I like how none of them said your shield can be broken
They wanted to keep things down to the basics.
You can't throw too much on the player at once, they'll get confused.
Some things are better to learn as you go.
I like how in melee they didn’t say you could wave dashing even though wave dashing wasn’t a glitch and was meant to be in the game
@@koseki_stuff If I had a nickel
@@koseki_stuff I’m pretty sure the devs of melee didn’t intend for wavedashing to be a thing since smash was intended to be a party game for friends and family to play for fun. Directional air dodging was just introduced in melee and competitive players saw the potential in it. It’s more of a game engine exploit imo.
@@bup6377 The developers knew you vould wavedash. They just didn't care about it, so they kept it.
I remember watching the 64 Tutorial and thinking "Ha, Mario and Luigi are fighting, but what do the Buttons Mean??"

Mario grabbed Bowser by the nose in the last one.

I guess Bowser got tired of Mario's crap
He most likely did LOL
He must have big time.
2:10 that’s a nice spike
Meteor*, the spikes cannot be canceled
Oh I know it’s also called meteor smash but thanks bro
F O R W A R D A E R I E L
Zam bo nah he’s referring that in melee and only in melee, there’s a difference between “spikes” and “meteors”
Spikes, are attacks that send you down and slightly to the side (marth dair, falco dair) and the knockback cannot be canceled
Meteors are attacks that send you straight down (like Mario’s fair in that part of the video) and knockback CAN be canceled with either jump or up b
MarranoDios oh that makes more sense thanks!
I really enjoyed how casual and laid-back the original HTP is.
I like how it slowly builds up the utility of all the options you're given in one smooth semi-fight sequence between Mario and Luigi.
Not to mention it has its own theme music.
Agreed.

I know this is a tutorial, but Bowser's playing like trash, Bowser, you need to get more aggressive.
Guess Bowser isn't making it to Elite Smash anytime soon. ;)
@@ADAPTChance nope, Bowser will keep getting killed by Smash Attacks, because of how slow and predictable he is.
@@charliep7112 lmao U clearly never face a good bowser, his side smash have super amor 😂
@@tiqosc1809 how do you know I've never faced a good Bowser? From what I see, Bowser in this guide is playing like trash.

How to play melee:
Break your control
Bowser and Luigi were indeed harmed during the making of these films. Mostly Bowser.
Props to _Smash 64_ for having its unique how to play music over the later games, which just reuse _Melee's._
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Technically Brawl also had original How To Play music.
Meele's is better tho. If the melee one would have been made before 64, they probably would have used it.
brawl uses a remix of melee's
@@rotundmonibuv5103 true, but they just rearranged the music from Melee and from what I think due to more darkness game and have Subspace Emissary with story. It like playing sequel of Melee. And I just love Smash 64, Melee and Brawl
19 years of telling people how to play, yet people still go online and spam projectiles as Link
*ness
*Literally any character with at least 2 projectiles
That's how you play those characters
I bet you're a pikachu main, also just learn the matchup
Why is the first one way more better?
Oh yea cuz they actually show what buttons you have to press
Since Brawl theres like a million of ways to play smash, you cant predicte what controller are they gonna use
It's too fast for me.
@@BunnyOnASnuman so all they have to do is edit it to who ever p1 they show that controllers buttons duh :l
I like melee better because it's just like 64 but it freezes allowing you to read the words
@@bombyman84 yeah you've said that in previous comment
For the original Smash Bros. How To Play tutorial screen, Luigi is shown attacking more frequently in the Japanese version.
The 64 music is just so catchy it’s damn good. They should’ve remixed 64 how to play music add it to ultimate.
6:50 finally bowser gets his sweet revenge
"It's not the end of the world if you get launched, so don't give up!"
(Little Mac crying in the corner).
Wish they brought back 64’s how to play theme. It went unseen for the rest of the series.
You have to appreciate how sometime between Melee and Brawl they realized nobody gave a shit about tap jump.
It's too bad Brawl's rendition of the theme can't be found anywhere..
Not even Brawl itself
So they replaced Luigi with Bowser.
I mean it makes more sense, why would mario fight his own brother
@@nicholascubides2035 Because Luigi was a secret/locked character back then until Smash 4, then he came back to be locked in Ultimate
Plot twist, Luigi is Bowser in a costume.
@@jayfarias8440
Double plot twist: Bowser is Luigi in a costume.
@@nicholascubides2035 Because brothers fight all the time irl, but yeah bowser makes more sense.
N 64 does a better job at explaining
In my opinion it does worse. It's too fast for me.
Romantastic how?!?!?!?!?!?
@@bombyman84 uhh how
@@deezburr and @Jottrato Idk... maybe because of... Speed? I mean, what else could make things too fast for people?
@@bombyman84 man you must be slow at reading
I like that in the first game that after showing a silhouette of who the four characters are at the end of the intro, they just completely spoiled that the fact Luigi will be one of the unlockable characters. That of course if you leave it on the title screen long enough
Why do they only show meteor smashes in melee and not the other games
Ne Ss because they used Mario’s fair but almost all the other characters use dair to do a meteor smash
OhOhOh *those crispy N64 sounds*
I love how the hits (punches, kicks, etc) in Ultimate sound like a mix of Melee and 3DS/Wii U.
Gotta love how RUclips is being so generous by recommending me these interesting Smash videos. 👌
Nintendo: Creates a new remix of the Melee How To Play
Also Nintendo: Don't use that remix for Ultimate's How To Play video
Or Smash 4
6:49 Mario you did a big opposie
I like how it shows generic Circles with the words Jump, Attack, Special and Shield instead of showing the buttons needed starting with Brawl
Quite obvious, but It's because Brawl was the first one with multiple control options, it would have been a mess if they showed all the specific buttons for every single controller.
Increíble video!!
Glad you liked it. :)
I like how nobody even ripped a clean copy of the brawl remix
Gotta love how brawl calls mario down b an attack
N64 is understandable
Melee is understandable
Brawl is little understandable
3Ds is almost understandable
Wii U the same as 3Ds
ULTIMATE is Outstanding
Not just because it’s new
Because the shapes of the buttons are gonna make the player understand what is the control buttons
2:39 is the smash i have
You forgot to mention that the "How to play" video on Melee only appears in the PAL version of the game.
And i'm glad that 4/Ultimate uses the Melee version of the music, the one from Brawl is not as good as the original (although Ultimate also has a remixed version done by Matoi Sakuraba).
EDIT: Never mind, the "How to Play" video appears on _all_ versions.
Thanks for the information I actually wasn't aware of that difference with the Melee version.
The NTSC version of Melee also has the How to Play video. It's only that it doesn't show up right after the intro sequence, but rather after looping the intro again and showing a couple more of gameplay demos. It can also be found on a certain section of the menu (can't remember where exactly) along with the special video.
@Green Masskass I am guessing the PAL version fixed this and shows the How to Play video right after the intro. Is that correct?
Um, no? Its on the NTSC version 100%, I own the game.
@@st.6413 Looks like I was completely wrong, I'll modify my comment right away.
@@ADAPTChance This is wrong, it does play on ntsc
The tutorial theme is amazing
STOP THE ABUSE TO BOWSER!!
I like Melee's the best because it tells the player that they shouldn't just let the opponent get back on stage for free, and instead introduces them to edgeguarding.
I like Brawl's theme the best.
I kinda wish that every smash game had different how to play music
For y’all non-players who only use one B Move, there’s more than one move.
i just now noticed. that in super smash bros 64 that tilt attacks are called power attacks. kinda weird, wonder where tilts comes from. is it cuz you have to tilt the control stick to make it attack like it?
I never knew what that noise is that bowser makes 2:27
Omg to do a tilt or a smash is so similar.
2:00
Rare footage of successful recovery in Melee
And then there's 2:09 lol. Also recovery is even harder in 64
It’s funny how Smash 64, Brawl, Smash 4 and Ultimate all boil down the tutorial to “This is how you attack and defend yourself in this strange battleground, up to 4 players can take the stage!”.
Meanwhile Melee’s tutorial is like “Yeah here’s how to fight in this world and your opponent can do so as well….. *BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN TO SHOW THEM MERCY BY LETTING THEM LIVE, LET ‘EM HAVE IT!*
Now the question is where is the full How To Play video from ultimate complete with voice acting? (It was in a playable demo as far as I'm concerned)
Melee is the only one that shows spiking in the tutorial? Hm, combine that with the faster and heavier physics than in Smash 64, and no wonder it became such a popular game with the competitive crowd.

The music hasn't been changed since Melee. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Bowser could use a hug
👍👍👍👍I like this vid
I like the melee how to play
I miss how Smash 64 had those sound effects when you hit the enemy because these days it's all generic with smoke effects that complicate the screen
Love me 64's theme but Melee's is so legendary they used it for every game after it.
This is how to play in Super Smash Bros. Series.
Yesss Daisy is shown in Ultimate's instead of Peach lol!
They tell you that you get a FS from a smash ball but they never tell you about the aerials to break it
0:51 Toad: Peach..He finally did It, didn't him?
Peach: yes...
Toad: behold..the ultra instinct!!
Funny how smash 64 was morr detailed and comprehensive than the others.
64 how to play is basically Calculus
64: *Master your techniques and start fighting! Up to 4 people can play!*
Melee: *Hurl an enemy!* (aka nothing)
Brawl: *OVERWHELMING!*
3DS/Wii U/Ultimate: *Show 'em who's boss!*
What if your a complete noob and your confused of "attack" instead of the a button?

The only good thing of Smash 64 is the fact it was the first Super Smash.
@@jrivas8112 Opinions. Different people have different opinions. I like Brawl for many reasons other than nostalgia and the fact that it was the first Super Smash Bros. game I owned. But I think we can all agree that random tripping is not the greatest thing to come out of that game, in fact it is the worst issue I have with it.
I love Smash 64, Melee and Brawl due to being my favorite Super Smash Bros Trilogy

If we ever get a new smash after ultimate, they should add a tutorial course/map rather than a short video tutorial because now we have many ways to play smash and map the buttons for different things and for new players, it would be very confusing to know which button is the special button. A simple tutorial map where the players can just practice movement, test controllers and read the instructions of the tutorial would help many people to get in the game, whether they are new players or people who aren´t really into games but wanna have a good time playing with you (like your sister or brother)
I missed Mario’s Down B in Melee. Now we have the stupid FLUDD pack. It dosent even do damage, it just pushes opponents back. That’s Mario’s worst move in the game.
We still have dr.mario
It can be useful tho
I mean you can do that move if you on air in Brawl instead being on platform (don’t know about Smash 4 and Ultimate)while pressing ⬆️ + A.
