For you Big Rich, watching Tracy is a Labour of Love, always has, always will be. No apologies are needed. I 've thru the same thing when my son had cancer, and a year later I took care of a lady during her final months, You are the best, but take care of yourself too. SFMF!
If it's only 2 years old then everything is free including the service call. It's still got years left on the warranty!!! Also if you let the company that installed it know that you have a person who needs constant medical attention and care then it will be a priority call and 99.9% of the time they will come out ASAP. I know we do.

Attn Rich: If your coolant leaked the a-frame "evaporator coil" wouldnt be able to form frost. Certain factors like high humidity, restrictive filter, improper vent flow can trigger a freeze up. These freeze ups become apparent when running the unit for extended periods on hot days. If this happens run the fan for an hour with AC mode off to defrost and dry off the coil before tuning the AC on again. Make sure the filter is clean and do not use those merv rated pleated paper filters use the cheap blue ones. Another way to deal with this cheaply is to make sure you have a modern thermostat that allows you to tweak maximum on/off cycle times so you can allow a 45 minute break every 90 minutes of run time ( my ecobee allows this). You can also program how long the fan runs after the heat pump shuts off to help keep it dry. Sorry im 9 days late and hope the hvac guy didnt scam you too hard.
Thank you for the info. He said the motherboard was bad from the furnace snd it was under warranty. So we're still waiting for z replacement :)

My AC broke 7 days ago. Western PA been HOT (Pittsburgh) so basically same weather as yinz. I don't have the money right now to fix it. It's been bad. I have been getting relief with double window fans. In the mid morning I have them on exchange and then at night both on blow in it's been helping. Stay cool 🙏🏼 prayers for Tracey.
Great job on getting Tracy taken care of . I know what you sre going through. My Mother was on a ventilator for 5 and 1/2 years do to her having her colon perferate in six different areas. She recovered with an ostomy for 11 more years we had her with us. You are doing a great job taking care of Tracy. I know it gets very hard at times but it is all worth it definitely. I know she will recover to the best of her ability . With all the love and support coming her way she has to know she is well loved. It just takes time for the body to heal. Stay strong.

Big rich go hire a portable AC they hire them
Could be your condensate drain is clogged causing water to build up in the pan under the evaporator coil and the water gets on the coils and makes it freeze up. Then surrounding air melts the outer layer of ice. Someone argued this with me once, but when the AC tech came, he verified the condensate line was clogged. The freon pipes should be brazed and not leaking. If the freon IS low, then the evap coil will freeze up because the pressure is too low in the coils. Also, this condition shows itself when the filters get dirty, and air flow is compromised.

Portable ac unit. U can send the discharge elsewhere with its ducting it comes with. U need to run a piece of soft tubing for the water drain.

Sounds like the condensate drain is stopped up. Always keep u a window unit as a backup for emergency. I could walk u threw this on the phone if u want

Well the end was just a temporary fix that aggravates me and yhe nurses because we need access to Tracy to work on her . But we will deal with that so she is comfortable. :) till we get the ac fixed

Dry ice is solid CO₂ gas, not the best to breathe in too much.
Check your blower fan speed or if it went out. If it's to low or out that would also cause the coils to freeze inside the furnace.
Big Rich. As a person who did caregiving for a family member for a long long time. I know what you mean. It's so emotionally wearing and it is so hard to get back into your own groove, especially while still being a caregiver. Your body your mind, everything, doesn't focus on you. Bless you. As for Skylar. She needs to be a big girl and get herself up. Today, I'm the one with health issues I know 1st hand It's hard to get up and going in the morning, but that isn't your responsibility that is Skylar's and Skylar's alone.
He was talking about getting her up early and not to be a prick but that's not her responsibility he's said that numerous times although he's also said she helps so much

It's been anywhere from 109 to 112 where I'm at. My cooler barely worked. It was still over 90 in my bedroom and upper 80s in the rest of the house. I hope your AC gets fixed quickly.

Im surprised you have to wait for service on your air conditioning most business have a emergency list for customers that have people on nursing support or life support people that need assistance they put them on first priority. You should call the company back and see if they can get you on this list
I aspirated in my sleep Dec 2022, I ended up stopping my heart 4 times, went into massive organ failure. Was in the hospital for over a week. ICU on a ventilator for 4 days. It’s no joke for sure!

For the future if this comes up, you could also look into a home made evaporative cooler, ie you could still use the fan, but have it evaporate water to cause the cooling. Lots of videos on youtube it looks like for that. Hope they get the official AC fixed sooner vs later. I wonder if something like that could help cool off the pool room in the summer if that gets too hot...ie you could use it there all the time as needed in the summer until you need it in the house.
I literally just went in to tell my wife this. Big Rich the way he takes care of Tracy I can't imagine one individual in the entire world doing what he does to the extent he does. 🤯 Really the whole family!🤔😁 I could see people doing it for a couple of months but the amount of time he's done this is incredible! Makes normal motals look like a piece of 💩💩💩! Super duper mad respect!😎

Just get a window unit for one room. Or area you are creating for Tracey. That should cool down a small area adequately. Also Costco has great portable AC units for $500. ❤❤❤. We are having the longest heatwave in central CA in 50 years, maybe ever. It’s been over 108 going on week 2, and not going to cool down much until next week, plus the pull is 97 so not cool at all. Luckily the HVAC is doing great keeping us at 73-74.
My windows are a up and down window about 12 inches wide and 5 foot tall. They crank out to the right
Would it be possible to modify the roof to be a green roof? It could help with the energy bills and keep the house more energy efficient. There are some cheaper options that you could do.

The windows ate weird. There 5 foot tall and 1 foot wide and crank open from the right . No air conditioner will fit it
God bless. i broke my neck and severed my spinal cord 12 years ago and the first few weeks i had a trake so i couldn't talk and i couldn't move any limbs for a few weeks so i know how fast things can change. Fortunately my arms came somewhat back and the trake is out but i understand what you're going through i still need lot of help myself :)

Turn the ac unit to off turn the fan to on and let it defrost the A coil it’ll help cool the house. Once it defrosts you can turn the ac back on until you can get the A coil cleaned or the unit recharged if needed.
U might have liquidslugged ur compressor u need a new ac sorry it sux but

Get a portable ac unit.for tracey. Outside units don't last anymore .
You have to buy a quality unit. You get what you pay for.
@BigRich You can go get a portable AC at Lowes or Home Depot . Then return it after the week, because it doesn't keep large enough area cool.

Skylar needs to grow up. I couldn't have someone like that living under my roof. Sounds like your A-coil froze up. If you bought a cheaper AC system to save money you will have nothing but trouble with it and since it's only 2 years old you will spend more money keeping it running than you saved in the first place. You get what you pay for with AC systems. Watch some videos on here to find out which systems to avoid and which ones that will last years and years with little or no problems. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

We have done before camping is made a cooler with a small fans PVC pipe and dry ice works awesome
