I sought out a vindicator when they were 210pts. When it dropped to 175 I knew it was going to be a new meta. So I picked up a second one for my Daek Angel iron storm list
I love the vindicator, always have, until 10th edition. Ive played blood angels since 5th edition. I used to include a vindicator in every list. But it doesnt kill troops well, and its likely to bounce off vehicles and monsters unless they are oathed. I prefer the reapers. I can easily kill tanks in melee. In fact, i can easily kill any target in melee, its what we blood angels do. That said, baal preds and reapers keep me from having to engage so much infantry.
As a professional camping Imperial fist player. Yes they have very good damage output. But seeing as i can have these camp objective markers and benifit from both heavy when not moving. Along with various strats being tied to being on objectives or my deployment zone. Can be a usefull defensive tool also.
Running a pair in Firestorm or Gladius will open your eyes. Firestorm's +1 Str inside of 12 is easier to do than you'd think; then you get to wound most everything on 3s or 2s. Use the +2 to wound while engaged for some cheap laughs. In Gladius, with Devastator and the Storm of Fire to ignore cover, you can delete Land Raiders like a boss.
It's just a matter of when. Once GW phases out Tactical Marines/Devastator Marines, that's likely when the Rhino/Razorback is phased out. When the Rhino kit is phased out, I reckon Predators, Vindicators and Whirlwinds are next. I reckon that since we already have successors in the Impulsor and Gladiator, they will probably come up with some "Support Impulsor" than can be built with a frontal siege cannon/mortar or rear mounted missile system. I'm just not sure if the Rhino goes first or if the Predator, Vindicator and Whirlwind go first. Personally I think Tactical Marines, Devastators and Rhino kits are phased out when all main Astartes factions have their Primaris line. Possibly end of 10th edition or early 11th.
