Hi! We missed summer but had an amazing time in Finland so we would love to love back to experience the summer. Happy Independence Day! 😎🙌🏻 Sean and Emily ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wBDli8y7IjlY2Q4MBPnA0u&si=AY9z7VKCY2bf4qaQ
Thank you Sean and Emily for showing our beautiful country in such a positive manner. Visitors like you are so welcome here, and hopefully you'll be back some day.
You’re very welcome, it’s so nice to hear from a local person that we showed Finland in a good way. We only saw a small portion so would love to return to discover more of your fantastic country 😊 Many thanks for watching and fir your kind words Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com
Fabulous Finland ! I spent nearly three months wild camping there and the Aland islands this summer, Honda CB500x. Total peace and quiet. Lovely people , such an easy country to disappear in and be left alone. I did take a trip up to Nordkapp for a few days, was great, but I couldn’t wait to get back to the Finnish forests and lakes. Thoroughly enjoying your videos, thumbs up and subbed 🙂
Hi Warren, Wow that sounds amazing!!! To have so much time to immerse yourself in nature and ride around the country must have been fantastic! We agree, really nice people and a fantastic part of the world, wild camping in the forest is such a great experience and we totally understand why you are looking forwards to getting back there. Thanks for your comment and Sub! and it's great to hear you are enjoying the Series. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
As someone who has for years (although not for some few past years anymore) been doing annual summer trips on bicycle (trip that is known as "Rengastie") to Åland and the Finlands coast islands I can wholeheartedly recommend and approve of this comment haha 👍
What I love about my home Sweden and Finland is the endless forrests and trees and thousands of big lakes, small lakes. There is always a small lake somewhere! Such a wonderful nature!
Hi John, yeah it’s a really special place and we loved seeing the vastness of the forests! Being able to turn off the road and find a quiet place to pitch the tent next to a lake made it all the more special. Nature is truly spectacular 😊 Thanks for watching. Sean and Emily
Just discovered you guys! Native Finn here, and you have very beautiful images from this country! Being from southern Finland I love to do trips to Lapland. I don't know much about motorcycling, but I guess that it might be much more tiresome than driving a car. And the funny part where you try dodge the road patches like a computer game... Me (sometimes) do that also, it's hilarious! :)
Hi and welcome to our channel! 😎🙌🏻 We are glad you approve of our representation of beautiful Finland. We have really enjoyed our time (although short) exploring your country. Yeah it can get tiring when the weather is bad however with the wind in your face it also keeps us awake 😊 -it’s when we stop we realise how tired we actually are. Hehe glad to hear it’s not just me that made a game out of the road patches -what’s your highest score? 😁 Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy the Heading North Playlist Sean and Emily
Yo this was actually wild to see. The national park you went to I remember being there as a kid a few times! When you pulled up to the parking lot and I saw that building, I thought: "no way I've been there!"
Oh wow that’s cool! I bet you weren’t expecting to see that 😁 it looked like a nice region to explore, just wish we had more time to do some hiking ….still we know for next time 😊 Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video and thank you for visiting Finland. 15:53 that is Reijo Kelas enviroment art "Hiljainen Kansa" aka "Silent People" or "Silent Nation". About 1000 peat head statues. Those areas people do not talk much and you have to show who you are by very hard work. They used to live very modest life and did not complain basicly of anythin.
You're very welcome, we had a great time traveling in Finland and look forwards to returning. Thanks for the information - a lot of work went into making them! Thanks for watching Sean and Emily
Hi, yeah a lot of bikers said that however we wild camped, stopped regularly for reindeers and visited the ‘odd stone’. The ride was relaxing and so nice to be surrounded by trees, personally we really enjoyed it and would love to go back to Finland 😊 🇫🇮 thanks for watching
Hi Mark, welcome to our channel and thanks for your comment!! This whole series has been amazing to make, everyday the beauty of Norway, Sweden and Finland kept on surprising us! Thanks for a very chill and beautiful video! Perfect for my cold and wintery look outside the window in Helsinki on a Saturday morning, compared to Finnish summer. 😎🥰
Hi, you’re very welcome! It’s so nice to hear that you enjoyed the video. We visited Helsinki to and really like the city! Thanks for watching and we really appreciate your comment. All the best Sean and Emily 😊 seanandemilytravels.com
You could have turned into another (Finland's newest) national park at that Hossa sign around 10:00. The reindeer was there to lure you in. There's a nice canyon lake and stone age rock paintings to see, whenever you come back for your national park tour. And then, north of Joensuu, there's Koli - which is the best view in Finland.
Hossa is such an underrated location, both for it's historical value and the nature and scenery. Went there in 2014, those canyon lakes are something to behold, very unusual formation, and the water and fishing was so good.
Hi Hjalmar, a fitting name! 😎 Thanks for the info! a lot of work has gone into that scarecrow field. Thanks for watching and we hope you have enjoyed the series so far. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
Emily and Sean, thank you for nice video and best regards from here in Finland. I have also BMW GS motorbike and me and my wife like to travel all over Europe and Scandinavia. Welcome here again, I know those boring straight roads but there is bend roads and much more to see. I hope that your tire was not absolutely square after your trip 😆.
Hi Manu, we are really happy you enjoyed the video and thanks for commenting! 😊 You live in a beautiful country! Must be great to live there, especially with a GS. Hehe yeah I’m sure there is, we just needed to make up some time and actually thankful of the higher speed limits. The tire was indeed very square 🤣 but we got 10,000 Km out of them so can’t complain. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy the rest of the channel. Kudos to you can afford such an expedition on your bike Sir ! As soon as you leave the dark and rainy dump of the UK ( Just to mention uber expensive! ) You certainly gain health and good spirit for the soul Whoever is helping you with the video editing and the music is doing a great job, well done ! I'm sure you made your provisions and got alternative back up plans God forbid something may happen during the trip. Enjoy every moment of it and stay safe out there, most of as are just limited to watching your video, many thanks for sharing !
Hi, thanks for watching. Yeah being surrounded by nature and fresh calm air is certainly good for the body and mind. Thanks very much for your comment, we do all the editing and music selection ourselves and we are glad you appreciate the effort =). Well we have full BMW breakdown and recovery insurance and the SOS system is really good. We are happy to share our journeys and hope everyone can get to see the beauty of these destinations. Thanks for watching and we appreciate your kind words. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/

Hi guys, found your channel and have binged watched it to catch up, love these mini movies , wonderfully edited. Love it ! Ride safe. Keep up the excellent work.
Hi Tom, welcome to our channel! Wow thanks! Plenty of videos and past tours to catch up on so great to hear that you have been enjoying them! We really appreciate your comment and encouraging words. Thanks again Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
That backtire looks like mine. I think I replaced factory tire after 6-7000km. With a sport bike, it didn't have that much of tread left, and it was square in middle. Lovely video, I live in Finland and I've never visited Lapland.
7k out of a sports bike tire is pretty good 👍🏻 we usually get 10-12k Km out of our tires when riding two up and fully loaded. Thanks very much! It’s a beautiful country indeed and it must be a magical place in winter when the snow turns the forests into a winter wonderland 😊 Thanks for watching and we hope you have enjoyed the Heading North Playlist so far 😎👍🏻 Sean and Emily
That is the classic tree-syndrome...when you start to do the crazy stuff on the road 😂 Having a drone and seeing the the beautiful footage afterwards makes it worth driving in endless roads with trees. Nice episode.A little bit of everything☺
Hi Johan, 'tree-syndrome' I like that expression and indeed it does make us do crazy things lol 😂. When we send the drone up it looks incredible from the sky and make us appreciate how wonderful the landscape is! Really glad you enjoyed the episode and thanks as always for your support through commenting. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
17:09 Beat Saber - Finnish Motorcycle Edition... I have driven that "backroad" few times between Kuusamo and Kajaani while visiting my original hometown but never thought those patches as an game, probably because I were driving car... :D
Hehe you get double points if you can do it in a car! :D We have really enjoyed our time in Finland and hope to return someday....maybe in the summer =)
The forests are amazing but the straight roads would drive me mad , don’t think the wiggles will wear the sides down at all , the bears , don’t visit until after they’ve had breakfast, 😅 stay safe , another great video Emm you even made the never ending straight roads interesting , and that sandwich you made was awesome 👍❤️ Graham L
Hi Graham, Yeah the straight roads did start to take their toll but we managed to entertain ourselves, hehe perhaps the bears might have been tempted by that sandwich -it was a top 10 road side lunch moment! Thanks as always for your comment and continued support. Sean and Emily 😊 seanandemilytravels.com/
Where did all the reindeer go? 🤣yes I was waiting for those black tiles to start flashing as you scored your bonus level!! Another excellent episode, you make it all look so easy! 👍
We asked the same question! -the grass must be greener up North 😊. Hehe yeah exactly! 'passing the checkpoint' echoed in our minds a few times lol 🤣. Glad you are still enjoying the series and many thanks for your continued comments and kind feedback. This trip did go very smoothly 😊. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
Oh, there is for sure food after 9 in Joensuu, but they are pizza places, grills and such. Knowing the town, i would estimate there was at least one place open within 100m.
Welcome to Finland😀🇫🇮👋🏻. Nature is still unique. It also depends on us that it stays the same. Please don't leave any rubbish that doesn't belong there, please.
The nature in Finland is magnificent! We have thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by trees, lakes and reindeers 😀. We can assure you the only thing left by us was some tire tracks. Thanks for watching Sean and Emily
For good reasons =) Although we didn't see many people, guess it was coming towards the end of the season. Lovely place to live! Thanks for watching Sean and Emily
Weird as almost everyone I've asked hasn't even heard of it and we live less than 300 kms from it. Even an old friend who is super into nature photography didn't know Karhunkierros.
I'm now watching your trip backwards because I found this video series yesterday when RUclips recommended your Helsinki video to me. On those days you had quite nice weather on the road. You had cool route choices with those gravel roads. You saw places that most tourists, even domestic, don't see :)
Hi, thanks for watching! Oh we had some fantastic weather on this trip (some really bad weather too lol) but the sun was out when we needed it to be 😊 I'm glad you like our route choices, we wanted to see the most we could in the time that we had. We hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Here's the playlist in case you want to watch them in order 😊 ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0wBDli8y7IjlY2Q4MBPnA0u
Hi, oh wow what a beautiful place to have your childhood home! We said to each other that this must be a lovely place to live 😊. We are really glad you enjoyed the video and we look forwards to busting Finland again in the future. Sean and Emily
Hi Matt, 'green corridors' i like that name for them! -very fitting. Great to see that there is so much untouched forestry in this region! Thanks for watching and we hope you have enjoyed the series. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
I have a same problem at tires, they goes flat at the middle so fast... Solution, i put bike on a middle stand and second gear in... And littlebit angle grider at the corner 😅 good as new 😅
Haha maybe you should setup a tire rounding service in southern Finland for those returning from their trip 😁 Living In Switzerland we usually don’t have any issue with square tires so I was getting concerned towards the end of the trip. Thanks for watching 😎👍🏻 Sean and Emily
Wow! that's fantastic. It was great to be able to ride through endless tress and see nature being left to do it's thing. Was also very special to spend the night in such an environment. Thanks Finland for all the fresh air!! Thanks for your comment and glad to hear you are enjoying the ride. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
It's a university town yes but also central to the region so people do come there for other reasons too - mostly people of from the same region, but anyway.
That’s what the lady at the hotel said to us 😁. We didn’t really see much of the city as we arrived late and left early but what we did see was nice 😊. Thanks for watching 😎👍🏻 Sean and Emily
what should tried eating is ssomething called suovas. It is dried smoked rein deer meat. You can eat it with anything on a sandwich it is really great. Or like a burritho
Thanks very much! Really glad that you enjoyed it and thanks for your comment. You are right, we did indeed have some big day rides as we needed to cover the distance but also wanted to see the sights. We had a great time riding through Finland. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
Hi Kaj, thanks for the Tips. We wish we had more time to explore the town but only managed to grab a coffee and a small walk around but looked a nice place to live. Thanks for watching and we hope you are enjoying the series. Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
In nature conservation areas, such as national parks, camping or other overnight stays are usually only allowed in separately marked and maintained tent sites. Camping in nature conservation areas can also be prohibited.
The large pannier contains the tent, sleeping bags and mattress. So there’s plenty of space for the bike gear in there when the tent is in use. The Tent has enough room for the helmets without them being on the mattress. Also the two waterproof bags that we have on the panniers are usually empty so can be used for any gear that doesn’t fit in the panniers. Boots go in the tent vestibule 😎👍🏻
Thanks for the info, yeah we read about it later on. The artist never reveled what exactly the meaning of them but there are a few theories that make sense. Thanks for watching! Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
There seems to be false info about bears. There are some incidents that a bear has attacked without no reason. And if you happen to be between mom bear and her cub it can definitely be a dangerous place.
Well I’m sure there are exceptions. According to the visited Centre generally speaking the Bears tend to run away and avoid human contact. But yeah as you say they do get defensive when they have a cub.
As a Finn... The least densely populated country in the Europe... Lots of land, not much people, north from Oulu hardly anybody... The trees get very boring soon. You can leave from Central Park in downtown Helsinki and drive 1500 km to Nuorgam and see nothing but - trees. Despite of that, and because of small densely populated countries such as the Netherlands or Italy, the EU requires we should have more wood. Maybe worth the size of Belgium? I think the number was 25% of something... You should testify in the front of EU that those guys do not have shortage of trees.
Hi, always appreciated to have a local share information! We would rather be surrounded by thousands of trees than thousands of people 😁 Ah so Finland is expected to offset the lack of trees in the rest of Europe? 😳 ….well we can confirm there is no shortage of trees in Finland 😊 Thanks for watching Sean and Emily
Hi Floro, it looks like our plan avoid the insects has worked as we had clear visors all day and did not get bitten! Also the fires when camping seem to keep the mosquitos away. Thanks for watching and we hope you have enjoyed the series up to now 😎 Sean and Emily seanandemilytravels.com/
Yes as you stay on these big roads, if you choose different smaller road, then it gives much more. But I do understand that many people like to ride on those 100kmh limited road just to make progress but then you lose some great roads and views. Like in this video on 10.06 if they turned to left, they had much more interesting road to drive on. In Finland, avoid those one or two digited E-roads, boring as hell... Always chosee roads with three or four digits...
The lakes, nature and good weather made up for it. But as mentioned if we had more time we could have found some better routes, the next episode has some great sections of roads 😎
@tapio Yeah you are right, this day we needed to make some time up so the 100kph limit was great for getting some KM's done. if we had more time then for sure there would have been some better routes. That said it was still fascinating to get a feel of the size and experience the nature of Finland -you must have the freshest of Air in Europe with all those trees 😊
Glad you liked it, hehe yeah we have been informed many times 😄, we learn a lot from these trips, before, during and afterwards 😊. Many thanks for watching and we had a truly fantastic time exploring Finland! looking forwards to returning already. We hope you enjoy the other videos in this playlist. Sean and Emily

No restaurants were open that we could see and we didn’t want to go out for fast food -might as well eat noodles 😁
@@SeanandEmily Google 😉
we did, all the nice ones closed at 22:00
Welcome to Finland😀🇫🇮👋🏻.
Thanks for watching

Its like one of the most visited nationalpark amongst fins.
For good reasons =) Although we didn't see many people, guess it was coming towards the end of the season. Lovely place to live!
Thanks for watching
Sean and Emily
Weird as almost everyone I've asked hasn't even heard of it and we live less than 300 kms from it. Even an old friend who is super into nature photography didn't know Karhunkierros.
Many call us FINNS - and fish are with fins !
Here's the playlist in case you want to watch them in order 😊

Nice to see this, this "Oulanka National Park" is actually near my childhood home and my parens still lives there 😊❤
Hi, oh wow what a beautiful place to have your childhood home! We said to each other that this must be a lovely place to live 😊. We are really glad you enjoyed the video and we look forwards to busting Finland again in the future.
Sean and Emily
I used to live near Oulanka as well as a young child over 10 years ago. My grandparents were both from the region
A great place to grow up 🙂
Welcome to the green corridors of Finland and Sweden!
Hi Matt, 'green corridors' i like that name for them! -very fitting. Great to see that there is so much untouched forestry in this region!
Thanks for watching and we hope you have enjoyed the series.

I have a same problem at tires, they goes flat at the middle so fast... Solution, i put bike on a middle stand and second gear in... And littlebit angle grider at the corner 😅 good as new 😅
Haha maybe you should setup a tire rounding service in southern Finland for those returning from their trip 😁
Living In Switzerland we usually don’t have any issue with square tires so I was getting concerned towards the end of the trip.
Thanks for watching 😎👍🏻

80 Billion trees apparently, all doing their best to save the planet! Great stuff, you must sometimes long for a nice comfy bed lol! Ride safe.
Wow! that's fantastic. It was great to be able to ride through endless tress and see nature being left to do it's thing. Was also very special to spend the night in such an environment. Thanks Finland for all the fresh air!!
Thanks for your comment and glad to hear you are enjoying the ride.

Some forests are near the end of the life cycle, carbon must be harvested as lumber for them to save the planet
There's a lot of trees to manage. I guess this is why they clear sections and replant
It's a university town yes but also central to the region so people do come there for other reasons too - mostly people of from the same region, but anyway.
We hear that in the summer it’s lots of fun with music festivals and events 😎
I studied and worked in Joensuu for 9 years and yeah, noone comes there outside of the music festival season. Beautiful summer city but not much else.
That’s what the lady at the hotel said to us 😁. We didn’t really see much of the city as we arrived late and left early but what we did see was nice 😊.
Thanks for watching 😎👍🏻

Have You heard of Internet or RUclips ? They have those at Joensuu too - and You may follow The World from safe distance !

Nice video! It takes all day to drive 400km if you drive on funny little roads and enjoy the sceneries. :)
Thanks very much! Really glad that you enjoyed it and thanks for your comment. You are right, we did indeed have some big day rides as we needed to cover the distance but also wanted to see the sights. We had a great time riding through Finland.

Hi Kaj, thanks for the Tips. We wish we had more time to explore the town but only managed to grab a coffee and a small walk around but looked a nice place to live.
Thanks for watching and we hope you are enjoying the series.

the straight roads are bit nicer to drive during winters :D
They must look amazing in the winter! Especially when all the trees are white too.
Easier to keep your track on the road then im sure he meant.
Ah yeah that makes sense
In nature conservation areas, such as national parks, camping or other overnight stays are usually only allowed in separately marked and maintained tent sites. Camping in nature conservation areas can also be prohibited.
That makes sense, I don’t think we stayed in a national park when we camped 👍🏻
You can put a tent on nearly anywhere. Making campfire is a different thing.
Thanks for the Info!
And yez we still have nture desappear and need to Redo our forest 😅😅
Hehe no shortage of trees from what we saw 😁
Where do you keep all your motorcycle gear during the tenting nights ? 🤷
The "scarecrows" is an art piece called The Silent People
Thanks for the info, yeah we read about it later on. The artist never reveled what exactly the meaning of them but there are a few theories that make sense.
Thanks for watching!

Roads forests and lakes.
Would also be a good title =)
did you talk with any of the ent.. trees you see walking around?
Bless my bark, a conversation would have taken a very long time -they never say anything unless it is worth taking a long time to say =)
but I did not mean those stationary ones, I meant the people, ok ok why would you talk anyways :p lmao@@SeanandEmily
It was a Mrs reindeer with calf
Lovely as ever to see 😊
There seems to be false info about bears.
@@SeanandEmily Yes, the dangerous incidents are very rare
The reason the road is patched with asphalt so much is beacuse the timber trucks eat out the road in their tracks
Ahh makes sense, yeah those timber trucks carry a lot of weight!! No wonder the roads have a hard time.
Thanks for your comment.

We would rather be surrounded by thousands of trees than thousands of people 😁
Ah so Finland is expected to offset the lack of trees in the rest of Europe? 😳 ….well we can confirm there is no shortage of trees in Finland 😊
Thanks for watching

Trees just trees
Can't get enough of those trees =)
@@SeanandEmily well its good to cut some down to grow new healty trees

Sean and Emily
And best part is that Finland has to pay EU because we don't have Forrests ....
Someone else mentioned that. That’s incredible as there are literally trees everywhere!! 🤪
@@SeanandEmily They are all individual cases. One tree doesn't make a forest.
Nature is the best part of Finland. Majority of everything else (people, government, public services) are mostly crap now
We throughly enjoyed being surrounded by nature in Finland - truly beautiful 😊.
Thanks for watching
Hopefully so late in the year that you will not be eaten alive by midges!
Hi Floro, it looks like our plan avoid the insects has worked as we had clear visors all day and did not get bitten! Also the fires when camping seem to keep the mosquitos away. Thanks for watching and we hope you have enjoyed the series up to now 😎

😎💙🔥Finland are boring yes!
I liked your video, but Finland is not part of scandinavia :)
