  • This may be a flop but I had fun :)
After binging a lot of ‪@HipyoTech‬ I decided to get a keyboard ignoring everything Hipyo has taught me.
Huge thanks to Hakko for the station! :) www.hakko.com/

very cool video, I have been having toughts on swapping out my switches on my Corsair K90 Vengance keyboard aswell, this video is exactly what I needed to see how to make it, probably want to get that de-soldergun for easier removal.
I would probably also use blue switches but leave the 18G switches as is, never relly used em.

Finally someone who prefers Clicky over Silent switches.
    Thumbs up bro.

I don't know why but I like the way the keyboard vibrates when you use the solder sucker.
    Motion blur~

Yep! They also put one underneath the cap for the volume wheel lol. that one took some time to find.

what brush did you use when you were wiping down the circuit board with iso? weird question I know lol, just always trying to find good additions to my toolkit. great vid, seems like a pain but given the unique formfactor of the board was probably worth it, also just interesting seeing the process. you got yourself a sub from me for sure

this is exactly what i want to do right now... but what do you think about using Mill-Max or similiar. that make our pcb easily swappable with any switch?

Pushing switches through the switch plate usually makes my thumbs hurt afterwards so I think you're fine with the amount of force you're using. Nothing broke right?
Also, I love keyboard videos I wouldn't mind seeing more! Keep up the great work and gratz on the sponsorship!

nothing broke as far as I could tell lol. Just felt so wrong but the typing on this bad boy feels so right

That was a surprisingly enjoyable video!
Is your new Hakko desoldering gun easy to empty? Their old guns I used years ago were a PITA in that respect

      Thank you! :)
This gun is super easy to dump. The solder cartridge pops right out then clicks right back in

I like the blue switches too. Probably since I've used an IBM model M keyboard for over 30 years, and when it started to die I wanted to replace it with something that had a similar typing feel. I might even like the green switches better (a bit more forceful spring and LOUDER!).

If you don't mind me asking, where can I find the same switches that you are using. I have the exact same keyboard and I'm wanting to switch out the switches too for a better lighting system. Also, I agree with clicking and feel of the keys. I like the same feeling of a typewriter!

    You have retained me.
You will not thwart my determination with silly long videos.

i hate that they stopped making these kinds of keyboards. all the modern customizable keyboards with swappable switches and stuff are those nasty little abbreviated things with hardly any buttons on them at all. i want all the buttons, and extra buttons on the side

Wait this keyboard is considered old now? Oh no 😔

Unfortunately :( The listings date back as far as 2014 and they are really hard to find.

I've got one of these, the enter switch has some problems, when I press it it's either not working at all or double-pressing itself. Rarely, it also does work normally. I wanted to see how to change that switch but after this video I don't think I will have the patience to do that 😂😂

I did it a total of three times now and can't recommend it after that 😂
I had two that I changed to blues then changed one of those blues to box jades. I love them now but can't do it anymore lol. I also then modded them both for USB c

is it profitable to improve the switches?
