You were not comparing apples to apples. The Trustfire Mini X3, you turned on "Turbo" and compared to "high" on the other lights....Turbo only lasts about 1 min before being derated to "equivalent high" mode. That is why the Mini X3 appears to outperform. Not buying or selling. Just providing clarification.

Have you had any failures when deploying yours? I’ve had dozens of Microtech’s over the years and never had a single issue but I bought the new Scarab II less than a week ago and have had at least 10 failures.

When I am collecting, I always look for the unique ones. I would keep the one with the fluted spine, maybe even put it up somewhere safe. you never know, 10 years from now it could be something worth really having. Maybe your grandchildren would enjoy a collectors piece like that. you never know, who would ever thought that the halos I purchased out of a magazine would be worth so much today.

I have one of the OG MGAD20 Drop points 3V blade and Textured Ti. And the new AD20i in blk. G10. Both amazing knives. The G10 is actually lighter and a better edc.

Hello. I would like to ask you a question: I used to have the AD 10, and its liners were made of aluminum. In the AD 20.5 and yours, the liners are made of steel, but I don't know what type of steel. Do you think it's necessary to apply any oil to this part? I'm not referring to the part of the liners that face the scales, as those are protected, but to the part facing the blade

I think they leave the satin there because of how smooth a finish it is, and that's the area that rides in the chassis, so less friction when deploying and retracting it. I have the Shadow full serrated, and the DLC os on the entire blade as it has even less friction than the satin.

I just purchased Emisar D4K and I have a problem with the step down from high mode. My light will stay in high mode about 15 seconds before it will start to dim down to almost moon mode. Is that normal? Thanks.

I am a huge fan of the Apocalyptic finish especially in the Natural Clear bodies. Something for an FYI, the flats on the blade are normally satin finish, no matter if its "Tactical" finish (black blade) or stonewashed or apocalyptic finish. I know this is an old video but if you are getting rid of your fluted apocalyptic version let me know. Thanks...

Yep, stinks that they had flutes for the 1st production runs as well. I guess saving penny's not CNC'ing those two flutes out. All my other Scarab II's have flutes in the spine. 😥

I don’t know what’s wrong with my brain. I’m unfamiliar with these lights and the maker so for the first 20 seconds I was trying to figure what language this video was in. Turns out it’s in my native language and I just have issues. Sweet lights and great video!

So the Sarab is between the combat troodon and ultra tech? Doesn’t look like the scarab has a palm swell like the combat troodon either. Does it also have the you can take it apart yourself features of the new gen3. It did looked like you short stroked it feeling for the firing point. Kinda one of those things with microtech I have found gotta commit on the button or you need a little oil.

Yeah the business decisions of the demko brothers are weird. The fact that they rename it as20i is weird. They should just say it in the description if its made in italy when they sell it but not rename the knife because of that. Otherwise people see the i as a downgrade even if its no difference.

I wonder if it missfired because it hadn't quite fully retracted before you tried to fire it again. The new gen 3 takes a bit to get use to because its so smooth. I wasnt sure i liked it at first. Now i like it more than the gen 2.

Ive owned scarabs and CT and none have missfired.

I just purchased this knife. It’s my first Microtech, and I was worried about its authenticity. I got it from an authorized retailer but having no manufacturing date or serial number on the knife made me a little nervous. You’ve put all my fears to rest. Demko does make smooth ti on the AD20 And AD20s.

I guess it’s just a preference thing. I really like the sleek clean black look of the newer models.

Glad you managed to snag one! It's really unfortunate that drop point is an NC Blade exclusive and who knows if they'd ever order another batch.

Has it failed on you again since you’ve had it? I’m looking at grabbing a new Gen 3 myself.

My scarab 2 gen 3 also had a couple of misfires, but it stopped after a week of playing with it. I did message Microtech about it, they said it's possible it needs to break in or I can send it in and they'll fix it. Maybe the first batch had some spring tension issues? Thanks for the vid, I wish I waited a bit longer to get the black coated one, but we all know Microtech will eventually release a dlc coated one haha
