to speak and he cried in the middle of his speech as he was thanking everyone for the love he was receiving as if he couldn’t believe it! This man changed the game in many ways, definitely one of the GREATEST EVER!

I’ve been a lifelong Laker fan, having lived through the Showtime, Shaq, and Kobe eras in Southern California. From the very beginning, I could sense that Kobe was unlike anyone else. While he’s revered uniquely in Los Angeles, what truly astounds me is that his fiercest defenders are often his fiercest rivals. Popovich, Suns fans, and Celtics fans (including Bird and Russell) come to Kobe’s defense in a way that completely caught me off guard after years of rivalry. In today’s polarized society, I have immense respect for that.
AI is perhaps the best example (his letter to Kobe broke my heart) and MJs eulogy not far behind. Game sees game no matter if you’re a rival fan, one of the greatest coaches in history, or the greatest player.
BTW: this conversation isn’t about LeBron vs MJ as GOAT. It’s specifically about Kobe being dismissed entirely from the debate. AI, along with most who actually played in the association, has a real issue with that. They ain’t worried about Jordan’s legacy, which is all but untouchable.

Kobe's 2008-2010 postseason runs are all-time incredible because of the number of 50+/55+/60+ teams he beat to win those rings. Only Hakeem's teams and the Shaq+Kobe teams matched that in a postseason, if I remember correctly. Nike hyped up a Kobe v LeBron 2009 Finals but LeBron fell short in some crucial ways (such as 4th quarter turnovers, letting his defensive assignment go off on a scoring streak late in the game, etc) in the 2009 ECF and quit in the 2010 ECSF.
It's taken a Klutch Sports media takeover to revise history and make people forget what happened pre-2016.

Why Lebron is better than Jordan. The GOAT BAHHHHHH
1 - Because he won a playoff series without a HOF teammate. He beat a Superteam (3 HOF’S) in a playoff series.
2 - 1 had 10 scoring titles, taking 30 shots per game (Lebron passed him in total FGA in year 20?), and 1 has scored 40,000 points and is 4th all time in Assists, passing Magic Johnson.
3 - He never had a teammate who leads him, ALL TIME in Assists, Rebounds, Blocks, 3 pointers and top 10 with in him Steals - ALL TIME PLAYOFFS in, Assists, Rebounds, Blocks and Steals.
4 - 6 final losses EXCUSES in context.
Got his team to the finals at 22 without a HOF teammate.
Played worst superstar series ever, lost to Mavs who swept the defending champs.
Been to 3 straight finals curse in the 4th year egs Piston, Bulls, Lakers, Heat.
Lost his 2 starters to injuries.
Last 3 MVPs (2014,15,16) together on 73 win team that was 3 pts away from bac to bac champs.
5 - 6’9’ 260+ he’s Bigger, Stronger, Faster, more Durable and Versatile. Can play 4 positions.
6 - He led both teams in a playoff final in Points, Assists, Rebounds, Blocks and Steals. TWICE.
7 - His teammates including the ones that got traded ALWAYS got paid e.g timothy mosdgov.
8 - Played with his son , and 1st to make a billion whilst playing.
9 - Only player top 100 in 6 cat - Points, Assists, Rebounds, Blocks and Steals, 3 pointers made.
10 - He played 20 years at the top without breaks, getting to Conf finals in 20th, and playoffs 21st .
Fu8k the ‘Jordan rules’ What sound does goat’s make

In my opinion, i believe Kobe was never thought of as a number #2 to Michael Jordan for a few reasons. Reason number one, Kobe stats aren't the greatest, 5 championships yes but, only one regular season MVP is always held against him in the media. Two, the SA charge, once that happened, people began to turn on Kobe and he could never do anything to regain the image that people loved him for. Three, Kobe never came into the league as himself, meaning, he literally did his best to copy everything Michael Jordan did and i'm not blaming him for that because overall, he was the closest thing to Jordan, athlete wise but, we really never got a chance to see who Kobe really was as a genuine player and person. I myself never liked Kobe, i thought he was the best worst shot taker in the league during his time but, i could never take away from his accomplishments and 5 chips is greater than 4 and he did it with the team that drafted him.
Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul Jabaar, and Bill Russell, are in a room by themselves, everyone else is on the outside looking in.
