I made one myself, with an additional field, for Receipt/Invoice Number.... now my new task, is to save all info to another sheet, so i can print all records on a per month, per year basis, iam checking your other vids for the vba codes...... still, the tutorial you're giving are all AWESOME !! .. HI Seb, trying to program VBA on a mac is a losing battle since the functionality is very limited. You may want to try a PC version of Excel in a windows environment inside the Mac or switch to a PC. I wish Microsoft had invested more with VBA in macs but they did not. I hope this helps and thanks so much.

Great application! The only thing I’d change is shifting the ‘admin’ month and amount columns down. They become hidden as a result having no more receipts to review which removes them from the month to month overview chart
Great tip Craig that makes sense when they are hidden. That is a good point if they are dragged down a few rows then the issue is gone. Much appreciated as always.
This is great, fun time putting it together. I was wondering how can we take it one step further, you take the picture of the receipt and save it is there a away to convert the image and auto add the info from the pic to the right cells? I have searched, I can only find convert image to text but nothing that takes the text and puts in the right cells. Is there away? Hi Patrick thanks so much. it is difficult, but possible. It all depends on the quality and structure of your receipt. You would need to have a different procedure for every receipt. Once it is in the Text form, you could parse the text and extract the relevant information such as vendor, date & amount, however you would need to create these templates for every receipt. Possible, but not easy. Thanks for the great question. (Also look into 3rd party software for this too)

Hi Randy, Thanks for this amazing tutorial. For some strange reason the 'Receipts to Review is 1 still one after I moved all receipts to the Archive folder. If there is one receipt in my Receipts folder the 'Receipts to Review' is also 1. What could be the issue? I am using an IMac. Thanks
HI and thanks I had a similar problem initially. Double check that your formulas & code match mine. Feel free to download my version using the links in the description. I am sooo sorry. I spent some trying to think how i solved this issue and I even looked over my code and formulas and i can't remember. Make sure that your CountIf Range is exactly the same as the Named Range for "ListFiles". Also re-run the code to calculate the sheet (the one I demonstrated in the video) But if your workbook, matches my workbook it should work. (also make sure to check for hidden files in your folder)
Hi Randy, thank you for this excellent tutorial, I also ran into this issue, and you address how to correct it in your video and in you answer here:" Make sure that your CountIf Range is exactly the same as the Named Range for "ListFiles". " Making these Ranges the same corrected the issue for me, and for those that would like an explanation (Note: This explanation might be totally wrong lol)- It is not counting the actual files in the folder ,but the number of populated cells in the named range, representative of the files in the folder, therefore if the range encompasses a cell with a value of any sort the formula will "count" that cell. What I did notice while looking at this issue is that if I had five receipts in the folder ( and the named range included the erroneous cell value) then number of files (receipts) displayed was still correct. i.e. 5 pics, value of Five, versus what I would think should have been 6 ( including the erroneous cell value), so I don't really understand that result(and then one remaining when the five pics were gone).(Note: This explanation might be totally wrong ,and maybe confusing,..lol) However, awesome tutorial using a mix of formulas and vba to create a super functional tracker, that I have already started to customize to suit my needs. Hi John, there are many color palates in Excel. For the Expense Tracker i used 'Adjacency'. You can find this one if you go to Page Layout, then 'Themes' Once you switch it will look just like mine in the video. I try to switch Themes sometimes so that all of my applications don't always look exactly the same. I hope this helps and thanks for the great question.

Hi, can you please prepare an Excel Template so that a bank reconciliation statement can be done very efficiently and quickly. Let me know you the fact that in bank reconciliation we have to match thousands of debit entries of general ledger of thousands of credit entries of bank depending on a unique check/cheque numbers and vice versa i.e. thousands of credit entries of general ledger with thousands of debit entries of bank statement. In bank reconciliation, we have to reconcile (exactly match) amounts by matching check/cheque numbers. Can you please do it?

I downloaded the workbook, when I change the receipt file address to my local file, it doesn't show the files on the list and when i press the button to check for new receipts, it says that there's no new... Hello Randy. Love your work, big fan! I have two issues after doing this tutorial. The first is the dates don't input into my table - it just say 'DATE' The second is the invoice amount doesn't enter and doesn't total to a new amount in th emonthly chart on the left. I see on the demo that it's the same on yours. Surly the date should be visible and the amount should continue to total? AM i being really inept? Thanks in advance Bailey

I'm having issues with the sumifs part. Haven't gotten past it to know if I'll have any other issues lol. Well it won't return the sum for what I have in my expenses amount. It shows $0.00, if I change -9,1 to what you have-10,1 it gives me a thousand times more than what I have in my expenses amount.

Please make it without receipt but with the search option in which when we enter the product name or category it shows the list of that product with dates and amount on which we expense means it shows the list in which it shows the record of that product

i had downloaded your expense tracker and now having trouble with folder path won't pull files from the folder. i'm using mac and i had tried to link but it doesn't let me pull anything. In Column M, i follow your code Index... and it won't show anything else beside error thingy. how do i do it? i want to link google drive to L2 which i have folder path already and double check but in excel it doesn't let me. i'm using excel 2019 on mac.

Really frustrated because the formula in B11 to calculate the monthly value is showing as the #Value! error in my attempt. I've followed the formulas step by step using the name manager several times and still receive the error message. I then tried to compare the formulas in the downloaded version of he worksheet only to find that the formulas you have used in the download version are different to those in the video in that you don't use the name manager. If I follow the formula in the downloaded sheet I don't receive the error message. Why doesn't the download sheet match the video. It would be so much more helpful.
Hi Donna, thanks for your feedback. Since I make these videos live, there are times when there are updates to formulas if i find issues after I have recorded. This is why I provide the download. If you run into any issues at all, it is always best to compare the download with the video. While I try to prevent this and plan as much as possible, it can happen that a few issues are not caught during the video, but always fixed in the download version. When i enter all my information from the receipt and hit save and next....the date doesn't come in it just says the text "date". So it doesnt give me any totals for my month. How do i fix this?

Hi, despite my app showing "6 receipts to review", when i click "6 Receipts to review", it returns error "the linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been removed, renamed, or deleted. Verify the link points to the correct file and location". Any help please?
Hi Ahmed, you can check the file link directly by stepping through the code with F8, or having that file link placed in a cell. Then compare that exact file path with the correct one to see if there are any differences. I hope this helps. - A Sheet control dashboard (show only 1 sheet and hide the rest)
- a drop-down list of buttons while I click on a button ( not a drop-down word list)
But I don't have that much time to learn everything in your courses because I don't need those tips. I am creating a small database system for my public school which is no payment for me to learn while I don't have enough money to learn.

Hello. I watched and emulated the entire tutorial. I made one myself, with an additional field, for Receipt/Invoice Number.... now my new task, is to save all info to another sheet, so i can print all records on a per month, per year basis, iam checking your other vids for the vba codes...... still, the tutorial you're giving are all AWESOME !! .. HI Seb, trying to program VBA on a mac is a losing battle since the functionality is very limited. You may want to try a PC version of Excel in a windows environment inside the Mac or switch to a PC. I wish Microsoft had invested more with VBA in macs but they did not.

Great application! The only thing I’d change is shifting the ‘admin’ month and amount columns down. They become hidden as a result having no more receipts to review which removes them from the month to month overview chart

I was wondering how can we take it one step further, you take the picture of the receipt and save it is there a away to convert the image and auto add the info from the pic to the right cells? I have searched, I can only find convert image to text but nothing that takes the text and puts in the right cells. Is there away? Hi Patrick thanks so much. it is difficult, but possible. It all depends on the quality and structure of your receipt. You would need to have a different procedure for every receipt. Once it is in the Text form, you could parse the text and extract the relevant information such as vendor, date & amount, however you would need to create these templates for every receipt. Possible, but not easy. Thanks for the great question. (Also look into 3rd party software for this too)

HI and thanks I had a similar problem initially. Double check that your formulas & code match mine. Feel free to download my version using the links in the description. I am sooo sorry. I spent some trying to think how i solved this issue and I even looked over my code and formulas and i can't remember. Make sure that your CountIf Range is exactly the same as the Named Range for "ListFiles".
Also re-run the code to calculate the sheet (the one I demonstrated in the video)
But if your workbook, matches my workbook it should work. (also make sure to check for hidden files in your folder)

Hi Randy, thank you for this excellent tutorial, I also ran into this issue, and you address how to correct it in your video and in you answer here:" Make sure that your CountIf Range is exactly the same as the Named Range for "ListFiles". "
Making these Ranges the same corrected the issue for me, and for those that would like an explanation (Note: This explanation might be totally wrong lol)- It is not counting the actual files in the folder ,but the number of populated cells in the named range, representative of the files in the folder, therefore if the range encompasses a cell with a value of any sort the formula will "count" that cell. What I did notice while looking at this issue is that if I had five receipts in the folder ( and the named range included the erroneous cell value) then number of files (receipts) displayed was still correct. i.e. 5 pics, value of Five, versus what I would think should have been 6 ( including the erroneous cell value), so I don't really understand that result(and then one remaining when the five pics were gone).(Note: This explanation might be totally wrong ,and maybe confusing,..lol)
However, awesome tutorial using a mix of formulas and vba to create a super functional tracker, that I have already started to customize to suit my needs.

Are you using a theme? My color pallet is totally different than yours when I go-to format. I can't come close to getting your colors.
Hi John, there are many color palates in Excel. For the Expense Tracker i used 'Adjacency'. You can find this one if you go to Page Layout, then 'Themes' Once you switch it will look just like mine in the video. I try to switch Themes sometimes so that all of my applications don't always look exactly the same. I hope this helps and thanks for the great question.

Hi, can you please prepare an Excel Template so that a bank reconciliation statement can be done very efficiently and quickly. Let me know you the fact that in bank reconciliation we have to match thousands of debit entries of general ledger of thousands of credit entries of bank depending on a unique check/cheque numbers and vice versa i.e. thousands of credit entries of general ledger with thousands of debit entries of bank statement. In bank reconciliation, we have to reconcile (exactly match) amounts by matching check/cheque numbers.

I have two issues after doing this tutorial.
The first is the dates don't input into my table - it just say 'DATE'
The second is the invoice amount doesn't enter and doesn't total to a new amount in th emonthly chart on the left.
I see on the demo that it's the same on yours. Surly the date should be visible and the amount should continue to total? AM i being really inept? Thanks in advance Bailey

Then also use F8 so you can step through the code, line by line, to understand what is going on with the code. You have probably set the wrong row, so make sure the row for new transactions is the first available row.

Well it won't return the sum for what I have in my expenses amount. It shows $0.00, if I change -9,1 to what you have-10,1 it gives me a thousand times more than what I have in my expenses amount.

Please make it without receipt but with the search option in which when we enter the product name or category it shows the list of that product with dates and amount on which we expense means it shows the list in which it shows the record of that product

Hi Michael, thanks for your comment. Google Sheets resides in a browser and uses a scripts engine while Excel for desktop, which this template is based on, only runs on your computer, within Excel. I hope this helps and thanks so much.
Hi. Great video. I need your help. My receipts pictures are not showing up on Excel. It says 'picture cannot be displayed'. my receipts are saved as PDF. Is PDF the reason the images are not showing up? Please advise. thanks

Hi Rachel, thanks for your message. The downloaded version is the same one I used in the training and includes everything. Make sure you enable editing and macros.

i had downloaded your expense tracker and now having trouble with folder path won't pull files from the folder. i'm using mac and i had tried to link but it doesn't let me pull anything. In Column M, i follow your code Index... and it won't show anything else beside error thingy. how do i do it? i want to link google drive to L2 which i have folder path already and double check but in excel it doesn't let me. i'm using excel 2019 on mac.

HI thanks for your comment. ApMirror is not needed. (I just used that application to show you what i was doing on my phone, inside the video)

Really frustrated because the formula in B11 to calculate the monthly value is showing as the #Value! error in my attempt. I've followed the formulas step by step using the name manager several times and still receive the error message. I then tried to compare the formulas in the downloaded version of he worksheet only to find that the formulas you have used in the download version are different to those in the video in that you don't use the name manager. If I follow the formula in the downloaded sheet I don't receive the error message. Why doesn't the download sheet match the video. It would be so much more helpful.
Hi Donna, thanks for your feedback. Since I make these videos live, there are times when there are updates to formulas if i find issues after I have recorded. This is why I provide the download. If you run into any issues at all, it is always best to compare the download with the video. While I try to prevent this and plan as much as possible, it can happen that a few issues are not caught during the video, but always fixed in the download version. Thanks for your understanding and comment.
When i enter all my information from the receipt and hit save and next....the date doesn't come in it just says the text "date". So it doesnt give me any totals for my month. How do i fix this?

Hi, despite my app showing "6 receipts to review", when i click "6 Receipts to review", it returns error "the linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been removed, renamed, or deleted. Verify the link points to the correct file and location". Any help please?
Hi Ahmed, you can check the file link directly by stepping through the code with F8, or having that file link placed in a cell. Then compare that exact file path with the correct one to see if there are any differences.

how do you update the downloaded tracker - so it points to my folders etc?
