    I knew she had a nice rack, but wow! The support looks great and having them slightly separated is just icing on the cake. I bet they look better in person, I hope to get my hands on a set like that sometime soon. I’m not sure if I’ll go with black ones, I thought they looked better bare. Ok, I’m done. Happy fish keeping everybody!

    Those stands look really cool! I love the stagger look. My only concern is the legs getting kicked out possibly?. I noticed there is no bottom bracing like a lot of stands have.

    I would strongly consider a runner board across the bottom of the legs. The issue is if there is a lateral force applied, like if someone tripped into it, that whichever leg has the most friction will take most of the momentum, and could very well snap, and then ofc just domino from there. If you have a runner board, the issue as negated and it will even out stress/momentum across the whole base.

    Lowe's has some nice long cheap led lights that work great for plants. I worked in a mom and pop shop and that's what we used and they worked great. We just mounted them with little hooks under the stands and hung them from the tops. Just a idea :).

    Looks great. I don't know the expense involved but I want to build a heavy duty hanging shelf that can support a trough-like aquarium that's divided several times and turn it into a slow moving river system for multiple bettas. They only thing I'm hung up on is filtration; making sure there's enough in the middle sections and not too much on the ends.

  • @DTrain0317
    @DTrain0317 4 года назад

    I guess we were doing about the same thing during these nice warm days. Too bad it is cold today. I built a shelf I could put two ten gallon aquariums on along with some nice house plants (probably some ferns and a couple of bonsai trees) and made some support for a desk so I could put my 29 gallon on it. They will all be on one side of my room.
    Building my own custom light stand too, so the light will not be shining at me, and only at the tanks and plants on this 6 foot long shelf I created.

They look AMAZING, BTW!!!

    Nice Racks! Been working on one for a 60 gallon using 2x4's. What's a good tip to avoid twisted lumber. Had a couple of twisted ones that messed up the frame. In that the frame wouldn't sit flat but would rock back and forth.
