    My husband and I were married for 44 years before he passed away 11years ago with a heart attack. We only dated for 50 days and eloped on our 50th date. We worked together, welcomed 4 babies into this world. 2 boys and 2 girls. We cried together, we were best friends, partners for life under death do us part. I am just waiting to join him in Heaven. Never kept a secret from him. Congratulations on your marriage lasting for over 20 years. Blessed Be and God Speed you and husband into a Blessed future. Love you.

    Love your spirt, resourcefulness and work ethic. As a senior disabled person the only way my husband and I can get out and enjoy the great outdoors is in our RV and yes we have a generator. RV campgrounds with electric and water hookups are designed for people like us, who want to get outside and enjoy nature but for whatever reason can't do it off grid the way you do. Some choices are made out of necessity, if we could go off grid we would love it but camping in our RV sure beats sitting at home all the time.

    • @Lunarstruck1
      @Lunarstruck1 2 года назад +5

      The only problem is that they put RVs in tent campgrounds. Why do they need to run their generators all night long or show up at 1am and wake everyone up? It's RUDE. If someone has to do that and ruin it for everyone else, they should just stay home. That is not camping anyway. Rent a cabin. I'm disabled too and love tent camping. I have an air mattress, that's all I need.

    • @TheTagpedsrn
      @TheTagpedsrn 2 года назад +14

      @@Lunarstruck1 Well, we have no intention of "just staying home". We enjoy the outdoor world too, we are always respectful to others and most sites we stay at are mixed camping sites, some tent only, some electric, some full hookup. Guess they are designed that way to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy the camping experience. We do not run our generator all night, never have. I don't think there really has to be a conflict over this, we all just need to respect each other and remember we don't know everything about other people and what they are dealing with or what their limitations are. Good luck to you, have fun!!!!

    • @Lunarstruck1
      @Lunarstruck1 2 года назад +4

      @@TheTagpedsrn You are obviously one of the ones I wouldn't mind camping next to but unfortunately most are not. I wish they would separate the spots. We camp in Big Sur every year and stupidly love the site with the wild foxes in the hollow tree right on the start of the hiking trail, so everyone would go right thru our stuff to the trail instead of just walking next to our site. Weird but still fun bc they don't do it at night too often. Lol

We are approaching our 50s and have been researching like crazy on how to make the jump. We both want to do this so we can enjoy the rest of our lives without the fear of being unable to afford to live due to bills. We definitely want to build a future with our own two hands. Camping hint ...save an old pill prescription bottle. Buy cotton balls and Vaseline. Put Vaseline on cotton balls and put in the prescription bottle.
    Now you have water proof fire starter.
    Put a couple vaselined cotton balls in your kindling, light the cotton balls and you have a fire in damp or rainy weather.

    Love your channel, but as a retired USAF Medic who has helped maintain 80 acres of Montana family cabin property for decades PLEASE start your chainsaw on flat ground with your boot placed on the handle instead of doing an "air start". Also buy a helmet with integral ear muffs and an all important face screen. Small branches can cause "kick back" and a felled tree can cause a broken branch to get launched towards your face. I purchased chain for my Stihl saws by the roll, sometimes using the more aggressive "chipper" chain instead of the "green link" anti-kickback chain. Inspite of hundreds of hours of maintaining the family forrest, I would no longer fell trees without wearing Kevlar insert chaps and steel toes boots, and would prefer to having someone else nearby. A few slips while using saws on snow-covered ground myself, and sewing up several chainsaw "accident" patients as a Medic, and later as a surgical nurse has convinced me that preparing for the enviable incident is very important to myself, and my loved ones. As a fellow Christian, I appreciate seeing you pray, and demonstrating your appreciation for the property and lifestyle that you and your husband have been blessed with. I hope that you will consider my suggestions, which I assure you have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with your gender. Your intellect, past experience, attitude, and "horse sense" are readily apparent to your community and myself. Just want you to be safe, so you can continue to enjoy the great adventure, that is your life. 🙏❤

(I think GITW's will understand this comment) This is a perfect description of living off grid. I don't know if you are single or married but don't think about doing this alone. Most people could not handle living that way. Not because they would be lonely. The challenge comes in the shear magnitude of work and kinds of things you have to do in order to life off grid. Thats why I think having a helpmate or a small group of like minded people all working together would be the best way for the average person to live like. Especially a born and raised cityfied city dweller. Walking through central park in NYC does not count as off gridding. I agree with GITW's you ARE stronger than you think you are. I can give you your first goal date. Set some goals and a schedule and accomplish some stuff (you decide what) by Jan 21 2021. That is going to be a horrific day if things go south for America. If you are not partial to owning and using guns then get yourself a bow with a lot of extra arrows. Try using a sling shot certainly get and practice using snares for catching your next meal. Learn to fish and set up a tackle box with needed supplies and equipment. I suggest looking up a fishing tool called a yo-yo and a US military speed hook. here is a link to see what I am talking about. ruclips.net/video/jEc1OhgybnM/видео.html So easy a civilian can use one (the caveman already knew how to use it LOL) A thousand things are racing through my mind but I will stop here. I am sure GITW's can answer a lot of your questions. I just learned about her channel (and her husbands, Bushradical). They are packed with a lot of really good info. He will institute few , if any , of the ideas being pushed by progressives . Is he going to institute a $15 per hour minimum wage ? Not likely . Even if he did , who exactly would that hurt ? Is he going to make post secondary education publicly funded , similar to Grades 1-12 ? Not likely . However , why shouldn`t post secondary education be publicly funded ? We live in a knowledge based world . For a country to succeed , its workforce needs to educated and flexible . Many countries provide free , or heavily subsidized , post secondary education . Is Biden going to make public heath care available to everybody ? No , he won`t . However , should he ? Right now , about 30 countries in the world have longer life expectancies than the USA . Currently , the life expectancy of Americans is 78 years . In Canada , where they have some elements of Medicare for All , life expectancy is 82 years . So again , I ask you , what do you think will happen after January 21 , 2021 ?

    This was how I wanted to camp when I was younger, in fact I still would like to do it. I'm 74 and a widow. So it would be difficult to do alone. But I love dreaming about it. A week sleeping in a tent in the woods and cooking on an open fire....sounds so wonderful. To clarify: I should have said, this is how we camped WHEN I was younger. I can no longer do it. Has nothing to do with my age.

    I have a story about a secret surprise for you.
    My wife adores spring flowers, so I ordered five hundred spring bulbs and planted them around a dwarf lilac in the front yard. I spent an entire summer secretly planning the layout so that the crocus, daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips would be in constant bloom from early spring till summer. A beautiful succession of colors, shapes, and sizes. I even arranged to have them delivered to my neighbor's address so my wife wouldn't know about them.
    I took a day off work and started early in the morning, lovingly planting each one with its bit of bone meal. I finished just before she was due home from work, even camouflaging the dug-up area so that she wouldn't notice.
    The plan was that next spring she would see a heart-shaped crocus bed poking out of the snow while drinking her morning coffee and the surprise would continue over next couple of months.
    I went to bed that night so pleased with myself and could hardly wait for spring.
    The next morning I glanced out the window and my heart sank.
    There were hundreds of bulbs scattered all over the ground.
    I ran outside and to my dismay, there was a bite out of almost every bulb.
    Skunks had smelled the bone meal and had a feast while I was sleeping.
    My surprise was totally ruined.
    I replanted what wasn't destroyed, but the beautiful layout was gone I couldn't be sure which bulb was which. how many might still be buried deep in the soil, or where they might be, so I just did my best and figured that I could move them next year once I knew what was what.
    After replanting (and swearing the entire time at the skunks) I sprinkled cayenne pepper all around the bulbs and this time skunks left them alone.
    When spring rolled around, it was a pathetic sight but by that time we could laugh about it.
    and he

    When I saw you in another video with him building the beautiful cabin I put y'all together. Now I'm alternating channels. It's so relaxing and a break from this crazy world we live in today. I honestly told my brother and sister just this morning that I need to stop watching so much news and staying in it.. We do youversion plans together and the one we started today was about staying focused on Him and not in this world. I do love watching channels like yours so today I've watched a few. My husband and I used to stay in the woods camping, boating, and hiking . He taught me so much. We never got to build our dream cabin but we did a lot of wonderful things together. I have Lupus and RA. I live with our daughter on an old homestead and we love it. I don't think we'll ever be off grid but we'd love to be. Who knows with all that's going on we may all be off grid short term. We are planning for that so we can still exist and be comfortable.

    I loved a woman like you once, life took a toll with her family. She was so vibrant and we explored the west, I sure miss her and being out in the wilds. Maybe this encourages me to try again.

      Life is sad sometimes. I certainly know what you mean. I too loved a woman like her. She had such adventure. She just past away, had lots of adventures with her. She is my mom.

    I’m with you on the RV/generator/noise situation. I grew up tent camping and feel closer to nature that way. I like the peace and quiet also! Brooke, you are an inspiration! Thank you.

    It’s been 25 years ago now, we were heading out for my families spring campout. I asked my son where he wanted to camp that year. In the woods where we normally camp or at a camp ground. He was horrified, that I would even think about camping with other people around us. He commented that he could not put up with all the noise that other people would make and we would not be able to shoot the guns while in camp. One of the comments about noise was generator noise, Funny!
