Yeah i rarely watch a video over 15 min but in this i did not saw its an hour long and noticed why video's not done yet and was already 25 min into it. Nice job very interesting story that was 🐟
With your Dad being a garden designer, maybe you could interview him on how he decided what plants would go into your garden, maybe at like a 3 month update?
@@fishwithcarl I would love to know what some of the plants are as well, there are some really cool ones in there. I'm a little surprised there aren't any plants in the pond for shade or hiding places, but I don't know a lot about koi, maybe that's not usually part of a koi pond.

I wonder if it would work putting a half submerged 360° camera in the middle for a livestream so one could look down and around at the carp, and up and around for squirrels, birds, and humans peaking over the wall…..
This was so wholesome. I’m not really interested in fish in general but I couldn’t stop watching this video. It’s amazing and congratulations to having your dream pond.
Well, just over an hour ago, I had no clue about koi or ponds, but I've been absolutely glued to this, second by second. Similaryly, a year ago i had no idea about gardening and right now, im sitting surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers and fairy lights, learning about ponds. My garden is my refuge, a bit like your fish are for you.
Carl the biggest inspiration to us all. Started from the bottom and now look where he is.. watched you guys since you where little kids when I was just a kid. I’m now 21 and still watch you. You deserve it more than anyone you’ve worked and work so hard for this. Thanks for all the good memories watching you’re videos when I was younger. A true inspiration. ❤
Honestly did not expect that I would sit through the whole hour but I loved seeing this process! Now I'm inclined to start planning one of these too! Great production mate!
Carl not just the pond but you have come a long way I’m really happy to see how much you’ve improved with everything and the pond looks brilliant thanks for all the effort from us all
I love the single color fish too! I feel to busy with colors and patterns takes away from the majesty of the animal! The blue one is definitely my favorite! I’m gonna suggest Luna as it’s name since it’s kinda Greyson like the moon.
I need to see more people like this, people who openly have this kind of passion for something, I mean it's really easy to see just how much you love all of this, the fish, the filtration system, the proses of building this entire thing, it's really heartwarming to see
So cool! My dad and I built a pond in my parents back yard. It is 4 feet deep, 5 feet wide, and 8 feet long. Hand dug it all! Built a waterfall going into it as well. Have some beautiful koi in there 😍
What a beautiful space you've created. It looks gorgeous next to your nextdoor neighbor's stone patio in the aerial views too. I'm glad you got the steel colored one! It actually looked quite striking in the dealer tank among all the orange and gold. I've never seen a koi like that.
Thanks to you and your brother I am now falling down the koi and bee keeping rabbit hole, found out about the local bee keeping society and planning my visit for the first honey harvest next year and also planning to grow some veggies in my kitchen because I don't have a garden or a balcony. You two are contagious with your fascination for your hobbies and new interests.
Wow, an hour video that's actually edited all the way. The amount of dedication for this one video is insane, it deserves so much more love than it has, you deserve so much more❤️
27:07 I’m only this far in. The way you did this video is so captivating. Everytime I think it’s coming to a slow less interesting part, the screen does a transition and you come back in with more information about everything and do such a great job of explaining that I’m stuck and don’t wanna click off haha great work
i really love all the colours of the fish you bought, and honestly i don’t think the grey one is boring at all! it looks like a silver fish among the gold ones. your guy’s whole garden design is truly beautiful, i can’t imagine how you guys decorated your home ✨ and a possible fish name for the grey one could be ‘lume’? it’s a short term for the luminous phosphorescent glowing solution applied on watch dials; but it also means light.
Love the pond build and all the fish. I love all things shiny, so I absolutely love any gin rin koi, you can get some absolutely stunning gin rin chags that just sparkle. I do love the orange one with the black pinecone markings. I've been planning a pond build for a year or two, I'd love to fill it with one of each type of koi however I think I'd have to go down the route of growing from fry to afford the ones I want and then watch them grow. Think you should name one Bob ☺️
I just spent an hour watching this with my daughter. For some reason, it was a beautiful, magical hour. Thank you for sharing your wonderful journey. We shared it together, with you. Precious for me. Thank you.
What a way to spend an hour! - amazing video and cinematography. I’ve been watching your content for years and you’ve never made a bad film yet. Thanks Carl!
This is honestly amazing, love seeing just normal guys doing something that makes them happy. Its the simple things in life that do it, added bonus that the Mrs is on board. Would love an update every 3 months or so on the pond and the garden which your dad has done an awesome job on. Totally different scale but I have a 500L cichlid tank in my house and sit by it for hours at night, its my happy place in a mad house with 2 little girls haha.
Ah mate :) thanks so much - really appreciate that and happy you enjoyed the film. Yeah Dad did so good with the garden, been great seeing it mature. Having a hobby like this means a lot and have finally let myself have get fully into it has been amazing. Brings much needed calm and a lot of joy as it sounds like you get with your fish keeping - a 500L Cichlid tank sounds unbelievably awesome! For sure, would've loved to have filmed a bit more of the pond this year but things got a bit busy! will definitely have something out next Spring, and will try to do an autumn update next year also.
Everything turned out so beautiful. I love the wisteria. The cedar, I feel was a great choice. Everything has a great eye appeal. Great job to all involved.
I’m sure 8yo you would be blown away. Great to see you socialising around the pond & enjoying it for what it’s for. 👍 I have learned alot from this vid about ponds gardening & life. 🙏thank you 👍👍👍👍👍
The space looks like a wonderful sanctuary for you and your family!! I wonder if the fish get bored with no rocks, hides, vegetation, foliage, or hardscape?
@Max Mock Not sure sure about your logic there. Fish have personalities and can become bored, "depressed," extra agressive, and/or stressed from lack of stimulation. From the viewers perspective, also, don't you find aquariums with reefs or vegetation much more interesting to watch than the empty tanks in restaurants or fish stores? Do a quick Google search before posting untrue opinions.
@Max Mock They need hides and shade, lilies and other vegetation is highly recommended by koi keepers. That to me doesn't sound like they like bland environments. But it's your life and fish... I suppose if you're ok with them being bored, there's no arguing with stubbornness. Good luck 🤟
I want to be honest with you I haven't sat through a video in a long time I sat through this whole thing I actually cried a couple times because I thought your excitement and your the love for these fish but I like how at the very end you said that you secretly are learning to love gardening that happened to me in my thirties it changed my life I never knew how wonderful it was to watch it grow and it changed and it was beautiful so thank you so much for sharing this video and your relationship with all the people in your life and your dad and your lady there I like her name when I wish you guys nothing but great happiness
"When you've had enough you can just... switch em off" must be the most relatable sentence I've seen :'D love your videos, grats on the amazing pond! Any worry over predators for open pond? Also big gold/yellow could be "Sunny side up"
Im so glad i stumbled upon this video tonight. I’ve had two bad falls in the last three days, and so it was nice to watch someone be so excited about fish! I love fish (as friends, i dont eat them), and every time you got excited about one i also got excited!

Hi! Really enjoyed watching your entire process. Thought you were pretty patient w your various leak setbacks. Gorgeous kois! Q. If plants are problematic, how about some clear tunnels...like a small obstacles course to give these intelligent creatures something to do? Maybe some big rocks too. Later, add a waterfall feature. Add a small sunsail tarp on one area if they need some shade. Q.Do you ever play classical music for them? Enjoy your cool backyard!🙂👏

I would want all of the kinds of koi!! The large, single coloured ones are so sweet and calm, but I also love the patterns of the smaller ones and a variety of sizes does a good job of filling out the pond
Before this video, I didn’t even know there was a koi community, and yet somehow you kept me fully entertained for a whole hour! This was a very well done project, a very well done video, and I’m very glad I spent my hour watching this! Thanks man!
Love from India (Kerala)❤️ watching for the first time and made me great fan of you 😍. The dreams that can't be fulfilled by us can be seen here. Great work brother.
Very well done 👏 I love the plants, especially the wisteria. I'm a new sub, so this is the 1st video I've seen. Can't wait to see what names you picked for the other 3 fish. Congrats on finishing your koi pond. Thank you for bringing us along.
I can't believe I watched the whole thing!!! I was really enjoyable seeing this process, and your love for the fish came through so clearly I didn't even think of changing the video! Absolutely LOVED this! I DO have a question though!! What happened to Charlie's eggs? Did you dispose of them, and if so why? Would really love to know your process!
Well done to you and the builders for doing a awesome job great choice in picking your koi very nice man and your dad done a great job planting out very tropical 👍
This was so fun to watch. Thank you for sharing it with us, it was so interesting to learn not only about the pond build, but the beautiful koi! Also the Pool Specialists seemed really nice.
You did a fantastic job on this whole video. I looked at the length of it and assumed I would be skipping ahead. But it was super interesting and very well done. It sped by. Thanks for all the effort in recoding and editing this. I can only imagine how long it took. Also - the single-colored fish look great. That was a surprise. Haha! Thanks for the great entertainment.
While procrastinating two projects, I think I made a good decision to watch an hour+ video because as a person who also loves sea and related creatures, there is something very inspiring about this video. Thanks! (Also it’s late but the steel and orange fish in the bucket made me think of yin and yang so there’s a name idea…)
That was the most enjoyable 1 hr watch on you tube!!! Looks amazing! Your enthusiasm.... I love fish needs. I actually yelled out loud when u save Charlie!!! Yay Charlie!!! Congratulations. Would love to see updates!!
Awesome, massive thanks for sharing, that was fascinating to watch Sir:) The way the Fish being prepared for transportation, being placed in the blue holding bowls they were not thrashing about but quite relaxed, almost as though they knew no harm was coming to them ! Big thanks again and enjoy the fruits of all your hard work and effort mate :) Well done:)
Great video. You’re backyard looks completely sick! It’s amazing the transformation. Do you think you could share the building plans and blueprints that you used to build the pond itself and the filter house ?
There should be a waterproof membrane before the concrete slab. In addition, since the concrete block wall is a retaining wall, there should be L bars connecting the foundation and the blocks and reinforced bars horizontally and vertically to keep the wall steady.
This is an excellent build! Beautiful and well made! My two cents for the bog filter is to use lava rock of varying sizes. Nitrosomonas and nitrospiria will have something like 100x more surface area to latch on to and multiply than on river rock. I use that and LECA in my aquaponics gardens and my fish tank has been ammonia and nitrite free!
Hey carl, just wandering how much the fish were in total and can you put a price next to each type of koi. Especially the last one which was the biggest and Charlie.
Don't know how I ended up here, but I want you to know that I watched your entire video and loved it. That Koi Pond looks amazing and your fish look very happy and healthy.
I’m only 18 but once I get my own house and I’m situated, i can’t wait to build my very own koi pond. I just love the look of the fish and everything about them brings me happiness…. Good video!!
One of the most impressing and beautiful videos i watched on youtube. nice you have such a joy with your dream from your childhood. and thank you for letting us be a part of this. i never had anything to do wish fishes but that was so great! Thanks a lot from germany
The viewing window is brilliant! Also, thank you for not "giving up and scrapping" the project during the difficult moments. 🏆By the way, you still have room for a🧜♀️and/or🧜!!
Great job on the koi pond! I always thought that single colored koi looked the best. Glad to see that someone else thinks that way too! Beautiful fish!!
This was such a joy to watch. I really enjoyed the entire process of it all, and to see how much love and dedication you put into this project was such a pleasure.
Massively enjoyable journey, the tougher bits making the end result more worthwhile. Somehow I missed this video at the time, great to have a compendium 🙂 I'm never happier than when I'm relaxing by my pond, my dear old friends looking at me, asking quietly if I've got any food ! Single colour fish are gorgeous and you rightly say they tend to be the most friendly, they're like friendly labradors ❤

Realising a dream like this must be overwhelmingly amazing. I’m so happy for you guys.
❤ Thank you! That's really kind :)
The backyard is just as beautiful as the pond is! And the pond is exquisite!!! Congratulations on fulfilling your dream! ☺️
Thank you :)
Before this video, I didn’t even know there was a koi community, and yet somehow you kept me fully entertained for a whole hour! This was a very well done project, a very well done video, and I’m very glad I spent my hour watching this! Thanks man!
Best cinematography cheers mate
Thank you, happy you enjoyed it :)
Love from India (Kerala)❤️ watching for the first time and made me great fan of you 😍. The dreams that can't be fulfilled by us can be seen here. Great work brother.
Hello! Thank you :)
The silver koi is my favorite one! Sterling would be a beautiful name for him.
Living the dream, amazing koi pond, love it! 😍
❤️ Thank you. Can't believe how it turned out.
@@fishwithcarl I love the koi having one solid colour as well, absolutely stunning fish 😍
Yesss! Glad you enjoy them too :)
Very well done 👏 I love the plants, especially the wisteria. I'm a new sub, so this is the 1st video I've seen. Can't wait to see what names you picked for the other 3 fish. Congrats on finishing your koi pond. Thank you for bringing us along.
You're welcome ♥ Thanks Penny!
I'm so jealous and envious!!! This is amazingly beautiful!!! Fantastic job!!! 💙 🐟

Cheers Bradley, hope you to get to one day
Same, but I would want like Crappie and Bass or something
What and awesome journey from beginning to end. I can’t wait to start my dream pond project once I get my own place.

Was super impressed with his work :)
What an achievement!! I’m so happy for you and the fish!!🤣
❤️ thank you so much :)
Ah that's so cool to hear, thank you :) glad you enjoyed it!! Yep, they weren't fertilised, so they went onto the garden.
What a brilliant video ... thanks for bringing us along on this amazing adventure!
Well done to you and the builders for doing a awesome job great choice in picking your koi very nice man and your dad done a great job planting out very tropical 👍
Thanks so much Paul ☺
OMG I’m obsessed with aquatic animals and conservation!!! Your aerial view of the pond is 💯! Your outdoor pizza oven is 😋💦 🐢
ME too ♥️ Thanks so much!!
Ahh thanks so much :) that's kind. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! You're welcome :) Glad you felt inspired!
That was the most enjoyable 1 hr watch on you tube!!! Looks amazing! Your enthusiasm.... I love fish needs. I actually yelled out loud when u save Charlie!!! Yay Charlie!!! Congratulations. Would love to see updates!!
Awesome, massive thanks for sharing, that was fascinating to watch Sir:)
The way the Fish being prepared for transportation, being placed in the blue holding bowls they were not thrashing about but quite relaxed, almost as though they knew no harm was coming to them !
Big thanks again and enjoy the fruits of all your hard work and effort mate :)
Well done:)
You're so welcome, thank you Robert! That's kind. Happy you enjoyed it :) Yes it's amazing how calm they are considering, they cope so well.
Great video. You’re backyard looks completely sick! It’s amazing the transformation. Do you think you could share the building plans and blueprints that you used to build the pond itself and the filter house ?
I’m so jealous! I’m happy that Charlie is okay. I’ve always wanted a koi pond of my own.
Love the pond, it’s so inspiring! Thank you for sharing hoping for more videos on your koi keeping journey!
You're so welcome :) Thank you! doing an update later this month.
Love your koi color choices. Not 1 that sticks out they all look great together. Backyard looks amazing. Are you going to breed any of them?
Cheers Michael! Appreciate it :) No plans to, maybe one day though!
Look forward to your next video
This was amazing to watch! Will you be adding any plants to the koi pond?
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :) No, I've tried before, but the koi destroy them very quickly!
A dream project! What a great harmonious garden. The selection of the fishes makes great sense of taste.
Thank you!
Hey carl, just wandering how much the fish were in total and can you put a price next to each type of koi. Especially the last one which was the biggest and Charlie.
I must say ,I became very emotional nearing the end whilst placing the last kio into the pond. Good job.
Thanks Clayton :)
The shot at 45:55 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 that tree by your house with the lavender bundles of flowers. Dude this is sick

The viewing window is brilliant! Also, thank you for not "giving up and scrapping" the project during the difficult moments. 🏆By the way, you still have room for a🧜♀️and/or🧜!!
Thank you :) means a lot!
What an absolutely stunning pond , now in process of building our pond that my wonderful husband is treating me for my 50th , can’t wait
Cheers Sharon!!! Ah that's awesome! Hope it's going well.
Great job on the koi pond! I always thought that single colored koi looked the best. Glad to see that someone else thinks that way too! Beautiful fish!!
People should be more like you, what a great guy. Beautiful build, well done.
What a wonderful project coming into fruition: "team-work is the dream-work" - and well worth sharing...So inspiring!
Thank you :)
Beautiful fish! I agree that red one with black scale pattern is gorgeous.
Iam 14yrs and one of my biggest dreams is to have a koi pond like yours..!! Hopefully i would have one when i grow.. 😄
This was such a joy to watch. I really enjoyed the entire process of it all, and to see how much love and dedication you put into this project was such a pleasure.
Thank you :) ahh I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
Yay, as I continue watching I’m so glad you got the red/black koi!!! ❤️
First time ever in my 25yrs of life I’ve watched a 1 hour video without pressing skip a single time till the end was definitely worth it.💯
Wow, amazing to hear that! Glad you enjoyed it :)
At like 3:15 you could see his breath and it looked like a dragons' fire breath! Very nice looking. Props to being out working in such cold weather too
This is top tier content for me. Such a beautiful build and the fish are just gorgeous ❤️
Thank you so much! Really appreciate that :)
