How wonderful to see this. I was happy to see the outside when I went. I never thought I’d see inside.

Considering the mixed and smaller size of the stones used to make up the original bottom level, I amazed that the weight of the later upper floors added did not bring the whole thing down not long after they were built. Still, it is too bad it was not maintained over time. I wonder if there are any paintings or tapestries from the earlier times that might show what some of the rooms looked like then.

The stones are small, but the walls are usually very thick. It's the mortar that brings it all together and gives it it's strength. You can see a detail of how they did those wall on the channel that is rebuilding a Chateau. Escape from Rural France is doing it himself so you get to see how it was actually built so long ago.

I thought it was the rock it was built on.

You are correct. Lallybroch is a fake name and bears no relationship to the place. An academic paper has been written on why fictional place-names never sound right. Why was Springfield chosen for 'The Simpsons'? I believe it is the most common place-name in USA.

I say.. restoration is manageble, duabel and affortabe. If outlander fans collectively purchase the estate, that would be great.

This castle must be a prime property for restoration being water tight. What a waste , Duntarvie Castle at Winchburgh has been under the resyoration process for serveral yearsnow however Midhope the work is all internal. This property is I deal for a hotel or filming location etc.
