Zach, great video! I've watched you "grow up" on MX bikes on RUclips over the last couple of years. I always enjoy your videos and commentaries. You are a promising young man; keep up the good work! (Sorry about the previous 'blank' comment... it posted before I typed my comment.)
Yea zach, im with you on these 125's they're the only classic carbureted 2 strokes that you can still buy new, plus they have the highest specific output(husqvarna FC125 makes .33 hp PER CC), they're the highest strung of all mx bike classes usually.
I have a 05 yz125 and i couldn't bring myself to sell it.I put updated plastics on it and plan on getting 06 or up forks which will make it almost identical to the newest model.
Enjoyed the review. "Riding like a 4t", I was just thinking the same thing. 2t is "point and shoot", getting your aim right is the skill of riding them. And the guy who wanted a 4t is probably better off on one. If people ride a 2t like a 4t, they may as well own a 4t.
Its that too, but the art is predicting the power band. Otherwise known as the "point and shoot" method, you are aiming to shoot the bike through an arc on the exit like a missile trajectory. If you overshoot you leave the track, you under shoot it bogs down. If you come out of the corner so fast you almost leave the track you know you got it right. Dirt and road racing the basics are the same, I rode dirt 2t not racing and road raced 2t twins many years ago. The 2t needs to ride out of the turn in a trajectory. 4t can get out with torque but a 2t can exploit that. A light 2t can go under a 4t in to a corner without too much trouble and ride a the arc across the front of a 4t and the 4t looses its edge out of the turn. Once you learn to aim and shoot the 2t the fun starts. Put it this way, using a firearm wouldn't much fun if you couldn't hit the side of a barn with one. Likewise if you cant aim a 2t they are not as much fun to ride.
4T are for the lazy-minded!..2T you are so mixh more..'connected'...drove a 4T for like 30secs before..never ridden another ever again,i was depressed after you pass the inital low end torque
Random question why do you all are calling 2 and 4 strokes by 2t and 4t? Genuinely interested bc in Spanish we say it that way bc it's 2 tiempos and 4 tiempos
Can't help but have fun on a yz 125. Miss my 2007 for rides or races up to 2hrs long. Worked darn well off road too on the stk set up. 6hr plus days though, it got old keeping it singing all the time.
Man I remember when would go camping and smell the morning breeze, here the faint roars of dirtbikes and fourwheelers on the trails and ride my little tiny 75. I would always think it was cool how I was followed by the dust. But we sold that bike, and I have yet to get one yet. And VA has no good trails

I am 15, 6'0 and 150. Do you think the yz125 is a good first bike? If so, I'm buying it this summer. I have about 3 hours seat time on dirtbikes total, and never on a bike that big.
I got to test some yamaha's back in 2014. Ended up buying a brand new yz250f that year lol but they didn't make us sign anything saying we'd pay for it if we broke it so I just went all out on their 450 and 250 2-stroke.

Hey Zach I got a question for ya. I just bought my son a 2018 YZ125 a couple weeks ago and I was wondering how to adjust the clutch on it. Do you know? What it is...say when you crank it in neutral and you put it in first it makes a clucking noise and sometimes dies like the clutch isn’t engaging all the way. To me it sounds like the clutch isn’t going far enough. I didn’t know if there was something I could adjust or should I take it back to the Yamaha shop. Thanks bud!
my 07' yz125 isnt much different to this one, i find that the older ones still have as much power and torque as the new ones just not as reliable or light.
Fortnite Hackgod did you get it is it good? A little late but the issue with two strokes is the gas they won’t the oil mix and read that over time the engine in it gets worn down
My favorite bike but I can't stand how they went up on the price so much when I was a teenager a YZ80 was $600 in the 80s brand new they didn't have mono shocks back then but still what a price I say it's a waste of money nowadays I'd rather get a pit bike I'd rather ride a YZ but way too much money
Ya they made a kx100 which is bascially an 85 with a little more power.I owned one and it was a great bike.I believe that they also made a rm100 which is exactly the same,it was when suzuki and kawi where trading designs.

that table top is bigger than 70 feet BTW, also I hit an 85 foot jump on my 85cc in third gear pinned
Same as all the yz125s from 06 on, but nevertheless, still an awesome bike!
Lol yea
Is the 04 yz125 any good as I'm looking to get 1??
An 04 should still be good, just has a steel frame instead of aluminum and different suspension.
Johnny Applepie whats the difference with the 05 then?
the only thing that was changed was the suspension. But I have an 05 and parts are interchangeable and I love my yz 125!

Chad Cole have the yamaha shop adjust it
Chad Cole you shouldn't be buying brand new bikes if you don't even know how to adjust a clutch
Usually it can just be adjusted at the clutch perch, via knurly knob.
