- Forest Master FM4DDE Compact 4HP Electric Wood Chipper.
The patent-pending (GB2008049.5) Wood Chipper is capable of chipping wood up to 50mm (2 inches) in diameter, powered by a 4HP electric motor which is powered from standard household mains.
The motor rotates the chipper drum at a maximum of 2800 RPM. This enables it to easily chip all kinds of freshly cut wood from hard to soft. The compact garden shredder is small and lightweight so can easily be stored away in a garden shed.

A quick question. Do the Conifer branches need to be dry? I've tried them freshly cut but the machine keeps getting blocked.
Hi Neil, the branches should be dry for the chipper - wet green material can get clogged up in the drum if there's a bulk of it. If you have a lot of green waste to process (wet or dry), take a look at our brand new garden shredder mulcher machine which can mulch pretty much anything you throw at it without issue or blocking.

Is it available a model with an electric motor by 3 Kw? In Italy is the standar "size" of electric contract.
For 4 Kw you have to ask for a "specific" contract.

I have been thinking of getting one but I am unsure between the electric and the petrol version.
In the manual, it says you can only use a maximum of 10m extension cord. I would need my 50m extension cord would it still work?
Also, it's a 4HP electric motor against a 6HP petrol engine but the same 50mm diam max size. Does that make sense?

Extension cables inherently experience a power loss of approximately 1 volt per meter. Consequently, extending a cable beyond 10 meters results in a cumulative power loss of 10 volts. Given that our motors are optimally designed for 230/240 volts, using less than 220 volts can overload the motor.
Most household mains typically operate at 230v/240v, but we recommend verifying your voltage levels, as operating at lower voltages can impact machine performance over time.
Using a 2.5mm cable for the extension is crucial, and it should be fully unwound during operation. While some customers have operated at 200 volts without immediate issues, prolonged use at this level may eventually lead to motor failures.

Does it shredd even fresh leaves from laurel or is better only as a chipper?
Hey! The FM6DD is more of a chipper than a mulcher, it's best used for chipping freshly cut soft or hard wood. We have tested the chipper on laurel and had success by adjusting the blade gap. We are also currently working on a mulching exit shoot for all garden waste.

No, can't find anything like this stateside. I hate how many superior products are available in the UK and Europe that are unavailable here. It's like American manufacturers are inferior on purpose.
@@9988ScooterGirl The reason these more powerful ones exist in Europe is because they run 240v standard electrical, allows double the horsepower. All we get in North America is 120v unless you get an electrician to wire a special plug.
