I just purchased this knife. It’s my first Microtech, and I was worried about its authenticity. I got it from an authorized retailer but having no manufacturing date or serial number on the knife made me a little nervous. You’ve put all my fears to rest. My box and packaging are identical to yours as well as the knife itself. Great video and thank you!
I wonder if it missfired because it hadn't quite fully retracted before you tried to fire it again. The new gen 3 takes a bit to get use to because its so smooth. I wasnt sure i liked it at first. Now i like it more than the gen 2.
So the Sarab is between the combat troodon and ultra tech? Doesn’t look like the scarab has a palm swell like the combat troodon either. Does it also have the you can take it apart yourself features of the new gen3. It did looked like you short stroked it feeling for the firing point. Kinda one of those things with microtech I have found gotta commit on the button or you need a little oil.
My scarab 2 gen 3 also had a couple of misfires, but it stopped after a week of playing with it. I did message Microtech about it, they said it's possible it needs to break in or I can send it in and they'll fix it. Maybe the first batch had some spring tension issues? Thanks for the vid, I wish I waited a bit longer to get the black coated one, but we all know Microtech will eventually release a dlc coated one haha
It only failed this once. However, I have returned it as I'm too scared to scratch the black coating off so I didn't want to carry it. I don't have any "safe queen" knives, I like carrying them all, so I had to send it back. I'll definitely pick up a dlc shadow scarab when they start coming out though. In the mean time I've got one with apocalyptic finish which is great for a user.

Ive owned scarabs and CT and none have missfired.

Yes I'm definitely gonna snag a dlc scarab if I can find one when they start coming out.
I think they over oil these new ones. I noticed that the action on my Scarab and CT Gen 3s both got better as I wiped away the excess oil.
How’s your blade play. I just bought one today.
The blade play is about the same as my other microtech otf knives. I don't really care that much about blade play as it doesn't effect the use at all.
Has it failed on you again since you’ve had it? I’m looking at grabbing a new Gen 3 myself.

I own three gen 3 and one gen 2. None of them have ever misfired.
@@Skyfall-sv8df Ive had mine for 2 weeks now and it has never failed to fire or retract. Fires hard too and built like a tank, love it.
@@Blue_Ghost_87they are great blades. I always EDC one.
No issues here. Awesome knife. Looking forward to the black looking all worn years from now. 😁
The QD was a better size.
looks cheaper than gen 2
Yes there are fewer grip tape sections so it's easier to make, plus they aren't doing the fluted spine to save more cost.
