I liked the 2016 Suzuki 6hp I used to have, just couldn’t push it fast with 3 people on it. I did like the tank built into the motor. The 15 is definitely worth the upgrade
The shaft wasn’t the issue with the speed, the pitch of the propeller is what caused it. The motor was on a bigger boat before mine and I haven’t switched pitch sizes yet
Turned out the pitch wasn’t the best option for the size of the boat. The previous owner had it on a 14ft double wide jon so I had to get a better pitched prop to fix the issue
No issues so far, I used it for about 15 hours in 2021. I will say that compared to my previous 3 outboards, the pull cord slips out of my hand a lot easier. Either the grips not the best or my hand grip is getting weaker.
I bet you’re hitting the rev limiter, not the shaft is too short. I bought a new 1 last year & that’s what was happening to me. It came with a 10 pitch prop, I bought an 11 off Amazon & now it doesn’t hit the limiter. I get @ 22 mph on a 16 foot Crestliner with just myself in the boat.

FYI your hitting the rpm limiter. So what was the pitch of the propeller in the video and what was the pitch that you put on to fix the over rpm
That transom is 15 inches a short shaft is what should be on that boat so if it starts cavatating it’s bc it isn’t trimmed out right.

Your tork is probably a little better with a larger prop?
You’re right. The prop was pitched for a 14ft double wide jon so I got another one that’s a better fit for the 12ft and it works a lot better
How much was it
I paid $2,500 for it in the summer of 2021. It came with a 14ft jon, but I sold the jon
What happened the 8 HP Merc?
I sold it with that Jon that had the 6hp Suzuki. I replaced it with that Yamaha. It was still running pretty good when I sold it
