  • In today's video, I have a single match that I played in the I-225, and It turned into a fight for my life. Luckily, the I-225 is fully capable of handling multiple vs. 1 situations at high altitude, so I was able to keep my advantage and fight until the end of the match.
    Thanks for watching!

    P47D28’s engine also performs INSANELY well at above 5500 meters. It actually almost becomes unstoppable

      Yeah the 5.0 P47s are also great picks for high altitude, but I personally enjoy the I225 more because it has better acceleration and climb, and 20mm

    Still annoying how the devs model compressibility correctly on I-225 bit not for every other plane

    This plane has a bf 109k4 engine performance at 5.0, but it sucks because it has no high-speed handling.

      This plane is anything but bad. As long as you avoid compressing, the I225 is top 3 on my list of 5.0 props in the entire game.

    Nice ! So you've gotten about a 100 kills in that thing, congrats !
    It's a pain to fight at high altitudes, even with something like the Ki-83, simply because it won't stop climbing until it overheats or the pilot dies lol
    Very well done anyways, it's even more impressive when you're alone !

    one day i hopped to my match with my friend with this thing, saying, "oh hey if i get 5 kills i get to 200 kills with this beast", he died in his 2nd dog fight, i remained the last one and started to get kill after kill until i ended up with 6, i simply love this thing

    I have 3 things to say:
    1. Not every pilot can survive and win that situation you were in, very nice fight!
    2. I also used to have that aim with the Yak-3, I think I am getting that aim back.
    3. Good job man! +1 sub.

      I don’t usually fly low tier planes, as it feels like bullying people who are new to the game. The lowest I normally go is 3.0, which has the 190 a1, which I could make a vid on in the future.

    Tupairofaces here, it's got 5.3/5.7 performance at 5.0 it should not be able to face 109f4 fighters at all. The only problem it has is it has so much horse power and acceleration that even diving for 4 sec out of a stall you'll start to compress

    • @MacWithGun
      @MacWithGun  2 месяца назад

      Yeah the plane is too fast for its airframe, and can start compressing in a straight line, but besides that, this plane is extremely good and I wouldn’t have a problem with an increase in BR.

    Been wanting to try out the I-225, but i've been avoiding it cuz of the bad overheating problems i kept seeing on videos covering it. After seeing yours here tho, what are your MEC settings for it?

    • @MacWithGun
      @MacWithGun  2 месяца назад +1

      When not in combat situations, I recommend having prop pitch set to 97-98%, and then the full 100% for most combat situations, as this doesn’t decrease performance too much while really helping the engine cooling.
      You should be able to leave the radiator on 75% for at least half the game, go higher if needed.
      The real problem is the oil radiator. I would keep this on 90-100% for the entire game, but it still overheats.
      Also, keep in mind that I wasn’t overheating this game because was at high altitude and on a cold map, which helps engine temps.

    how do you handle the mixture in that thing practically?

    • @MacWithGun
      @MacWithGun  2 месяца назад +2

      For most planes, I leave the mixture untouched, at 60%
      Once you reach 6km and above, you should start reducing the mixture around 8-10% for every km of altitude you gain above 6km.
      An exception is P-47s:
      85% prop pitch, 90% mixture.

    what is the advantage of using flaps at 10:25-10:30? Doesn't it just slow you down?

    • @MacWithGun
      @MacWithGun  2 месяца назад

      In that situation, I was firmly on his 6, and I kept my flaps down to pitch up for the shot faster and make the shot easier. The i225 has plenty of power to keep accelerating even with flaps fully down.
