Sandra was a highland dancing champion.. lovely lady.. met her and William Stuart adamson at the Glasgow Apollo sound check 1983… while I was a part of the security staff.. a dream come true.. he did the actual crossing track at the sound check tremendous.. and then came to meet me in the middle stalls isle… had a chat with me with Sandra at his back she waving her hands behind him when I asked him what about the Glasgow rangers.. he said am a proddy but preface celtic.. of course I knew fine well he a dunfermile supporter.. should, not have asked him that.. but was a mad true blue then.. and then showed him my skids and big country tattoo.. he said it’s guys like you that made guys like me… what a genius of a boy and man resurrection of the guitar.. bill Nelson of be bop deluxe was a big influence on w.s.a.. met him twice after that he was a cut above the rest.. of that there is no doubt.. the song ships says it all about himself… he was one intelligent human being… to say the least a true visionary for the folk.. there better be an after life for I.ve got to meet him again and others who left too soon..
Amazing talent and band with beautiful songs yes Stuart was the main man with his amazing writing talents but they all played their parts Bruce tony and mark. Up the big country very very underrated.❤
Nicely done. I thought Balmule House was bigger, but the gate is still there. Thanks for the trip at Stuarts places!!! Kind Regards from the Netherlands.
The house you were looking for while in the town centre wasn't near the Andrew Carnegie statue. It was opposite the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum. Old Kirk House. He also lived in a flat at Colton Court for a while. I lived in an adjacent block of flats at the time and we used to wave to each other every morning and evening as we drove in/out the street.
Serious question being the edgeman how come you have never visited the the edge in manchester cheetham hill were all awaiting your presence (edgeman visits edge pub in manchester ???)
Really enjoyed it. Stuarts house next to the Glen was near Carnegie's birthplace not his statue. You were close to it when you went past the abbey ruins playing angle park.
Theres a story. Not sure how true it is. When deciding on a name for the pub, the story goes that Stuart wanted to call it "Sandra's Legs", so that when they cut the ribbon to open it Stuart could say "I now declare Sandra's Legs are open!" 😆
Well done enjoyed that 👌

@gsw007 Didn't know about that Wish I did. Would have gone
If you’d gone round the corner from Tappies to the library then you’d have seen Stuarts guitar on display.
I wished I had known that then....
Did Stuart and his family lived upstairs of the pub? I heard it caught on fire and they were able to get out before the fumes overcame them.
I remember Stuart serving in Tappies. Total gent

I can't imagine him being so disrespectful. That wasn't him.
