I think your idea of the song is dead on. A lot of this sounds too much like things they would have done. It doesn't make sense to me that Paul McCartney and his wife would go around burning matches and lifting latches. LOL sounds more like Schoolboy Antics to me. I'm sure he dedicated it to his wife but it's a story of two young men and their Adventures growing up.
My favourite Beatles' album is 'Please, Please Me', released 22 March, 1963. I think the song 'Do You Want To Know A Secret' from that album ( I imagine written mainly or entirely by John Lennon ) is as fine a pop song as has ever been written! I love The Beatles' version sung by George ( Harrison ). And the Billy J Kramer version which was the first version of the song I heard. Cheers - Mike.

A great band here in Liverpool who played with the Beatles in the early 60’s called Cy Tucker, he use to do a great version of Help and also Lady Soul.
