I have a yz450fx I bought it for a Timbersled up here in alaska. Thought I would ride it in summer. Way too much power for trail riding. I’m getting a 125. And my kids can use it when they are older
Yeah, just take it easy. When you first start, just practice slowly releasing the clutch while turning the throttle a very little bit. No big deal if it stalls out. Just restart and try again. Once you're rolling, pull the clutch back in, and roll to a stop. Then repeat this drill of slowing releasing clutch, start moving, then stop. The key is to develop some automaticity with this, so that if you make a mistake later on, your nature instinct is to pull the clutch and slow the bike rather than whisky throttle yourself into a tree.
Awesome! Was trying to find something like that to get the idea on 125x on trails in technical terrain. Meaning slow moving. Your video answered all my questions. Thank you
I’ve been riding 4 strokes for a long time I rode a 84 cr80 and was not ready for that fuel surge. Every time it would hit the front wheel would come 2 inches off the ground kind of unsettling at first but definitely turned me into a 2 stroke lover now I’m looking for a 125
Thanks for the breakdown! Just finding your channel and joining your community today. Always down to support 2 wheel video creators like us. Thanks for posting!
I learned on a YZ 250 2smoker, if youre responsible with the throttle, its a better bike to learn on cause it actually has low end torque for a 2 stroke
Thank you for the breakdown, my mistake was purchasing a too big of a bike, with some small problems. No fun and no learning pretty much. Hoping to sell it for a 125 to get into the sport better.
Thank you for this two part tutorial!! i just have one question I heard that the oil mixture depends on what type of riding you do, I'll just be doing casual riding so what's the ratio between the gas and oil? And same goes if I wanna ride hard.
Been on the fence about a 2-stroke 125 for myself. I'm late 30s, 6ft, and 225lbs. I've ridden 200, 250, and 650 dual sport bikes, but have limited experience off-road. Have been considering a 125 2-stroke as an intro to off-road riding, mostly open two-track dirt and some mixed packed/loose sand. Some people say I'm too big for a 125 and other says I'm not. I'm definitely at an age where I can't afford to get into something that's going to get me hurt easily.
You'll be shifting a lot with the 125 to keep it in the meat of the powerband. You might like a 250 4 stroke more. Or, if you MUST have a 2 stroke, consider one of the newer KTM 250 XCW with TPI. Kawasaki KLX 300 could be a good option too, but it's a heavy bike. The thing you have to figure out is if you are only going to be trail riding (zipping through trails, small jumps, hill climbs) or if you are going to be doing any motocross type obstacles (jumps that put you more than 3 feet in the air or whoops). If you dream of big air, you really need to get an mx bike with suspension that can handle such things. Mushy suspension is the problem with most trail bikes when it comes to jumping. The mushy suspension is great for making a long trail ride comfortable, but no good when you are bottoming out on small jumps.
Is a yz 125 good if I’ve been riding a cr 85 at 14 for about 5 months. But I’m out growing it but a little nervous to go to 125. Is a yz 125 the right bike to get for track riding after an 85?
I reckon yes I’m a little older than u but I’m on a rm85 big wheel and now moving to a yz 125 it won’t take u long to get use to it as you’ve ridden an 85 it’s just bigger
I've only ride a ttr125l cuz thats what I got and I've never been interested in 2 strokes but theirs a cheap one for sale near me and I don't know if I can handle a yz125
hey! silly question bu can u kick 2 stroke after you looped it? considering 2 stroke as a trail bike , but I'm gonna fall down a lot I guess and yz has no e start so is it a big problem to start it up kicking after it flips?
No more difficult than a 4 stroke. Some 4 strokes (maybe some 2 strokes too) will have a vehicle down sensor and this might prevent you from starting the bike for about 30 seconds after it's been tipped over.
I’m 5’8, 125 pound, 14 years old girl and I never had dirt bike do you think yz 125 is good for me? Because today I went to see one bike it was yamaha yz 125cc and it looked really big I almost touched the ground so do you think is better for me 85cc big wheel or just go and buy 125cc? Does 85cc and 125cc have much difference?
as long as you keep your right hand in check, 250F is ok bike to start with. i've learned to ride on 50cc 2 stroke moped and ended on CR500.now in my low 40's i've switched back to 250F for enduro rides, 125 for hooligan stuff and still keep my RM85 when buddies with pitbikes comes along ;)
If you're 5'8", you can ride this bike, but it might be a little uncomfortable if you have zero riding experience. The problem is that something like the KX100 or KX112 might be more comfortable right now, but you'll outgrow it soon.
Hi, I am a brand new rider and I have a deposit on a 2022 yz125 it will be here in June. Do you think that I will be ok riding that bike with some experience? I will also be riding it at the Holly Offroad park!!!
It's a big jump, but if you're mature, careful and cautious, it should be fine. Was the TTR a 5 speed or the auto version? I don't know if you would want a YZ as the bike you learn to shift on.
No way. It will be waaay too big. You want a KX85 or YZ85. Check out the following video. There is a kid about your size and a KX85. ruclips.net/video/okZPMi_ETmg/видео.html
The 125's are just the best of both worlds. a beginner can learn on one, and a vet can shred on it with a smile from ear to ear.

was planing on getting a yz125 for my first bike and i am for sure now. just will have to take some time to get fully comfertable

@@gohobby9934 awesome, thanks
Yamaha dt175 is also a good bike

I think it’s a good big bike starter. Ride something smaller before to learn clutch and techniques and you’ll have to adjust to power.

I bought a 22 model gas gas mc125 & it’s brand new still, just 5 mins ride time, it’s got a nice frame & engine
Very nice!
Great video, clearly explained everything and just high-quality
Glad you liked it!
Great video, you did a really good job explaining things.
Great tips fantastic video, thanks for the info….
Thank you for the clear guide!

I just always use 32:1 as the owners manual states. It seems to be fine at that.
Track riding 30:1 trail riding 40:1 and 32:1 for hard but not super hard riding
No matter what brand you choose a 125 is definitely a great beginners bike!
My cousin started on a rm125 and a couple months later he went to a crf450r
I wanted this as a 14 yr old first bike SOOO BAD. I’d have a broken colllar bone by now if it where my first bc I’m overconfident

@@elijahjackson2068 ok thanks I was thinking of a bw kit but it was still to small for me
Yeah, I think it would be the next logical step up. Go for it!
@Sir. yeah I’m on a 250 now
I tried a 125 2 stroke and an 85 for the first time a couple days ago and even though i had never rode them before i felt more comfortable on the 125
Good video very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video! What helmet were you wearing? That thing is sick!
It's a Vega MCX. It's very comfortable, and costs around $100. Quality is comparable to most $120-180 helmets.
Just bought one today😄
2 strokes dirt bikes are very similar to driving a turbo charged car.
Trust me a powerband hit from a 2-stroke can rip ur arm out of its socket IF your not expecting it to
I've only ride a ttr125l cuz thats what I got and I've never been interested in 2 strokes but theirs a cheap one for sale near me and I don't know if I can handle a yz125
I’m 15 5’10 I’ve had a 110 but do you think I’ll be ok on a 2021 Yz 125 I’ve never ridden a 2 stroke before
What would you recommend for me a 5’6 140lbs girl , I have light experience in Riding a dirt bike.
i’m 5’10 160 pounds and ab to get a bike to learn and ride around the woods and trails would this be a good starter bike?
From personal experience an 85 is much better as learning a cluch as a beginner and 2 stork power band
Quality first bike
RPM= revolutions per minute........
Hey big dawg 125 or 125x?

How would I be learning on a yz250 2 stroke because I want to learn on a bigger bike
We’ve come out here with my Suzuki RMX250 and a TTR - 125 , needless to say, I was towed out by the TTR 🤣🤣
I’m 5”8, 12 years old, still growing, would I still be too small in like a few months

It really depends on how big you are, but assuming you can reach the ground, just take it slow at first. Come say hi when you see me at Holly Oaks!
@@gohobby9934 for sure I will!!! I am 13 5’11 and 185 pounds so I can reach the ground pretty well

Remember the MX100

i am 13 and 5,10 but i have never ridden a full size bike. would this bike be comfortable for me?
At 5'10", you should be able to reach the ground. It's a fast bike though, so some experience is recommended.
I’m 5.5 14 yo and I had some experience on dirt bikes is yz125 good for me ?
Yes sir
Klx 140’just fine for me for safety lol
The yz 125 is the perfect beginner bike
And revolutions per minute
hey, how tall are you please?
I'm 5'11".
This was hard to watch… still 3 minutes in and never was on the pipe lol
what do you think cr125 or yz125?
Yz125
YZ seems to be the better choice in almost every way.
as long as you respect the throttle and arent a complete idiot you can learn on any bike I learned on a 450 its just about respecting the bike
I’m coming off a 110 I’m 15 5’10 I wanna get a 2020-2021 Yz 125 but I’ve never ridden a 2 stroke and a little scared about it
Or a decent Yamaha dt175
Oh, that's old school!
