For those who where struggling to follow the recipe, just like me: Dried shallots 3tbsp, minced garlic 2bsp, brown sugar 2tbsp, white pepper 1tsp, salt 1tsp, rice wine 2tbsp, dark soy sauce 2tbsp, a half cup of light soy sauce (125ml) and 3 and 3/4 cups of water (or 4 cups for slow cooker)
First recipe we used our instant pot for! We halved the recipe for two. Tweaked the final product- added a few drops of fish sauce and some kecap manis for more sweetness. Added a whole serrano and chopped green onion at the end and served it with steamed bokchoy. Bf loves it. Thank you so much!
I made this for lunch today! Nice, easy, tasty recipe. She mentions 5 spice in the end - after doing research on other braised pork recipes, a good amount of five spice to use is 1/2 teaspoon, put in with all the other ingredients before pressure cooking. :) I also used a cornstarch slurry to thicken up the sauce in the end. Yummy recipe! Thanks for sharing.
Great recipe. Tip: sear the meat in batches so you really get it nice and fragrant. Putting all the meat in the pot at once creates a lot of steam and the meat "boils".
My absolute favorite pork belly recipe. I substitute coconut aminos for all soy sauce due to allergy, no one can tell the difference! The eggs make it AMAZING. Thank you!
More instant pot recipe please! I just made your grandma's Taiwanese braised beef shank. I used the meat stew function on the instant pot which cooked it for 30min with 10min pressure release. Came out so good.
I made this tonight for dinner. Oh my goodness this was amazing and everyone loved it. I served it over egg fried rice. So, so good. I’ve subbed and am looking through your videos for more deliciousness.
We had a family potluck yesterday and I would have used my usual go-to stovetop recipe for this but my in-laws were using my stove. So in a pinch, I went with your instant pot recipe instead. The result? It was a hit at the party and my Taiwanese aunt said it was better than hers!
I just tried this recipe tonight and it was soooo good! I didn't have deep fried shallots and I am guessing it would be even more delicious with that. Thank you!
Apart from appearing too watery this looks like a very useful recipe. I've made this dish with the Instant Pot before, but this seems a bit quicker to prepare.
Hey! I just made this last night. Came out tasty. Just a heads up, she does not add any five spice in the video but her recipe says 1 teaspoon on the website. Don't forget it!
Mmm...I like your braised pork belly!! Taste so delicious and yummy!!! Awesome recipe!! Yum!! Yum!! Great cooking and see u anytime!! Happy chinese new year!! 恭喜发财!!万事如意!!
I made this twice and it’s so yummy! Question: what can i do with the leftover sauce? It’s so yummy but don’t know what we can do with it and I feel like it’s a waste to pour it out.
Lovely recipe. I've made your instant pot version twice and it's come out beautifully both times. I do end up with a lot of leftover braising liquid, though and it seems like a waste to throw it away. Do you have any recommendations for ways to reuse the braising liquid?
I love my instapot but the saute isn't sufficient for browning. It boils or braises even if I let saute heat up for 10 minutes first. To get the flavor right I typically still do the browning on the stove top and I'll deglaze into the insta.
Should I blanch the pork first? I tried making the braised pork belly from your other video and it had a weird taste to it which I think blanching would remove. Also, how come no five spice was used for this recipe?
Hi - I'm not sure if blanching would help, but I don't think it would hurt to try. Also good call out on the Five Spice . . . in the video editing process, the Five Spice Powder never made it, but it's in this recipe. 1 tsp. of Five Spice Powder is used in the braising liquid. Follow the printable recipe link in the video description (if needed).
I am not a fan of pork belly can you make this with pork shank? Also, I just got back from Taipei and had shreaded bamboo root. Have you ever made this dish?
u know that korean chili paste? i throw that into mines and some cooking wine. garnish with chopped cilantro and spring onions. it take things to next level bro.
I probably could have braised more pork belly instead so I could have had more leftovers. You could try reducing the water, just be careful as it will get saltier.
Angel Wong's Kitchen YEAH LOL YUP THAT ME LOL KKKK that me 😂😂 I was so shy and shook couldn’t say much hopefully you will make a review on your Canada goose jacket lol I am wondering if it worth it heard it cheaper in Canada
Cornstarch slurry. A tablespoon of cornstarch and two tablespoons water. Mix well then dunk in. But first, skim the fat. Not sure why Wong doesn't tell you to skim fat first off (after the "pressure cook for thirty minutes" step)... But to each their own.
Hi Angel, need to consult you. I am cooking braised pork hocks and trotters using my Instant Pot. I usually used this pot for cooking congee and soup and it always show 30 mins. Tonight when I pushed the Meat Stew button, I was surprised to see only 20 mins. I thought it would show 30 mins. - 45 mins. Because cooking meat stew to my knowledge would take longer. Should I have used the Pressure Cook button instead like the way you did your pork belly? Please advise. Thank you.
I haven't tried putting the eggs in from the start. I was a bit worried that the pressure cooker mode on HIGH pressure would break/ damage the eggs. If you do try it, please share with us.
OMG ! Cooking like that where got aroma ? Must stir fry them well to golden and fries then add in the water. Try it and I am sure you will find the differences. Sorry to say like this as I never touch if Braised Pork cooked this way. All my sister in laws even my late father in law said my Breaised Pork Belly tasted so good and smelled so good .

Short video, to the point, clear instructions, and you gave measurements for all the ingredients. 👍👍
Ingredients:
• 2 lb. boneless pork belly
• 2 Tbsp. minced garlic
• 2 Tbsp. brown sugar (or rock sugar)
• 1/2 cup light soy sauce
• 2 Tbsp. rice wine
• 3 Tbsp. dried shallot
• 1 tsp. five spice powder

Just made this and it’s delicious !!!!! Melts in your mouth and so easy to make! Thank you!!
I’ve been making your stove top recipe with the instant pot but always end up with too much water! Thanks for this updated instant pot version 😘
@Ramon Mathew Liar! Stop spamming and uploading viruses
Looks very nice indeed. I'd love to try it. It would be very helpful if the recipe actually was on the recipe links, not just promised.
We had a family potluck yesterday and I would have used my usual go-to stovetop recipe for this but my in-laws were using my stove. So in a pinch, I went with your instant pot recipe instead. The result? It was a hit at the party and my Taiwanese aunt said it was better than hers!

Yummy & quick. No 1st boil for the pork belly needed ?
Looks delicious! Would love it if you make more instant pot recipes!
Could you do more recipes with instant pot? 🙏🏻🙆🏻♀️
More instant pot recipes pls:) love your videos!
Thanks Angel! I tried your recipe and it was delicious. Not as good as dad's cooking but great for me. Look forward to your next recipe.
Apart from appearing too watery this looks like a very useful recipe. I've made this dish with the Instant Pot before, but this seems a bit quicker to prepare.
Yummy .. Thanks .. 🙂👍🥂

Love your recipes and videos ! My hubby loves the dishes .
i made this a couple months ago (without the 5 spice tho) and it was soooo good. came back here to make this again XD
I did this recipe and it's amazingly tasty. Uncomplicated, just put everything in that's it...tqtq..
Yum! Taiwanese beef noodle soup or curry chicken in the instant pot next?
This is soooo amazing!
Thank you for your instruction! So Pretty!
I wonder you dont use five spice powder in this recipe or I missed that part some how
Mmm...I like your braised pork belly!!
I usually freeze the leftover sauce to use it again.
Wow!it looks so delicious!

Great idea, I feel like maybe too much liquid but we'll see! Wouldn't it be even better with some root veggies like carrots and potato?
How did yours turn out. I felt like too much liquid also. I was looking for a glazed result.
I'm looking forward to trying this one, thanks for sharing Angel!
Your kitchen looks so good! Is RUclips your fulltime job?
Here we go, Angel!! Love your recipes. Instant Pot - Wow.
Happy Lunar New Year!
Happy Lunar New Year to you too! 🎊🏮
Wow i want to try this recipe! Could it be made in a pressure ricecooker as well? I only have one of those...😕
Should I blanch the pork first? I tried making the braised pork belly from your other video and it had a weird taste to it which I think blanching would remove. Also, how come no five spice was used for this recipe?

You can try soaking the pork in cold water for hours before cooking, this helps remove unpleasant odor
I am not a fan of pork belly can you make this with pork shank? Also, I just got back from Taipei and had shreaded bamboo root. Have you ever made this dish?
Thank you and I will definitely try it.
I can't wait to try this!
happy lunar new year!
u know that korean chili paste? i throw that into mines and some cooking wine. garnish with chopped cilantro and spring onions. it take things to next level bro.
Try reducing to 1 cup of water for a thicker and less dilute sauce
Any tips on what to do with the leftover braising liquid? Seems like such a waste to toss it
I freeze mine for the next batch :)
I just stumbled upon this video because of my love for pork belly 🤤. How’s the baby? Please be safe and take care!
Would you reduce the water further? It looks like there is still quite a bit of broth.
I probably could have braised more pork belly instead so I could have had more leftovers. You could try reducing the water, just be careful as it will get saltier.
Sieve the mixture and catch all the liquid into sauce pan. Add a teaspoon of whisked flour and heat on high heat for about 5 mins.
Angel, would you film how to cook abalone?
Woah looks tasty!
I made this in my instant pot. Question, do you scrap away the fat on top after stored in fridge the left overs?
I try to skim most of the fat off, but I do leave a little bit because of the way it makes the braising sauce taste over white rice. 😬
Looks delicious
MISS YOU AND OMG I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU AT BELL SQUARE LOL to bad I was taking out the trash :)
Ah so you’re Christmas9lights! Thanks for saying hello 😃✌🏻
Angel Wong's Kitchen YEAH LOL YUP THAT ME LOL KKKK that me 😂😂 I was so shy and shook couldn’t say much hopefully you will make a review on your Canada goose jacket lol I am wondering if it worth it heard it cheaper in Canada
Hi how do I achieve more of a glazed sauce rather than a really soupy sauce? It’s just too watery for me.
Cornstarch slurry. A tablespoon of cornstarch and two tablespoons water. Mix well then dunk in. But first, skim the fat. Not sure why Wong doesn't tell you to skim fat first off (after the "pressure cook for thirty minutes" step)... But to each their own.
neil thecellist interesting! Thank you for the reply lol.
Great recipes from you lovelovelove
It won’t brown if you crowd the pot

fantastic!
You mention 5 spice in your comments when you taste the dish, but do not list 5-spice powder in the ingredients. Do you add 5-spice and how much?
Just tried this and its delicious!
Couldn't you just use a regular pressure cooker?
Can I put the eggs in from the start and hard-boiled them with all the other ingredients?
I haven't tried putting the eggs in from the start. I was a bit worried that the pressure cooker mode on HIGH pressure would break/ damage the eggs. If you do try it, please share with us.
Browning the pork??? Hi don’t see any browning
good recipe now i got to go buy the instant pot i looked at it last time i was shopping but i didnt get the regert is real
You used 5 spice not in the recipe you showed
A little less water would have made it perfect
My pork belly isn't as dark or as red as yours. I used the same ingredients and process. :-/
Yes, Pearl River.
That's Classic Her same , I guess I need add more u know some cookers don’t do exact amount she had to use more
OMG ! Cooking like that where got aroma ? Must stir fry them well to golden and fries then add in the water. Try it and I am sure you will find the differences. I love how this comment is putting the video on blast but that gets lost in translation
