I consider this their biggest, most extravagant performance in an award show. other performances were really great as well but i find this particular performance their biggest! It was when they swept all the big awards! Super proud of them!!!

They represent the greek gods ^^ V is Apollo (god of the sun and beauty), Jin Athena (goddess of war and wisdom. Yes, it's the Trojan horse ^^), Jimin Artemis (goddess of the moon and hunt, twin sister of Apollo - V and Jimin wear the same earring), Suga Hephaestus (god of fire and metalworking), Jungkook Poseidon (god of the sea and earthquakes), J-Hope Zeus (god of thunder and justice) and RM Dionysus (god of wine and theater, one of his attribute is the thyrsus, the wand that RM grab before the song). Every time a member appears, you have a light that come down symbolising that every member is a star and all together we can see that they form the constellation named "Northern Crown". The story is that represent the crown given by Dionysus to the Cretan princess Ariadne when he married her and set by her in the heavens. Ariadne is the princess that help Theseus escape the maze of the Minotaur (Ariadne could be a representation of ARMY helping and guiding BTS).

a lot of people when they see namjoon performing before they watch any of their videos think that he looks scary 😭 he just has this gaze and this aura that just strikes confidence and he's known for that "look", the way stephanie described it was perfect lol

Jimin did contemporary dance at his art school before he was in BTS, so they incorporated that for his solo dance
Jimin also choreographed his solo 💜😍❤️
MMA gave them 40 mins timeslot to perform and they gave us this legendary performance.

I was laughing through out this whole reaction. Your commentaries were just hillarious but I also relate to yall so much. BTS are atm doing concerts in Korea which is being live streamed as well so yesterday before the concert I was just watching Run BTS and when they start performing I was just like "how are these the same people?" But they also goof around a lot in their concerts, just laugh and do improv so when they start doing that I was like "oh yeah, they are the same people"

Jimin studied contemporary dance at the Busan High School of Arts, and was a top student in the modern dance department actually!
Actually, he entered as the top student in the entire school due to his grades as well, not just the modern dance dept.
tbh even though armys are used to huge, entertaining shows at awards shows, our reactions when we saw this live was the same as yours!! this is BTS at a new-found height of their fame and the most extravagant show they've ever done. Keep in mind - this wasnt their concert, this was their performance at an AWARDS SHOW. Something like an MTV Awards Show. The Korean shows are a lot more theatrical than American shows, but even for them this is not the norm. No artist ever had a time slot this huge, and they closed the show out bc they were and are the most anticipated act at any show. In comparison, BTS really, REALLY toned down their performances for the american tastes - i doubt we'll ever see something like this from them on an american stage, probably bc they think people wouldnt like it 😞 which is absurd, because this is the biggest and best performance I've ever seen. The only person that is on their level is Beyoncé when she did her amazing Beychella shows!!!

It’s not that they think people won’t like it, I think it’s because American shows are still very hostile to them. They know armys like big shows, and they perform for us most of all, before anyone else. They make the most of what they’re allowed.

And it's because stages in America are quite small in scale compared to award shows in SK. Utilizing a large-scale performance like the ones performed by BTS is not something American award shows could prepare for. Even their own cameramen wouldn't be able to keep up, I bet.
Back in the day Michael Jackson had put on some spectacular shows as well.
Definitely over the top, even for them. Their concerts are high energy and include pyrotechnics, but not quite this much. Since the subject/song is about Dionysus the god of wine and celebration, the excess performance fits the theme perfectly. ☺️

There are I think 21 parts as of now, and it'll give you guys a good insight on BTS in a professional manner and on a more personal level and their rise to fame :)

To answer your question as to how they decide who sings what - they all have a go and whoever's voice suits it the best! And they themselves decide that :)

One of the reasons they are so successful. It seems like they do the same with dancing as well (regarding the order they are in)

> You guys got it right: because they're much more involved in the making of their music and videos and basically everything, they get to choose their parts and freely suggest to other members too as they make a song. Of course, their other producers also have a say but you will often hear BTS discussing their music making process and how they finalized a song more than other artists do.
> @Steph - Mikrokosmos is truly a beautiful song! I think you'll love the lyrics! BTS often sings it at the end of a concert 💜 The lights making the planet outline were drones, but parts of that performance were pre-recorded (as in, they recorded live vocals beforehand without the audience - to accommodate the special effects they wanted to do)

You guys took the unusual route of watching RUN BTS first before delving into their professional stuff, so this was an interesting video! I laughed so hard when Wes said that it feels like when your friends don't acknowledge you 🤣
The fact that this is not a bts concert ,makes it even more unbelievable ,the mma is a south korean awards ,where several kpop groups perform ,bts is the only group that can do a performance of more than 30 minutes ,because the organizers of the awards only give permission to them ,if you notice the majority of the audience are armys

Yes what you said is correct Jimin and V vocals are unusual in the kpop industry (for vocalists) a pure tenor and a baritone and on top of that they're so skilled. Most of the kpop singers are just tenors (not as pure as Jimin)

Well, when it goes to BTS you never know what to expect but an amazing performance. Idk how they do it but they always suprise everyone. Love your reaction 💜 this performance is one of their best ones. Please watch their other performances in MMAs and MAMAs.
(Interesting facts: if you watch the 2016 MAMAs please watch RM's speech when they received the "Artist of the Year" award. It was the first time they won such a big award and it was an emotional moment. And if you watch the MAMA 2018 please also watch their speech when they received the "Artist of the Year" award, it's important...)
hilarious seeing your expressions during dionysus. I think now is the time for you to react to them opening up a little more sincerely so I recomend Bts Festa series that they film for their anniversaries.

Haha this was such a delight to finally see you guys react to their professional performance side after only watching their goofy side😂 I love their personalities and how open they can be with their thoughts, that's what made me appreciate them so much but their music and performance is just the cherry on top. Yes this was an award show! Jimin's I need you solo performance is iconic ❤️ it is a mixture of contemporary and modern Korean dance. Jimin is such a skilled professional 😊 Dancers said it's super difficult to dance with cloth like him because you can easily slip even professional dancers don't use it as a prop but he did it perfectly
You made a 45 minute video truly feel like 10 minutes, this was so fun! 💜💜💜
No one, I repeat no one, can perform like bts. And this is an award show not their concert lol. Western shows don't come even close to Korean production lol. Btw the solo performances represent the Greek Gods

They really did this performance untill they faint end of their limit more, when i saw the behind the scene of this performances i cried seeing much how much exhausted they were and jimin ws abt to faint and all 7 members did to end of their energy limit for showcasing this performance not only this in on all other performances too they do perfectly and to the enjoyment for army, i'm literally i respect them a lot to their hardwork and talent

In solo performance it is said that V is Apolo, Jin is Ares, Jimin is Artemis, Suga is Hephaistos, Jhope is Zeus, Jungkook is Narcissus, and RM is Dionysus. They represent Greek gods in this performance.

It's actually common for stages/award shows like these and some performances in kpop to be pre-recorded. To add effects etc. (like in mikrokosmus) I think dionysus (last performance) was pre-recorded (shown on the big monitors) AND performed live (obviously there were no horses in the live performance). So don't be confused when you see groups or idols change their clothes in seconds at award shows lol it's common

BTS became as big as they are because of their performance. Even as rookies that's what they were known for. Every single one of them has more charisma than most other idols. A whole group of powerhouses. And just because you mentioned it, j-hope is so dynamic on stage. He's known to be the concert wrecker--like if you go to a BTS concert, you leave bias-wrecked by j-hope. He's widely recognized as the top performer in the industry. And part of it is because of what you saw--he doesn't just have one good face. He does smiley, he does intense, he does emotional---and it's all very sincere. You see Hobi behind the scenes. Today you met j-hope/Jung Hoseok/Jay. On stage and with his music, he is so cool and so sexy and so passionate. But still with that Sunshine edge we love so much.

Tae and Jungkook are my favorite vocalists , I love all of the members stage presence and solo songs and how different they're and how each member has his own colour and touch in the entire group's discography
So I read an article once that said that while most artists drop remixes that they will never perform, BTS performs remixes that they will never drop and the second half of this show is the perfect example of that. Most of what you heard in remixes (the dubstep for example). So if you visit every one of their shows, you’ll still hear and see something different.
Also…. It’s so interesting that you got to know them as people before seeing a live performance. That’s not the case most times. So it was a first for me. Loved the reaction!! Can’t wait to see more!

Jimin's solo dance on the MMA2019 stage... It's so beautiful. By combining Korean dance, made a performance that only Jimin could do. It is a stage that everyone praises as beautiful.

36:12 a few parts like the bit with the horses were pre-filmed as it wouldn’t be safe for the horses to be on stage during the performance especially in an environment as loud as that
This performance really shows why BTS are regarded as one of the best live performers. I've yet to see another kpop group match their level of artistry and talent.

the funniest part of this performance is that its an award show and not even their own concert lmaoo. I recommend MMA 2018 for another great performance, cause that one has a really special place in my heart.
this was (as a award show performance) over the top (in my opinion this is the best award show performance of theirs but every years mma performances are like this one and this good) and also their concerts are usually like this one too in the aspect of dancing performances. their overall shows are usually this good anyways IM SORRY my answer was too confusing but yes, this is usually what their performances look like :)

This performance is breathtaking and it's not even their concert, it's just an award show! BTS really delivers the best performances.Their professionalism is also admirable, there's a fancam where they caught seeing Jimin without a chair at the back of the table during Dionysus and still delivering a flawless performance...his chair was the last to be slid in by the crew so he was squatting while doing the choreo without missing a step. The symbolisms in Dionysus alone was also brilliant..They represented the 7 Greek gods performing in Mount Olympus with RM as Dionysus, Jin as Athena, Suga as Hephaestus, JHope as Zeus, V as Apollo, Jimin as Artemis and Jungkook as Poseidon.
10:34 when they work on songs (usually the rap line) they give a "rapper awkwardly sings" demo to jungkook who records a better demo with him singing all parts (that's one reason why he is the main vocalist) then they sit together and decide what part fits who's vocals best. the rappers always write their own parts the vocal line doesn't (with the exception of the English tracks, in those cases the rappers tried each part and then chose)
part distribution is ALWAYS done by BTS themselves and nobody else which is why these discussions about line distribution are so annoying in BTS case.
You guys are correct on the whole accent thing. I myself researched it 3 days ago. I am a big fan of Rose from Blackpink. She's born in New Zealand and moved to Australia. So she has an australian accent when speaking in english. But when she sings in english, it disappears. Apparently when singing, you lose your accent.
12:30 hahaha tae is a very versatile singer i swear his voice suits all genres!! he has the widest vocal range which is very impressive from a baritone! so he can sing very low notes to very very high notes! if you would like to see an example of this listen to his solo songs singularity and then stigma. everyone gets shook when they hear it lol

honestly I do it too where I don't watch bts perform for a while but I've kept up with the run eps/silly stuff and then you're suddenly reminded of ?? them being serious and doing their job and being?? literally incredible? like I forget how skilled and hard working and famous and hot they are lol and its like you blink twice and see them for the first time all over again
seeing your reactions to their professional side is so entertaining haha but it really is shocking how crazy their duality is between their personalities and their crazy talent and stage presence

They just finished the 2nd day of their concert in Seoul and almost half of the concert it was raining and stage is so wet but they still continued with the concert. This is just an award show not their own concert where they perform for 2-3 hours and just have 2-3 mins gap per set for costume change. You can watch their live medleys on their concert, they usually have 3-4 songs per set. They sound amazing live compared to recorded version and dancing with intense choreo at the same time.
the first song they performed was from one of their first albums back when their concept was heavy hip hop. That song came out in 2014. Crazy seeing how far they've come especially because even their early songs are a bop!!!

Sometimes, when I watch Run BTS.. I completely forget how bad ass they are on stage! They don't often wear that superstar performer persona and instead we see the crackhead personalities! This is what makes them so endearing! They act clumsy and foolish and we tend to forget how good they really are as performers!

I love how much people appreciate this performance without even being aware of their discography because once you are.... SO much work went into this. The second half of this performance is full of remixes of their title songs and it's actually quite a mind-blowing trip down memory lane. What's even better is that for so many of their earlier songs, they didn't get to perform them at award shows to these kind of audiences and I love how for the 2019 award show performances they kinda came in saying yeah, our work was always worthy of all this, in your face to all the haters and industry people who ignored them back then.
The all Dionysus (pronounced with two i sound, like magic) is about greek god and goddess. V is Apollo god of the sun, his little solo performance reflected this, very shinny and bright. Jin is Ares god of war, so he got an army and his horse is a reference to the myth of the Trojan Horse. Jimin is Artemis goddess of the moon, the sister of Apollo, they are actually twins and later Jimin and V shared a pair of earring, his solo shoot was more calm and dark. Suga is Hephaestus, god of fire and volcanos, dancing to the song fire make total sens. Next we got JK who is obviously Poseidon god of water. JHope is Zeus god of thunder. And finally RM is Dionysus god of wine but also of madness and excess witch is probably the reason they choose him as the title of their song, now that they got so far they're kinda drinking through the madness ans excess of fame and everything.
during their solo performances each member adde a light, it represents all seven of them and also a constellation. Also each song is a remixed version of their older songs.
For the group performance, we can still saw their characters, when they are dancing in the table by duos, JK and JHope dance together but they never were on the table at the same time, this represents the fight between Zeus and Poseidon of the Olympus. V and Jimin were dancing at the opposite side of the table, the moon and the sun cannot go together they're inevitably separate.
and there are probably more references that I didn't catch. But this was an incredible performance. BTS is known for crazy performances but even if all their performances are so good ARMY can agree that this is the best one.

That wasn't V's usual singing voice in boy in love performance , he was using a vocal technic called "growling/growls" the sounds that the rock starts use he's so good at doing it. He can pretty much do everything with his voice and wide range

The end of the Boy with Luv -- the camera operator messed up. He was supposed to focus on JK's hand because it turns into an I love you symbol in sign language.
The two songs they performed in suits, Boy IN Luv and Boy WITH Luv, are bookends. The first one was from their early days when the idea of hot-blooded young love and being tough was the concept. The second one is their matured outlook on what love actually looks like and wanting to know the other person in a loving way. Hence, changing the intense and fiery sort of love to something sweeter.
It wasn't really that the camera operator messed up it was because this was live broadcasted on tv and they aren't allowed to show the tattoos on Jungkook's hand.
this was so interesting to watch. usually people start with their music and perfomances and then get to know them more personally. it's interesting to see how it goes the other way.

So this was 2019 the launch of Map of the soul Persona, from where the two promotion singles were Persona-RM and Boys with love(Halsey collaboration) but Boys with love was like a 2nd part to Boys in love from 2014 so they performed that too, like they are the same Bts (2014-2019) they also had a quote something about the present is connected to the past, we are still us.. Then was Microcosmos, wich is about let us shine(like the words said before the song) how each one of us is a univers, we all have a microcosmos inside, we all shine in our own way...the concept we are a univers, and we can always discover something new inside us.. There for.. Who I was, who I am and who will I be...
Then before then Dyonisos spectacle, the individual performances each on one of their past songs that lead them to were they are now...each representing one of the Greek gods
