- Dr Rangan Chatterjee explains the very real effect chronic mental stress can have on our bodies. 80% of ailments he sees as a GP are due to our collective modern lifestyle - that’s not to shame anyone, it’s to help us understand the lifestyle changes we can all make to alleviate both mental and physical symptoms.
Do you think "being happy" makes us physically and mentally healthier?
In this chat, he and Fearne talk about why core happiness isn’t the billboard image of a smiling family on the beach, and why the truth often doesn’t matter when it comes to our happiness, it’s about the story we choose to tell ourselves...
Rangan’s book, ‘Happy Mind, Happy Life: 10 Simple Ways To Feel Great Every Day’ is out now.
Rangan Chatterjee is a British physician, author, television presenter and podcaster. He is best known for his TV show Doctor in the House and for being the resident doctor on BBC Breakfast and as a regular commentator on BBC Radio.

Brilliant interview. Thank you. So helpful. X
They are mutually supportive. The path to happiness has been mapped and charted countless times - and it’s always exactly the same - by a whole succession of great prophets. But the human race, en masse, ignores and even ridicules the timeless wisdom of metaphysics. This is because of its incurable addiction to the illusion of hope contained in the presentation to it of material values. From Abraham and Moses, the Buddha and Christ - all held in high esteem but completely ignored, as human beings frantically pursue their dreams knowing full well that even in the rare cases that these are realised, joy is only transitory and is quickly replaced by more and further yearnings. Mad.
I cant find you on audea - can you post audio versions of your videos there? would love to listen to them! thanks again for the great content.
