    The reason Hiccup lost his leg is because Toothless bit it off when they were both falling at the end (in order to catch him in time since he couldn't fly properly). If you go back and watch the scene Hiccup is falling headfirst with his legs towards Toothless' mouth. Like you said it parallels the beginning of the movie where Hiccup injures him.

    • @thepoeticminecart
      @thepoeticminecart 21 день назад

      Thats actually been proven false. It was just burned beyond saving

    • @saramckenna9008
      @saramckenna9008 20 дней назад +3

      @@thepoeticminecartwhere was it confirmed? It makes more sense for toothless to have caught him with his mouth, leading to hiccups foot to be mangled/amputated, rather than his foot be burned beyond saving. His whole body should’ve been burned beyond saving if his foot was. There’s no way only his left foot got that bad burnt that it needed to be amputated, considering the fact that Toothless protected him and his whole body. If anything, his top half should’ve been more injured by the fire since he was falling headfirst.

    Toothless shows how smart he is in several occasions. But two of them stick out for me the most. First when he's teasing Astrid, he stops flying to rough when Astrid says she's sorry for reacting the way she did, the second when Stoick says he's sorry after the explosion, right after Toothless unwraps his wings to show he could save Hiccup from the fall and the fire. He proves that he knows what is regret and asking for forgiveness, as well proves that he can forgive.

    41:24 That's the reason Toothless is really scary. For some reason, many people pay attention to his cute appearance, but completely forget his description from the book of dragons. He dropped to the ground a dragon that was 15-20 times bigger and heavier than him, who also stood firmly on all four legs, with one shot. If you start to look into the details, then you realize that Toothless is a damn scary combat unit.

    You’d be surprised how much that tail matters in flight- it helps with turning, balance, and without those fins aerial maneuvers that the Night Fury uses to attack would be impossible. That one missing flap completely throws off the necessary balance used for flying and putting air under its body, therefore landing Toothless flightless. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk ^^
    Edit: “it’s gotta be a baby version” nope! That is a 15 year old Night Fury, and as far as we know that is about as big as they get. After all, being large inhibits speed and aerodynamics, so being medium sized is quite convenient for Furies lmao
    Also, fun fact: they had the animators go to flight school so they could simulate what the dragons’ flight would actually look like with as much accuracy as possible. Cool!

      The series was pretty solid too, it had roughly the same production value as this first one and is a completely canonical bridge between 1 and 2. I found the full series dvd set at goodwill back when I scavanged for my old ebay store and I always screen every disc in full for issues before I sell, so ended up watching the whole series. It was one of those titles I ended up keeping in the collection.

    From what I've read, they did a bunch of aeronautics work to figure out how to make the tail bit and designed it to work like a plane's tail w/rudder, providing balance and angling for lift or drop. I don't know much about planes, but hey, it *sounded* like they did the research.

    The huge dragon had huge bind spots because the eyes are small for one, and their on the sides of that huge head it got. Its nostrils are large so it relies heavily on smell (all things snotloud observed because as shown beforehand a master at recognizing daragon anatomy and abilities).
    That's why if u watch closely every time it's looking for something or susing out another dragon, it tiles its head to the side to use its eyes after it sniffs around first.
    All the how to train ur dragin series is a lo t about show dont twll and honestly thats what makes them so great. They have a lot of thought and lore builtin to it, there is even a dragon guide book u can buy with all the dragons and theire stats like in the movie.

    its interesting with the dragons that had been locked up, it seems that they were more used to humans being around and since they are a social species mainly just wanted to be touched even if they dont naturally like humans they were comfortable with this. also would love you guys to watch the 2nd one

    41:30 there's a video on RUclips on a peregrine falcon vs pelican. The falcon might have small wings than the pelican but the wings are shaped in a way that makes it more aerodynamic & perfect for divebomb tactics. Pairs well on how hiccup & toothless do their attacks on the "Red Death" (queen dragon).

    everyone in the movie were 15, in the series the first one pass after the first movie almost imediatly, in the secon serie (the one in netflix), they talk about something that happend in the first one and mention they were only 15, they are most like 17/18 in the second serie and its close to its final that Hicupp and astrid have more development that leads for the second movie were they are in theirs 20, in the third movie hicupp is 21

    I hope you guys also watch the shows (Riders/Defenders of Berk and Dragons Race To The Edge)
    They are really great shows that hold some of my favorite moments in the franchise. Allowing the spotlight to be on the other characters outside of Hiccup and giving them more development and depth. Both shows take place between the first and second movies. But Riders of Berk came out before the second movie where as Race to the Edge while still taking place before the second movie came out after the second movie
    So if you do plan on watching the franchise the order would be
    Movie 1
    Riders of berk (which later becomes defenders of berk)
    Movie 2
    Dragons race to the edge
    Movie 3
    (There is also Dragons the nine realms but we don’t talk about that… cause there is not nine realms. It never existed)
    They also have some holiday special that may not be as important but they are still fun watches

    People need to actually watch the movie, everyone talks bad about the dad when the dad was one of the best dads, this movie was about Hiccup going from trying to be like everyone else to discovering who he is but from the beginning the dad knew he wasn't like one of them and never tried to force him to change, he said it even before hiccup new it "you are many things but a dragon killer isn't one" when he knew that his son would still try to kill dragons, the dad didn't try to stop him and instead put him in training so he could develop the skills needed to pursue his dream, even when the dad said "you're not a Viking, you're not my son" we could see that how much he was hurt in that situation but nobody ever stops to think how the dad feels, imagine how it would feel for your son who you've raised and loved for year, the most important think left to you by your dead wife who you also loved, to betray you and all your people

    I hope you react to the enitre trilogy, the second movie is even better (if I'm not misremembering). The second movie is a lot more mature because the characters are all older.. Inbetween the first and second movie there's a series and I think it's the case inbetween the second and third but they aren't super important, I remember watching parts of them back in the day but the movies are great on their own.

    I love this series and have watched all of it, including the shows. My favorite part of the first movie is the message it sends about disabled characters. The last couple minutes always get me because Toothless is helping Hiccup walk just like how Hiccup helped him fly. There is a frame of when he is going to the door that you see both Toothless' disabled tail and Hiccups foot side by side. Such a beautiful message that doesn't use words to express. ❤

    36:29 They did.
    On a rewatch you'll notice how tight the script is.
    Hiccup explicitly says: Toothless found it, only a dragon can find the island.
    And of course with hindsight of the future movies we know this the Red Death (this queen dragon) is just abusive. She takes all the food for herself. And of course the sound of when a dragon is being controlled by a... stronger dragon. A good leader shares and feed the nest.
    Every nest has its queen...
