Jorn, God of Winter is a new Sultai, Snow Commander, joining the Magic: the Gathering multiverse, from MTG's newest set, Kaldheim. In this video of Jake and Joel are Magic, Joel offers 3 different strategies (for every player) for building Jorn, each doing its best to utilize this new Snow Commander to the best of its abilities! Jorn offers a unique ability that allows you to get a ton of value out of snow permanents. And Jorn is a MDFC (Modal Dual-Faced Card) Commander, which means you can play the flip side of Jorn, which is Kaldring, the Rimestaff, which is a Blue Black artifact that allws you to play target snow permanents cards from your graveyard, all for a simple tap ability. It seems very narrow, as it is only good with snow, but there is a lot of fun stuff you can do. In the strong category, we start things off with big mana, since Jorn attacking will allow each snow permanent to untap, followed by fun: self-mill zombies, and finally, the mean way will focus on Winter's Chill, prepare to be tapped down as we wreck tempo for our opponents! What are the best ways to build Jorn and get the most out of this new Sultai, Snow Commander? Is Jorn worth building in EDH and what is the best Jorn deck? There is a lot to go over! About the Three-Ways Series:
Some people like their chicken wings sweet while others prefer them scorching hot; either way, you are eating chicken. Magic the Gathering is a game with many different rules and building a Commander deck that works takes some time and strategy. Understanding the commander of your deck will help inform a deck-building plan that works for you. In this series, Joel discusses commander strategies for every player. This broad-strokes approach will give you a basic breakdown of the commander and three different ways you can build your deck to work with its abilities, without providing a full deck-tech.
What is Commander:
Commander, officially recognized on June 17, 2011, originated from a format called EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander-- there can only be one). The first time we played EDH was around 2009. It is easily the best way to play Magic: The Gathering. The idea was to have a casual format with 100 cards and only a single copy of any one card, with a General: a singular Legendary Creature card in its own zone that can be cast any time, once you have the mana for it. If your general is removed, it goes up by a casting cost of 2 for each time it is removed. Once WOTC officially recognized the format and printed the first Commander product, your General was instead called your Commander and instead of the format being called EDH, it instead became recognized as Commander. If you ever hear anyone say EDH, they are talking about Commander. Make sure to know the cards that are banned in the format before building your deck (listed below).

Cards like Kiora's Follower are good if you lean into the staff since it lets you tap it multiple times per turn and ramp if you need to.

I’m building a jorn deck and placing moriette in it to get double commander xD play artifact version. Cast moritte copy artifact. Put jorn back in hand. Cast again and have staff and jorn on field.
Make it a self mill deck and bam doot to go. Also make sure kozilek is in there to toss ur graveyard back into ur library so you won’t self mill out.
I put my jorn in my esika deck(under construction) it has a snow manabase, although ive seen jorn as lead for the elf precon and he has alot of synergy with a snow manabase there too. This is one of the better commanders from the kaldheim set in my opinion and i hadnt thought of narfi as part of a strategy for jorn but i am now😁 great vid and im curious how you would strong, fun and mean maja!

Im kinda iffy of adding upwelling. Would you rather play it if you can win the game or would you just cast it just cause?

What tips would you have if one wanted to dip into the snow theme?
Make sure you have all basic snow lands and you've used the relevant snow duals from Kaldheim. Plus any other snow lands that exist.
After that, search on scryfall for "commander:ugb t:snow" (just type that into the search box on scryfall) and start brewing!!
