All the steps worked great I’m just having trouble with the AppActivate.. I’m using PDF XChange Editor, and can’t figure out how to make it go back to it to fill out the second form.

Hi and thanks for your comment. The best way to approach this is to put away your mouse and determine what keystrokes are needed to go back to the 2nd form. Once you figure that out, you can then use those same keystrokes inside VBA using Sendkeys command.
I hope this helps. I am just looking the same in excel file. I am having a fillable template in Excel sheet and I have another table in next sheet. This tillable template in excel will fill from the data in next sheet in a table. It’s nearly 1000 data. I wish to create 1000 separate excel sheet in a folder. And same time - I am looking for a feature where I can review one single data and send an email directly. Please do let me know - if you have something like this in excel not PDF ?

Hi Randy, another great video that open horizons to people who seeks solutions to routine tasks.
I have a question and two suggestions (solutions) for specific issue regarding Adobe Acrobat new interface
First question: I have a PDF template that consist of 122 form fields in 3 pages (3rd page is the instruction page and nothing to do with Form Fields, no Fields at all). when I run the macro it runs with first record normally until the last Form Field in 2nd page and saves the template. But when it goes back to next person's record and starts filling the Form Fields it does not stars filling from the first Field of Page1 instead from the first Field on Page 2, then goes to the end field of Page 2 (that is also last Field of the template) and returns to the top filed on Page 1. So it fills Form Fields with data that are not related to the fields.
I am looking for a command to control or send the cursor to the first Page and first Form Field (Like Page Up kind of thing)
Solutions that I have found for some problems related to Adobe Acrobat Pro's new interface that maybe some of the followers of this channel encounter
    1. When you try to Save As the document with CTRL+SHIFT+S, Adobe brings a interface where it says SAVE IN RECENT FOLDER and there are only CANCEL and CHOOSE A DIFFRENT FOLDER options (buttons) without any Short-Cut
I tried the following and it worked

    Application.Wait Now + 0.00001
Application.SendKeys "^+(s)", True 'Save As command
    Application.Wait Now + 0.00002
Application.SendKeys "~", True ' ENTER(it opens SaveAs window where you can see directory and files.
    Application.Wait Now + 0.00002
Application.SendKeys "%(n)" ' Now we go into File Name field
Application.SendKeys NewPDFFile, True ' It enter the File Name as we defined in VBA (NewPDFFile)
    Application.Wait Now + 0.00003
Application.SendKeys "~", True ' Another ENTER to jump to Save Button
    Application.SendKeys "%(s)", True ' Save
    Application.Wait Now + 0.00003
    2. New Adobe does not have old school Menu Bar, so you can not find Reset Form short cut as in other PDF programs (At least I couldn't). I found a solution and have a suggestion for Randy. How likely we can add a macro that asks user for "which PDF program will be used to fill the form" with options of know PDF programs (Like Nitro, Adobe etc.) and uses the short-cuts accordingly.
Solution to Reset Form for Adobe Acrobat Pro that i tried and worked
    A. Make a Box in your form and place it on the top of the page somewhere that user will not go on it by mistake (like corner of the page), because it will be invisible
    B. Go in to Properties / General - Choose VISIBLE
    C. Properties / Appearance -Choose NO BORDER COLOR and NO FILL COLOR
    D. Properties / Position -Make it as small as can be
    E. Properties / Options -Choose Layout=Label Only, Behavior= None
    Last but not Least
    F. Properties / Actions - Select Trigger=ON FOCUS, Select Action= RESET A FORM (Choose all fields that you want to reset, in fact you have to choose all if you will fill the form with VBA)
AND DON'T FORGET TO PUT THE BUTTON ON THE TOP OF TAB HIERARCHY

Hi and thanks so much. I am not familiar with the new interface, however the best way to go about something like this is to put away your mouse and map out all the steps using your keyboard shortcuts. Then, add them all in to VBA with Sendkeys and make sure to put lots of wait delays so the code runs slow. You should then be able to find any issues. I hope this helps. Hello. Great videos you have here.
I am trying to make a fillable PDF registration form and I can't get monetary cells. Once the document is transformed into a PDF, the cells are fillable but I cannot make them monetary nor align them nicely.
I saw the 'Create Word Documents & Emails From Any Excel Table, With Number Formatting, Without Mail Merge' video but I'd like to do all of this number formatting inside of a fillable PDF.
Do you have another tutorial that shows how to make a fillable PDF with monetary cells?

But I'm getting an error message that's holding me back from moving forward. I just joined the Facebook Group but I also wanted to see if you could help me out here. On line .Filters.Add "PDF Type Files", "*.pdf", 1 I'm getting a "Run-time error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method error message. Any idea why I'd be getting this message? Thank you for your help and I look forward to diving into all your videos and joining your website.

Hi there, Great work. The big problem for me is that it cant fill the pdf with Greek Strings. It can be filled with dates or numbers but not with Greek strings. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance. BTW for Acrobat Reader you need to activate the filename and not the program itself (Acrobat) at thee end so you can close it after.

    • @ExcelForFreelancers
      @ExcelForFreelancers  2 года назад

Thank you so very much, I really appreciate the feedback on the filename issue. On the Greek Strings, try the character equivalent. For example, the Checkmark is Chr(252)
So for example you can use Sendkeys the Chr(252) you can find the character equivalent # when you use 'Insert Symbols' in Excel you can look for the # below.

if I'm not mistaking, I noticed you do not work with tables that much (I mean the predefined ones that you get from the Insert menu or by pressing Ctrl+T over some existing data). And I would love to know the pros of not using them (because I use them a lot :) ). But my Excel experience is not as advanced as yours, so I might be missing something ..

Tables are great and fast to use when you want a specific output in a few different formats, however I want data without any limitations and I find tables very limiting, especially with VBA. I want to control every part of my data and the way in which I work with it, without any limits. You can see more pro's and cons of using tables here:

Hi Randy I was able to create the fillable PDF in PDFescapes just as you had instructed. My problem came when I tried to open it in EXCEL. I found the file and tried to open it in EXCEL but received the message "The file format and extension of "Work Order.pdf" don't match. The file could be corrupted or unsafe. Unless you trust it's source, don't open it. Do you want to open it anyway?" If I click yes then I get "The Text Wizard has determined that your data is Delimited. If this is correct, choose Next, or choose the data type that best describes your data" I can also choose "Fixed" width. Either way it opens the file in a lot of data and not as the form.

Thank you Randy. Your training is spectacular. Do you have an option to lock or protect the user form without disabling the table so the user can only click on the fields to enter information, the buttons and the table? Thanks again.

Hi TK thanks very much. You can apply cell protection to those cells that should be locked and remove the protection for those cells that should not be. This way when you protect the sheet with a password, users cannot change what is in the table. Those cell should remain protected. Inside your code, when protecting the sheet, use xlUserInterfaceOnly. This allows VBA to make changes to cells that are protected, but not the user. I hope this helps and thanks.

This video was very helpful. Thank you! However, I am running into a problem: After the macro completes and goes to the next row, it resets the PDF form successfully, but then starts on a random field towards the end of the PDF file rather than starting at the first field. Any ideas why this is happening? It seems that tabbing on the Foxit PDF Reader starts on the first tab position of the current page rather than returning to page 1 (my PDF form has two pages).

@@ExcelForFreelancers I appreciate the quick response! I was able to figure out a fix for my issue. I added an additional step after saving the file:
      Application.SendKeys "^{PGUP}", True
Since my PDF is two pages, this is all I needed. I suppose if you have a PDF form with x pages, you would want to duplicate the above step x-1 times before returning to the top of the main loop.
Thank you again for a very helpful video!!
