James, i know your ceiling is all installed but next time (on your next home) only nail into the tongue. That’s the beauty of tongue and groove, the hardware is hidden. Also, cut your planks so they end on a stud or rafter in this case. Keep up the great work.

My wife and I lived in Alaska for 6 years while I wrapped up my Army career. During that time we lived in a cabin not much larger than what you have there. The owner had installed a circular bolt at the top of the cabin attached to a 25' plastic wrapped dog cable (like your aircraft cable). We would go out after a big show and whip the wire up to the roof and 1 person could pull it tight, then pull it across the roof and all the snow would sluff off. Now, it's much colder up there, so we didn't have to fight the wet snow very often. That may be a hinderance. But that is a quick, cheap, easy solution to clear both sides with minimal effort. Just a suggestion. Excellent episode! Happy New Year, James! *GRUNT* of approval :)

Nice episode ! For your starlink , i installed a bunch of them for customers, in your case i would suggest that you buy the roof mount or wall mount and put it at the highest point of of your roof ( back ) the wire should be long enough to run under your flashing !
You will see speed different’ce when there’s nothing in front of it !
    Keep the good work !

Little trick for your roof snow sluffing. Get some ceramic car paint spray and spray the roof at the beginning of snow season. You don't need to rub it in, this will cause the snow to slide off. Try some on a scrap piece of roofing first. This also works on a snow blower, I spray the rotator and blower insides as well as the chute the snow (even wet) does not clog up and it also goes much further away. if you have to leave the snow mobile / ATV outside spray it also and the snow will fall off easily. You are doing a great job! looking forward for the "visitor" segment.

good to see you back, couple of suggestions. 1. I would move your star link to the gable end cause I would think snow sliding off the roof would damage it. and 2. get a roof rake to make cleaning snow off the roof easier.

As an Alaskan that builds in the bush I’ve had snow machines and atvs on tracks. Snowmachine hands down. Atv tracks always pop off and leave you stranded, they break axles. Won’t go through any deep snow. Snow machines go anywhere and do anything!

I do hope those tracks work out for you. FYI, go carefully. ATVs are very powerful, and with those tracks not giving up traction so easily, stress elsewhere might very well cause worst problems. Transmission, clutch, drive belt are first up for excessive wear and tear. Snowmobiles are great cause they ride on top of the snow, rather than claw themselves over or thru the snow.

You need 4in portals and 32in tires on your Honda the portals with give u 4in lift and gear reduction and since you do a lot of towing with the four wheeler that’ll help a lot and the tire with obviously help with bad conditions they also make high clearance/ arched upper and lower control arms for more ground clearance with deeper ruts

Been reading through the comments and im compiled a list of excellent pointers/tips
    1) Get a plow for your ATV
    2) Put the Starlink on the highest point of your roof and run the cable under the flashing, will give you the best speeds
    3) get somthing just a tad wider than your ATV that weighs just enough to smooth out and conpress the snow, run this in conjunction with the plow youll automatically knock down the highpoints and compress and level out the trail.
    4) Install solar pannels on your roof and have them hooked up to a huge battery youll charge the battery in the summer and use the stored energy in the winter. (May take a couple winters to get the right size battery(s) to last you the winter) you could also expand this network over all your roofs and have a outhouse to house your batteires. Store enough energy you may even have enough to have some back up emergency electric heaters for the harshest of winter nights.
    5) get your ATV a garage/shelter to stop it wheathering and to pro long its life, build the shelter big enough to house your ATV and maybe a snowmobile in the future.
    6) Get somthing proper to clear your roof whether its a rope or a rake

You will be amazed how effective your ATV will be for clearing snow on your path, parking area, around the cabin. If you have a heavy dump take the snow away in layers with the plow angled. I was a skeptic and I was proven very very wrong. Love your channel.

    Saturday complete ✅
    Great episode ✅
Guest cabin coming on nicely ✅
Great to see you back, things are looking great at the cabin. I think a wall mounted fold down table is needed for meal times etc
