The house you were looking for while in the town centre wasn't near the Andrew Carnegie statue. It was opposite the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum. Old Kirk House. He also lived in a flat at Colton Court for a while. I lived in an adjacent block of flats at the time and we used to wave to each other every morning and evening as we drove in/out the street.

ve been to some countries in Europe but no way id ever get into a Taxi as they all are rip off merchants towards tourists they know your a strange foreign person ---> And on your own , and when on your own your an easy target for any baddies But you should have asked in the very first place regards the price it would be from where you were going and where you were wanting to go ..then he should give u a rough idea of the price and if not then do not enter into the taxi and just walk away and find out via asking elsewhere . Do your homework as we all get ripped off big time in taxis why i never do them abroad Taxi drivers many them are rip off merchants , and so many taxi drivers rip off foreign tourists . As for Inspector on the train he also seemed dodgy , and you never had a seat , always do your homework before heading to any country . And ask prices first before buying anything regards drinks / food and public transport .
