The original title was levitown but then he realised nothing happened there so it wasn't finished and then one day he did a show in Allentown and an encounter with a member of the audience who said to him "you'll never come back here" inspired him to write a song about Allentown and he used what he had with the levitown song to create the song Allentown.
I love that the music industry used to be...."it's been 2 1/2 years since your last album....that's a long time". I wish it was still that way.
I just love to listen to him . I find even when he talks there’s something melodic in his voice. Love Billy Joel, such a great and complete artist.
Yes he has a good talking voice as well.
I remember this recording. Dear old Roger Scott(interviewer). One of the best radio DJs the UK ever had. I miss him. RIP.
VERY interesting... This is the album that reminded pop culture the relevance of the 1960s... for all time. Every note is an adventure. Awesome album.
Excellent interview, wish more interviews were done this well.
DUDE CHILL OUT, HASN'T BEEN THAT LONG SINCE LAST LP!!!
Great interview … on Billy’s part, especially.
He had the melody of Allentown since '74(ish), that's interesting. That'd be interesting to hear on Streetlife lol

Billy Joel back in 1982.
11:30 which synthesizers! Juno? Jupiter?
Ya
Scandinavian Skies - 19:15
The interviewer acts like he doesn't understand a lot, which actually makes him him look like an idiot more than it is an indictment on the music.
This interviewer is weak. Billy Joel did great however.
I thought he was great . Are you a radio announcer?
