His car is whole ass generating lift
Its a pro move. The fastest way to complete a hillclimb is clearly to just fly.
The body panels don't affect downforce that way with exported cars

Some might say the spoiler in car #1 is in the way and you can't see but ACTUALLY it lifts up when going fast, so it just makes you go faster because otherwise you can't see. That's smart engineering right there

This was so much fun. I love how everyone who gets into Automation to make cars for Beam always makes exactly the same mistakes as a beginner (way too much power). It's all part of the journey and there's always more to learn!

2:06:21- Apart from about.. 800 extra peak horsepower, a friend literally built exactly this design out of a 740 station wagon, pretty much with the same planning and thought of engineering as Jimmy here. The cylinders were bored by hand, the block was, I think, hammered by drunk dwarves, the valves were never aligned for operating speeds, and the turbo sounded like a spiteful, wounded dragon. It was undrivable, useless for anything than spinning a lot. And it supposedly destroyed itself one day on a normal cruise at 2500rpm, probably longing itself sick for the dream of smooth travel at over 70km/h. It was called the "Volvex" for as long as the memory of it survived.

@@stefan2566 This video is now unlisted, meaning you got to have a direct link or the tab still open from when it was live. It isn't visible in Jimmy's channel anymore. Usually this stream will be back to public in an empty 'upload slot' in a couple days I guess. Sometimes streams never go public again, if i'm not mistaken. If it's unlisted, and not private, you can have them saved in your favorites or custom folder to return to whenever you like. Hope this helps.

Jimmy can you take a look at Split Second? It's very much an underated arcade racer from 2010. Basically Burnout directed by Michael Bay overdosed on explosions.
Potentially redundant tip:
Always put V-tech cam to 100.
Less stroke = more rpm limit.
Smaller engine = even more rpm limit.
You cant set variable valve timing profiles. You can set vvl profile though, and you basically just get another cam profile slider, which yes, you should set to highest in most cases.
In a race motor why would you want 2 cam profiles kind of like what V Tech offers? wouldnt you just want the most lift and duration possible and go with one large profile? It's not Like you need to save gas so why would you need the smaller lift profile it's not gonna be on the street or anything it's a race engine. Just a question
@@tommyhallum2054 It's because depending on the RPM speed, the air and fuel moving into the engine begins to have a delay. Having an aggressive lift profile means that you offset this delay so that at high RPM you have a more efficient burn, thus producing better power at higher revs. The downside is that your lift is offset the opposite way at low RPM, essentially chocking the engine. A variable cam profile allows you to have an optimal burn window at low RPM and an optimal burn window at high RPM. In a race situation, maybe you don't ever need to go down to low revs, but off the line and in hard acceleration on shortshift corners, it does make a difference. It's not just about saving fuel, it's about power in the low range.
You really did a stellar job on that NA car man, ive got my fair (~500) hours in automation and driving them in beam but you really made a lad

Tips:
1) Lower tire pressure
2) adjust brake bias
3) put the car in sport (traction) mode.
4) Mid-engine flat 6 usually has the best weight ratio and center of gravity.
5) Take more time adjusting suspension
6) Torque and power delivery is more important than peak power for a Hillclimb car.
i am here 2 years later. this is one of my fave alternatives to watching LOTR because its roughly the same length of time as the two towers
notes, "lips" like the diffuser there, and the front lip you put on do nothing. What you're better off doing is putting on wings like you did, but for the front, make them invisible by going into paint option>global>transparent if you also want to be able to change the aero on the fly, check out my latest video, it has a small tutorial on how to implement a slider for downforce adjustment (because automation downforce numbers mean nothing in beamng)
