Kurt has his share of haters that are quick to tell us Nirvana were an average band, however anyone who has watched Unplugged NY in it's entirety would agree it is an incredibly good performance from start to finish. Few bands have a performance even half as good and you have to go to legend status to even find a performance that can be in the same conversation as Unplugged NY.
Thank you very much for this video, it’s been a while since I’ve become very interested by the mtv unplugged series, at the time I was 15 and that was just happening and was good, today I realize how remarkably well produced and what an amazing outcome had for so many bands and for us the audience. I come from Argentina, they also did it with the Latin American and Spanish rock bans from that time and they’re just amazing, how lucky are we those who lived and appreciate that time in rock n’ roll. Thanks again.
I really appreciate this channe so muchl, while it covers the same topics and conversations on Nirvana that have been said and heard before, but to me they do it in such a way that's very informative educative retrospect view. The begging focusing on the orgins of unplugged was such a delight as that was all very new to me.
The album has this haunting feel, purely because of nirvana’s sound, the covers, and especially the conversations between the band members, heightened by knowing one of them would soon be dead
I knew McCartney did the first one but didn't know he came up with the idea. Wish he done it again later when he realised people put loads of effort into it as McCartney's was really casual and stuck to it being acoustic completely whilst everyone else used electric
another one of the hundreds of famous significant things started by Paul Mcartney, I imagine he wouldn't have even realised what he started until much later
Nirvana and Kurt Cobain are definitely better power Punk Rock musicians and they are more honest band than Alice and Chains. Even though I think Pearl Jam could overcomes grunge period until nowadays, Nirvana still rocks in the youngest generations for a reason, honestly Nirvana was last Real World Rock and Roll 🎸 Band!!! NIRVANA LIVES ON!
Alice In Chains just did their songs tho didn’t play covers and do what nirvana did. Not to take away from them but they did what everyone else did but they had a great performance nonetheless
I do like the album, and even though this doesn't apply to a couple of the songs, it has to be said cobains voice was worse on a lot of the songs than any other album. I mean he was just screeching for a lot of it...Glad it succeeded anyway and has its own unique sound but his voice was terrible.
They're one of the most overrated bands of all time. If Kurt wasn't a pretty boy they'd be getting nowhere. Their uniqueness is eventually a noisy sound. I don't find it fine in any way.
Overreaction... I like Nirvana but no, that unplugged was a mess and many people should not idolatrize Nirvana/Kurt, appreciate it with reasoning please. And yes, AiC unplugged is the real blast, accept the fact.
I give credits to their "new" approach anyway, as it happened kinda 3 years before the AiC one. But if any of you watch both, you see the different level of labor/heart put.
"No one clapped, they hated it" meanwhile everyone really just had their minds blown. Crazy how tough he was on himself
Exactly one of the main reasons I believe he did actually kill himself
« I can't top that last song »

a "really good version" of "where did you sleep last night?" is an understatement😭,this was a nice vid btw☺👍
I bought a turntable and a stereo a few months back, and when I saw this record, I had to buy it immediately.
The soundtrack of my life. The first album I've ever had. Still, 30 years later and a bunch of music listened, a top 10 in my personal ranking.
The Alice In Chains one is top notch, from start to finish.
IMO AIC was the best unplugged, with nirvana being a very close second
The AIC one and STP ones were better.
AIC/Layne is always the cool choice in any poll. But the wrong choice, though.
@@bassplayer536 nope lol
From start to finish it's brilliant the way he walks on stage sits down to the opening chords to nutshell and starts singing it was magic

Very well made video. I know a lot about Nirvana but I found out new things while watching!
Really? You must know very little about Nirvana in that case
Grohl was right. If you watch uncut and their rehearsals - they were really bad. But what they did in the end was pure magic.
I love nirvana

nirvana unplugged was performed in late 93 not in 94 kurt died in 94
MTV Unplugged album was released by DGC Records on November 1, 1994, nearly seven months following the death of Kurt Cobain.
what but kurt died at april 5 1994
@@SoundscapesRock right, the album was released later, but they performed it in 93.

both are peak
BASIC.
Alice in chains was awesome
The Bungie sticks are great for playing quietly, plus you get great bounce from them.
Jeez that intro, I thought my headphones were turned down at first😭
I'm still disappointed the MTV unplugged series ended before Brainbombs could perform an acoustic set of their classic songs
9:00 its lead belly. lead is in the metal not what what you use to walk a dog.
AI.
Alice in Chains were better considering they hadn't even rehearsed and just totally nailed every not except sludge factory. Nirvanas my 2nd favorite

Nirvana did that in 1993.
Released in 94 tho
Have you ever watched the unplugged series? How were the artists banned from singing their hits?
AI script. AI narrator. whole video is garbage.
Kurt was already done with them by now. And that’s not friendly banter in between songs.
I think if everyone is honest it starts with Tesla's Five Man Acoustic Jam album.
Best live recording ever.

funny how they are actually all plugged in the soundboard.. Kurt's guitar had a pick up..thus it was plugged in.. should of called it mtv acoustic

alice in chains mtv unplugged is better, but nirvanas mtv unplugged is the most notable tbh
Nah, Nirvana's all day long. It's the best acoustic album there has ever been, bar none.
@@ringtail14016 cover is insane
Leadbelly is Lead like the metal, not Lead like a horse to water
tbh cobain could have just taken a dump on the stage that day and the show would still be considered legendary today.
Bryan Adams,Annie Lennox and Babyface
Kurt needed to time getting a fix so he was able to perform. Allegedly.
ledbelly. Not lead belly
The best unplugged performance was Alice in Chains. This is a close second though.
