    Sorry about not showing the temperature test graph when I was talking about Temperatures, here is the graph here - ibb.co/cOWg9S - Thanks for letting us know what you think of this RX 580, I think most people think it was designed for mining, though I stopped testing the mining numbers due to too many people not wanting to see those numbers!

      Tech YES City where do you buy your MX4 from and how cheap?

      do the asrock cards have illegal "warranty void" stickers on them and do they keep your warranty for thermal paste changes like u showed in the video (legally they should, but one person won't dare to sue them... of course).
      would be interesting to know and also to point out in vids to hopefully end this practice of bs warranty stickers and such.

      Tech YES City I hope more motherboard manufacturers get into the GPU market since they are always selling out due to miners. The more in the market the better the price. Good video man but when are you going to show some liquid cooling builds?

    FYI, it's because of other AIBs that asrock can't sell in EU. AIBs put pressures on AMD for asrock to not sell.
    A shame if it's true.

      It is true! The only question is if public pressure will change that, if enough AMD-'fans' are angry then AMD might change this policy, if legally possible. Personally I think that it is outrageous for a company like AMD to tell an AIC-partner where to not sell the cards, unless there are legal problems but in that case the law forbids it and AMD can suffice with just giving advice.

    • @bluej511
      @bluej511 6 лет назад +3

      Not true its because its pretty mich made to mine and targeted at miners. As to why they dont sell in the eu thats probably why. Its possible they dont meet safety regulations too who knows. People will continue to assume and bash amd for it lol.

    Hey Bryan I understand you are saying you want better features. If I were Asrock and making RX 580 cards I would do two models the one you are showing as a stripped down budget model for those that dont need all the fancy frills (I would put better fans that move the same air but lower speeds for better sound) and then have the upscale model with RGB, back plate etc. That way they can cater to the biggest market. great video as always and if Asrock can keep that price reasonable they just make a load of cash.

  • @OTechnology

    The position of the VRM doesn't mean anything as to where its pulling power from. That design is most likely split between the PCIe and the 8-pin.

    • @vollkerball1
      @vollkerball1 6 лет назад +2

      If it pulled the 200 watts from PCI slot the mb would be toasted

    • @feltmods
      @feltmods 6 лет назад +1

      Yep, it is set to 50/50 or 60w max on the PCIe wired VRMs, you can override this with WattTool.
      EDIT for clarification, this means the theoretical max is around 240w from the VRM, after that it will run toastier.

    • @techyescity
      @techyescity  6 лет назад +1

      Oh thanks for clarifying that, I always thought it did.

    • @feltmods

      It's slightly more efficient since the mosfets can account for the vDroop along the 12v lines easier than if they were to for vCore lines, like on this MSI card. i.imgur.com/8Dp6t1o.png

    • @OTechnology
      @OTechnology 6 лет назад +1

      Tech YES City no worries mate, with this card its probably like a lot of other 480/580 designs where half or so of the phases draw from the pcie slot which isn't ideal since the slot can provide less than the pcie power pin. Other more ideal designs are like the Sapphire Nitro, MSI Gaming and Asus Strix cards where 100% of core power is from the pcie power pin and only the memory is from the slot.

    Solid review as always! I have only had one ASROCK product, that being a AB350M PRO 4 motherboard and I haven't had any problems with it, seems like a solid product for the price. I have read that this particular board has some issues so I am hoping the one I got doesn't because I put it in a build for a friend. I am always happy when there are more companies making graphics cards because more competition = better performance, competitive pricing. Boom!

  • @DevTheBigManUno

    Although as a note with exception of GTA V, each card only edged out it's competitor. The language really pushes the idea one car is far away from the other, when it wasn't the case.

    > Nears 200W of power consumption
    > "6-phases running from the PCI express itself. [...] The 8-pins plug doesn't have a lot of functionality per-se"
    I highly doubt this claim, as the PCIe slot is specced to deliver 75W and the 8-pins plug 150W. _Specced._ (Meaning they can deliver more, but that'd be out of spec, and we saw what happened with the AMD cards and the debacle over the high power pulled from the slot.)

    • @LucienneGainsborough
      @LucienneGainsborough 6 лет назад +1

      Ujiltrom M I doubt that as well. It’s likely that they just rout a very long trace from pcie connector to the vrm. Not ideal since it creates resistance, but it’s asrocks first time so can’t be too harsh

    The RX 580 is very beast card. AMD should focus on driver support and optimisation to completely beat the GTX 1060 out of the box

    • @weesenpai9056
      @weesenpai9056 6 лет назад

      RX580 have a same price with 1070 in my country. i go with 1060 coz lower tdp plus lower price but deliver almost the same performance as 580

    • @laxminarayananks1520
      @laxminarayananks1520 6 лет назад +1

      Prathamesh Patil In our country you can buy a GTX 1070 when the RX 580 lauched, twice the performance and efficiency for the same price, the only downside of Radeon cards is they are expense and perform less than their same priced Nvidia counterparts. SAME GOES FOR VEGA 56 AND 64 THAT ARE PRICED AT 1070Ti and 1080 above and perform less than them and eat a ton of power.

    • @weesenpai9056
      @weesenpai9056 6 лет назад

      Laxmi Narayanan KS agreed. same in my country. 580 and 1070 almost same prices. 1060 more cheaper.

    • @300maze
      @300maze 6 лет назад

      the original price of the 580 was equal to the 1060
      the 580 has more memory than the 1060, freesync support, and better driver support and better dx12/vulkan perf

    • @laxminarayananks1520
      @laxminarayananks1520 6 лет назад

      300maze In my country I was saying, it might be what you say in USA, but when it came here through retailers it was 30-35k, that's the price of a GTX 1070 here, freesync as you say yes it's cheaper than GSync, but most people I know just buy a 1080p 60Hz monitor, hook it up with a GTX 1060 and play, requires only one 6pin. RX 580 wants 8+6 pin mostly

  • @ShadeAssault

    Not sure if anyone has posted this already, but you should take high res pictures of the PCB (Front and Back) and send them over to Buildzoid at Actually Hardcore Overclocking so he can do a breakdown/analysis of the board. Seeing as this is a new card from a company new to the GPU market it would be very interesting to see what components they used and see how it stacks up to other cards from other vendors.

    Love the review. Asrock make great motherboards & should get into graphics cards. Best to trade the 0db fan feature for RGB lighting and backplate if it is going to be a budget card. Noise cancelling headphones should be used to deal with those jet engine fans at 100%. Seems like a region restriction going on with Asrock for EU and possible the US just like Sony and bluray/DVD discs. Prices in Oceania must be cheaper than Europe and US. Not to mention the trade tax issues between US and China.

    Honestly, fan noise and backplates are a non issue if the price is right. I don't have any details on pricing either but I suspect we will be seeing ASRock playing to it's strengths here, value. If these come out significantly cheaper than the competition ASRock will be on to a winner here.

    I can even push out 4K on non-demanding/older games.

    Why not add a "Phantom" red led labeling similar to what Nvidia does on their fe cards in green, i agree that it should have a back plate, and maybe instead of just the silver paint on the shroud it should have red paint in the front half of the card and silver on the back, also have the ASRock logo be a silver/white led. Or make the led text rgb so the user can choose the color in Asrock's sofware.

      That's not as easy as it sounds.... A lot of it is from the air just moving through the heatsink fins. Designing the best airfoil in the world for that fan would help, but its really going to be loud either way pushing that much air unless you drastically change the fan system. You could do a gigantic blower system with noise dampening multi path noise shielding insulation pumping through to the GPU, but that system is going to be a huge box probably the size of your computer that would need to sit outside your system. I don't think many people would want that... It could be done, but really, you can use a passive radiator to cool those RX cards with a very quiet water pump, its much cheaper, smaller, and easier to do.
      You need about a 480mmx120mmx80mm radiator with vertical fin orientation, and you should be able to cool it enough. that's just based roughly on some of my testing. My next silent cooler is going to be a car radiator capable of cooling the CPU, and mutli-GPU (have 6 GPU blocks on it, enough for my main system and my testbench, which I may just bolt to the side of my main system case). I'll probably run duel HX1200i platinum PSUs for my main system, and another will be powering the testbench (I like to pull some power!). I hope I don't need a fan on it, but I might.

      Jake Garrett I'm a filthy casual having a noctua nh-d14 in my main pc as my centerpiece. Extremely satisfied with it. The whole pc is whisper quiet when it's on idle (I've set a custom fan profile, though I've tweaked it now since summer is closing), though it's definitely audible on load, mainly because of my graphics card. Would like to water-cool it but it's a hassle I don't want to get into right now.
      About the card, if just that fans aren't enough, maybe a rework on the cooler itself will do the trick.

    Just what I'd expect from ASRock. Hit the minimum of good functionality at the lowest possible price point. It's a good strategy and definitely makes their products worth at least considering if price is any sort of factor for you. No backplates, RGB, or particularly fancy cooler means no extra costs on top of the raw performance, and I'm OK with that.

    My advice to Asrock would be to settle on a brand color for Phantom Gaming that isn't red. I would argue either green or purple, mainly to play off the Phantom in the name and all the inherent ghost stuff it implies. I'd love to see say most of the lighting RGB, but a light up Asrock, or light up Phantom logo that only lights up in the brand color.

    Honestly, more options are nice. I would definitely like to see a less "edgy" design. I'm not a particular fan of cluttered heat spreaders. It's easy to clash with other parts in your pc but I am also hoping that they'll try and make mini models of them, much like they do with their motherboards. I think that's where they'll shine

    As long as they price these cards correctly I am fine with it not having a backplate or RGB. If I were in the market for a video card right now I would keep my eye on this.

    Cool and all for Asrock, but it isn't a spectacular performing/looking card. That and the RX580s/GTX1060s tier cards are getting long in the tooth, especially for the price they're commanding. Hopefully next gen Asrock will have something interesting.

    Push lots of frames but get hot...And in a micro case its a havoc. I have paired it with a Ryzen 7 and it works fine,but fighting heat its a constant straggle. Ryzen stays at 45C while ASrock goes to 85c.

    Ohhh the rx580..I wanted to buy this card at msrp but the prices was bananas like 550-600 euros that specific time so i bought the 1080 for 100 euros more (650) and one month later I sold it and i bought the 1080ti . But to be honest i wasn't planning to spend so much. But the Rx580 if someone buy at msrp or close to msrp its a very nice GPU!!!
