    Bought me a 2020, 1000-5 and it was the pioneer that I even found your channel. Mine had 250 miles on it, guy did all kinds of updates including a heat shield, and the dam thing will still fry you. I’m adding electric motor fans and air vents next. Cool vid, keep up the content you ol Hillbilly! GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!!!!!

    I have a 2023 Pioneer 1000-5 Trail Edition and this thing is a beast. Only complaint was the heat radiating up thru the seat from the engine. I took care of about 80% of that with some heat shielding. I have pointed it at some hills that honestly made me a bit nervous, never a single hiccup from this machine. Just what you would expect from a Honda.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  Год назад

      The cabin heat can be a bit rough at times but a little heat shielding and it comfortable.
      Totally agree on putting the pioneer in some sticky situations. I have pushed the limits and the pioneer pulls right thru. Can’t beat a Honda and congrats on your purchase.

    Same machine same here. Like to say I like your review. I bought a tire carrier that can also hold a cooler as an aftermarket add-on. I agree with your battery addition. With a winch and LEDs all over the unit it is probably a good addition. Thanks for your comments

      Pretty cool we got the same machines. I love my deluxe. Interesting on the tire carrier and cooler accessory. If you don't mind me asking, what is the name of it or where did you get it?. The spare tire seems to be a item people are wanting to carry. I have a lot of people asking about tire carriers. Thank you for watching and supporting our channel.

    I have the 2016 Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe in Honda Phantom Camo. I Raptor Lined mine into OD Green. I have the dual battery setup, reverse light bar, stereo with 2 speakers, winch, under dash storage, middle PBR cup holder panel, and I just ordered the DEI heat shield kit after watching your video because the heat is unbearable in mine. I’m wanting to do the front light bar and the side light pods too eventually. Mine is also used for hunting/ trail riding.

    I have had my pioneer for 4 years now. It’s a 2018 1000-5 deluxe. I use it for everything on my farm. No issues yet with the exception of some recalls you mentioned. The heat shied was another recall but no mechanical issues yet!🤞The heat shield recall was supposed to help the heat issue but I didn’t see the difference, but I’m in upstate NY. I welcome the heat 10 of the 12 months!😁

    i purchased a 2021 Honda Pioneer 1000 last year and it is my first side by side. i have rode with other people in there Rangers and Razors but hands down I love my Honda. It has much more room inside the cab. I am a big guy 6' 330lbs. I own a Polaris magnum 325 2wd 2001 still have it by the way. Also have a 2013 Polaris 400 Sportsman 4wd.
    One thing I did do was installed a 4k warn winch on it and put the plug for it in the glove box so to stay free from mud and what ever. Now when I bought it they only had color red and I am from Kentucky and if anyone with any common since about them I am not riding around in a red side by side. Changed it all out to Blue much better now. I still have the red plastic hood and all never been used other than off trailer into my barn to get changed out..

    Great video! I have a 2019 deluxe 1000-5. Just 4000 miles on it and almost no issues other than torn boots. I have run into the issue of running the winch and it basically drawing enough power to cause a fault with the DCT. Had to shut it down and restart to clear the fault. Installed the auxiliary battery about a week after that. Also I did install the Throttlemax and it has made a difference. As you pointed out the Bighorns aren’t bad tires but they’re only 6 ply so I had some 8 ply, 28” Carnivores put on and they are way quieter on the roads and do fine down at Hatfield trails as well.
    As much as I love my machine I just found a 1000-5 SE that recently hit the showroom. So I may be upgrading in the near future.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 года назад

      Thank you, The auxiliary battery is a must on these machines and Honda really should have put them on from factory or at least be a option. I have heard some good things about the carnivores. They seem a little more aggressive than my terrabites so I bet they do good in mud. The Throttlemax is on my list for 2021. Me personally I have got used to the throttle issue but every once in awhile the jumping gets me. LOL. Good luck on the SE They are nice and keep us posted. Thanks for watching

  • @thereplacementfordisplacement
    @thereplacementfordisplacement 3 года назад +3

    One negative I would add is the weight, not because it hurts the performance because there's plenty of power for this type of utility SXS, but because it makes it tough to fit in the super light 7000lbs toy haulers. A 10 foot garage never expected to cram so much capability in it.
    I too was thinking skid plate upgrade but I don't want to add more weight. Not just weight of skid plate but weight of all the accumulated trapped dirt that adds up so fast. I like the quickly removable, light factory "skid plate". Maybe consider adding armor to wheel well area and other vulnerable stick puncture areas instead.
    I also appreciate your explanation of use of winch causing enough voltage sag that the DCT can't function right. Most people drive and winch at same time for control. Guess I am adding a little more fixed weight.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 года назад

      Good point on the weight. My 2018 from factory with no extras is over 1700 lbs wet.. I hadn't thought much about the weight and room issues with a toyhauler. I have heard Another negative point would be the cage height also for toy haulers... I'm really torn on the skid plates and you just brought up a valid point on the accumulated mud. I was not taking that into consideration on a purchase but I will add it to the list... I have been thinking about just making removable rock sliders and fender well guards like you described in your comment. Something that will at least stop a stick or rock coming through the floor. Might be another DIY video down the road on that. lol.... You wont regret the dual battery it just adds some piece of mind and its like insurance for you clutch. Thanks for sharing your comments and insight on some issues that I'm sure a lot of us hadn't thought about.

    I have a 700-4 pioneer, and the door rattling and lack of doors sealing is mind-numbing. It will be a project this winter to figure out a way to seal the doors and get rid of the rattling. Other than that, the 3 speed in the 700-4 needs to be thrown out and should have a 5 or 6 speed in them.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  Год назад

      I agree. Honda could do a lot better job of sealing up the cabs and work on the rattling issue. The 700-4 does need 6 speed transmission. I believe they would sell a lot more 700 if they did. Thanks for watching.

From you're video's I gather I need to install the DI kit to help with the overwhelming engine heat problem in the drivers compartment. I'd like to ask if your kit helped to cut down on some of the massive dust cloud that also seems to build in the driver's compartment, or just a heat fix?

It did not help with the dust issue but the fabric back mid panel almost eliminates the dust issue. Kit helps keep the dust down big time. Check out my pioneer playlist on my channel. I have a Honda genuine fabric mid back panel and a kemimoto fabric mid panel video. They are a must for trail riding. I have the product listed in the description of the video's. Larry. I have been looking real hard at the UHMV style skid plates. I love the look of aluminum and the almost puncture resistance material but they are also known to bend and be real loud when something hits it.(which I'm not crazy about due to hunting! LOL). The UHMV Style skid plates are easier to slide over objects , They are thicker and tend to reshape back to its normal form after being hit or almost punctured. Now the aluminum UHMV coated are AWESOME ! but they come with a hefty price.

    great video as always brother! you touched on it briefly, but it was THE selling point for me - the convertible rear seat. i needed space sometimes for 3 kids, but also wanted a bed to carry gear and materials when i needed it.
    i didnt want a 6 seater with a long wheel base. up here in new england, the trails can get tight, and making sharp turns and quick elevation change with a long wheel base is a no-go.
    my question for you is - why hasn't polaris or can-am caught on and made their own convertible rear seat? does honda have it patent protected that well?

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  3 года назад +5

      From what I have found out and talking to the dealers is. Honda has a patent That will not allow anyone to copy there idea for 7 years with a extension of 3 more years if they want. Can am and Polaris both have the 6 seaters which is more targeted towards the construction, farming, and ranching market. But also works great for recreational use also. In my opinion I believe that when the patent law gets the easement. Can am and Polaris will do a normal wheel base model in at least a 4 seat stow away design. I agree 100 percent with you. A huge selling point was the stow and go seats. Super nice if you need to haul someone or flip them down for a full bed. I have the same need as you do, here in Tennessee these mountain trails can be tight and a long utv was not a option. Hunting and trail riding the normal wheel base was a must.

      I have never noticed a shadow on my hood . The main reason I put it at the bottom was do to i retrieve deer and do some woods riding where there is a lot of limbs our stuff hanging down that would hit the light bar. Also it is super easy and sturdy to mount it at the bottom where the cage bolts together. No issues with the top or roof. Its very handy and easy to see over. Great info. I'm on the fence. Most machines are either too sport focused or too utility. The concern I have is the bench seat. Wish it had more padding and had some adjustment. I'm wondering how rough on the butt/back the P1000-5 is on the trail at speed.. crawling on soft ground is quite different than going down a dirt back road full of pits and bumps.

    • @pineylife
      @pineylife  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. I have road mine for long distances and never had a issue. I agree that soft trails are different than rough roads ,especially at a higher speed but even at windrock park in Tennessee, I had absolutely no issues with comfort. Now I have seat covers on mine also that helps with the butt sweat and uncomfortable ride or as we call it (monkey butt)lol. The seat covers take away that issue. I drove both bucket style utvs and bench, to me the bench is easier on the rear. Of course shocks and suspension play a big part comfort also.

      @pineylife  3 года назад

      Every state is different on what they will consider street legal. In Tennessee it has to have headlights (low and high beam), taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, side mirrors, rear view mirrors. once you have all of that you can apply for a mid speed tag which means you can drive on any road that is 45 mph or less. You will have to check your DMV and see what the requirements are for your state to allow a mid speed tag or street legal plate
