  • Franck Muller and his company have gone through wild swings, but there are some great deals and watches to be found in the brand.

The only FM that will be collectable will be the “Crazy Hours”

The FM Crazy Hours certainly does stand out from the other offerings from the brand.
I don’t remember any model numbers or names off the top of my head, but Franck did have some other interesting complications too. None so unique (at the time) as the Crazy Hours, though.

Movement scandal killed this brand for collectors. A true watch artisan listened to the accountsnts and business men instead of being fp journe before fpj. Crazy hours will get some attention but nothing to crazy

I have three FM and I love them: 7000 DF, a double faced chronograph, the back is a stop watch. Master Banker, the only affordable three time zone that you can set each time zone individually. Crazy hour Long Island, fun jump hour mechanism.

I have a FM 7000 ( white gold) ,as you sugest I bought it second hand for what I think less than half the retail price, to be honest I don't mind it is a ETA movement, maybe easier to service. Always great to see your knowledge!!

The most common automatic movement Franck Muller uses are the ETA 2892A2 and Soprod A10. They also use the ETA 7750 and ETA 2000, all with platinum rotors! Due to the controversies their resale value has tanked, so now some of them sell under the scrap gold price.

As long as collectors are willing to put up with a "treasure hunt" (or a snipe hunt) as far as FM movements are concerned, HRM, they can be a great buy. Take care, Bill

Their OG duo faced models with the telemeters on the back and rattrapante function is amazing. Would love one of those but not the re-imagined version that was created with Revolution.
The new Long Island with the jumping hours AND jumping minutes complication is pretty nice as well. Pity no one covered it at the watch fair. Could be biased or maybe there wasn't a working prototype yet available.

Ha! I had the same thoughts so about a year ago I bought the most basic Casablanca 6850 to "test the waters". It says "Master of complications" on the caseback :) The Caliber is 2800 (ETA 2892-A2), so a bit of a joke. The rotor is supposed to be platinum. Runs very well. The overall finish and quality, strap etc. is very good. The curved glass would probably is a nightmare to repair if chipped. The comfort on the wrist is superb. The overall looks with the case and the crystal shape and the lettering font and hands is very interesting and unusual and I like it. Is it worth 2000 Bucks? I don't know, maybe, maybe not.
P.S. I keep on going back to your older videos I didn't appreciate 2 - 3 years ago. I'm starting to understand them now. Thanks for a good job.

Didn’t know much about watches at the time and, although I like the watch I don’t think that I got value for money. Wouldn’t buy it again even at half price but I’m not sure I’m being fair.

The biggest problem with Franck Muller watches is the quantity of illegal copies, I personally think the copies surpasses the quantity of originals. {Copying is the highest form of flattery } this is brought to a zenith.
I just can’t remember but a group such as Citizens or Bulova has a specific line of watches which has the blessing of Franck Muller or Richard Mille. These are pretty much in the same lines (aesthetically) but less expensive (with no rare metal). Let us not forget that F.M. had tried on an agreement with the SWATCH group a number of years ago.
If somebody could confirm which outfit is dealing with a Curvex line ( aesthetically ) but not bearing the name, thanks in advance.

I was surprised that there seemed to be so many 'FM illegals'- or quasi-legal FM watches, John. In 2017 they went 'bankrupt' for a week over a small unpaid bill. There's a lot of weirdness in FM. Take care, Bill

They do Robert, but they have a way of shooting themselves in the foot-like the 2017 'Bankruptcy' that was all about an unpaid 50 CHF bill ... the 'Bankruptcy' only lasted 8 days, but those kinds of slip-ups can doom a company's reputation. Take care, Bill

This brand is the precursor to the current Hublot in terms of reputation now.
In Japan there are many FM collectors who love the older stuff.
Like some viewers I cannot disagree that the Crazy Hpurs is probably their most interesting watch and the Master Banker was the boss in the early 2000s.
Who know? 20 years from now the two modes could be regarded as Neo vintage models loved by a new group of younger collectors? Only time will tell.
