Classic Jeep Engine Rebuild Part 1: Engine Teardown

  • In this video I start the rebuild process on the 4-134 inline 4 cylinder "Hurricane" engine out of the 1952 Jeep restoration project. Everything comes apart successfully except for some issues with the cam at the end.
    Before the next video I'll work out some kinks and everything will be cleaned up. I have a comprehensive rebuild kit of parts to go on then as the whole thing is reassembled. There are some other overall issues I'll update you on later. Turns out a few bits of this engine are a little more difficult to deal with than I thought.

    Just saw this video. I rebuilt mine. Had trouble on the composite gear also. I chipped a tooth but it still runs good to this day

    1952 first year for the F Head, thin spot-on head was always a problem copper casket was the best fix also chrome rings, the L Head was the best out of the 2

    I just remove today my m38a1 engine from my willys 41, and put it on tbe same harbor freight stand 😉👌🏽. I know is not the original engine 😥 lol.
    Its supose to have only 600 mile on it, but it was outside for 60 years .
    I think i need to open it and check it. But i have no clue how to do it. Your video is gold for me! 😉👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

    I have a Willys '52 thats what the title says lol the body is from the 70's its a project car any advice on where to get started and how do you keep track of what parts go where?
