They should rename him Magnuts because his datasheet is nuts. You'd pay 600 points for him, he's probably the most undercosted or overpowered model in the game.
as a TSons player, when Magnus is the main thing doing work that turn (with psychic) then im picking Sustained most turns. Its only after he dies, or if i bring a 10 termie brick do i pick dev wounds
mek guns with traktor kannons are really fun in a demon filled meta. bloodthirsters, magnus, angron, mortarion, flying demon princes even flying hive tyrants, neurotyrants, monoliths, ctan shards and riptides have fallen to the silly little men.
Kinda surprised you didn't mention ignore modifiers as a way to kill him. When he can't blank damage or reduce damage by 1 or get the stealth aura...he actually dies pretty fast.
The only counter I've found to magnus is play guard and shoot every melta at him every turn and have jesus take the wheel. The one time I took him down was a lucky damage 6 melta from a rogal dorn, and the one time I tried out tsons that was also how he died.
His model comes with a spear (most normally portrayed) and a sword. But his data sheet only lists one melee weapon as Blade of Magnus. What’s the difference?
I love playing against Magnus with Skarbrand in my Daemon list. I check his -1 Damage with a Damage 6 strike profile. I can make that Damage 7 or 8 depending on how many skull thrones can see Magnus.
@@jacket2848 Oh yea, it takes strategy for sure. But it can be done. The goal is to pull him in one direction. Force him to pull Magnus to the rear where on the following turn I can Deepstrike with Skarbrand and a Bloodthirster. Or vice versa if I need to fly over his screen.
@@PhaseConnectpilledvideo is about magnus. Many armies kill CTan with volume of fire. Tsons are no different. If magnus comes into combat with the nightbringer 4inv 5fnp half’s damage T11 12w he had better have that volume of fire from the other units because he’s not coming out of it without that.
The bastard is unsurprisingly very good at command insertion as well, outside of a single game where a single castigator pretty much one shot him (a dice based miracle to be sure) I have not won a single game of 10th vs anyone with a Magnus. It's getting a little disheartening to say the least!
Yeah he's super good at it if the TS player is going second He can get out-OC'd going first, unless Thousand Sons have killed all the higher OC stuff (which tbf they prolly have)
Can you shed a bit of light on why you're saying Psychic Dominion doesn't work on things like Doombolt/Brotherhood Librarians? As you say, rules commentary clearly states that mortal wounds caused by abilities with the psychic keyword are considered psychic attacks, and psychic dominion doesn't specify that something needs to be a ranged or melee attack.
It absolutely does work against them BUT it cannot be triggered in response to them; an actual attack has to have targeted at the unit first in order for the stratagem to be used. Those are abilities that are "Psychic Attacks" that select an enemy to affect, but not "attacks" that target a unit.
Needs a vortex beast and split the 2nd 10 man into 2 5s. Also exalted sorcerers are arguably the worst sorcerer profile we have. I like taking internal masters more but that's my personal experience
Tsons need to get hit with the same hammer eldar did. Take away between a 1/4 and 1/3 of the cabal points Tsons can get in a list and theyll be balanced. You shouldn't have enough cabal points to double doombolt and move.
Honestly I hope he's nerfed for the health of the TSons faction TS lists are incredibly boring rn for one of the most intricate and interesting armies in the game
Intricate how? It's one of the smallest rosters in the game, and almost all of the generic CSM stuff they have access to doesnt have any interaction with the army rule or the detachment rule or the strategems....unless the codex totally expands and reworks the Cabal of sorcerers system (Spoiler: it won't)
@@Weed_Ghost I think he just means the army in general. Lore wise they have so many possibilities. I do think he should get toned down a bit. He can doombolt, shoots well, melee well and very durable & has movement.

I play Eldar and have 75 games of 10th, and have 13 games in 10th against thousand sons. I have won 2. I've killed him twice, and that was while wraithknights were popular. One of those was a win, the other a loss. I just don't bother playing against them anymore. It upsets me. 😅

So Magnus Chads his way confidently through a sea of enemies until he sees Greyknight psykers.
Checks out.
All my friends absolutely hate magnus 😂 . Hes cleared over 600 pts of units in a game relatively easily
Also can't help but laugh at the fact the best way to deal with Magnus, is to simply not deal with him 😂. He's that much of a jerk

Magnus cannot reduce damage taken to 0 outside of the stratagem to do so.
His wings and staff sticking out combined with a round base so he can pivot for free means he can get line of sight easily.
His wings and staff dont count for LOS I thought?
@@Theredglovedman Line of sight can be drawn from any part of a model - so they definitely do...
