    I know this video is several years old now, but it helped me so much. This helped me put together my dashboard report last night . I originally built it in Tableau and my boss could not access it. Since i already had the raw data in excel, i decided to make an Excel version and your guidance helped me to put it together very quickly. Your tips on slicers and joining multiple worksheets to those slicers were invaluable. Thank you!

    Thank you for this video tutorial It's so amazing!! I use Excel a lot for very complex calculations on a daily basis that sometimes involves tends of thousands of data and dependent calculations spanning over multiple sheets, but I always struggle when I bring everything together to present in a simple readable format. It often gets too simple that makes my work look too easy and often unappreciated, and other times I add a bit more details which then make it a bit too complicated for readers to understand. Adding pivot tables on top of my calculations tends to cause workbook slowness so I haven't been a huge fan of pivot features, but I guess I'll now have to figure out a way to work with pivots. Thanks again for the video.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  3 года назад

      Great to see you're keen to use these techniques. I personally haven't found PivotTables to every slow down a workbook. For me it's usually formulas that are the culprit!

    One hint, I hope it'll be helpful.
    For the alignment of the objects/ diagrams you could press "alt" while you move them with the mouse.
    Then the objects will adjust to the grid, even when it's tunred out.
    So you could also make sure that the objects have the same height or width.

    Great, great presentation. Regarding your sparkline name range issue - I am pretty sure you can build one dynamic name range that automatically picks up the right ranges based on the labels in your sparkline table - and that rightsized for the size of the pivot table (growing month by month). The name range formula will not look pretty though! :-) Let me know if you want me to build it.

    • @MyOnlineTrainingHub
      @MyOnlineTrainingHub  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks, Christopher! You can build a dynamic range for the PivotTable, but the Sparkine won't take a single dynamic range for a group of Sparklines, it will only take a dynamic range for a single Sparkline. I didn't have time to build a 7 dynamic ranges and insert 7 separate Sparklines in the video as I was trying to keep it under 1 hour long.

    • @ChristopherMangels
      @ChristopherMangels 6 лет назад

      You can happily assign one named range to one sparkline and copy that down. Works pretty neat. I sent you a Mail with the tweaked example file. Have fun. (I totally think that the name range definition in this case is something not fitting into this dashboard webinar, It would take 10 minutes alone to explain the formulas I used. )

    • @cokorda
      @cokorda 6 лет назад

      Hi Christopher, since I have all the time to do this, can you help me out to make the sparklines adapt to the data growth? please let me know if you can and I'll send you my email/maybe you can write it down here.
      Thanks!

    • @ChristopherMangels
      @ChristopherMangels 6 лет назад

      Cokorda Bagus Krisna Dharma Putra Yes, no problem - will post the name definition later here.

    • @ChristopherMangels
      @ChristopherMangels 6 лет назад

      Cokorda Bagus Krisna Dharma Putra
      1. Define a named range that dynamically refers to the right row in the sparkline data sheet. Ideally it should grow in columns as the data for future months is added. For example like this: "=OFFSET('Sparkline Pivots'!$A$5,MATCH(Dashboard!$D15,'Sparkline Pivots'!$A$6:$A$13,0),1,,COUNTA('Sparkline Pivots'!$5:$5)-1)"
      For simplicity I created three names (1 for each chain + all chains). You can build it into one named range. However the resulting formula would be really hard to read.
      2. Assign that same name to one of the sparklines as needed. Then copy to where you want to.
      --> Done - the sparklines even look a little nicer with this fix.
