    I still have an OG K95 RGB from just after the tramp stamp fiasco that I still use to this day, glad to see someone else keeping one running too

    i did a similar thing with my blackwidow 2014 where if desoldered the old razer greens and replaced them with lubed and filmed box whites and tape modded the pcb

    Also got one of these. replaced all the switches with mx box navys years ago and im thinking about swapping them again. Doing that was such a pain in the ass with how many switches this board has. I cant imagine how much work it was to get all of these switches prepped too!

    that screw on the right of the volume roller is a nasty design decision. ask me how I know.

    Thanks for the video. Stupid question: after you de-soldered the switches, did you have to re-solder them, or can they be placed back on the PCB without solder? Many thanks!

      yep, that's what I did in the video. the desoldering was done a couple months prior to making this video :)

    Any noticeable difference in light shining trough the Cherry MX brown and your Gaterons?

    You lucky basta ... I've been looking for this particular KB for 2 years now and it rarely pops up on Ebay. I NEED THIS THING.

    Got a link to those caps? Having difficulty on that site filtering down to what I’m looking for

    Are you in Japan? I'm guessing you are based on the tea you're drinking. I was wondering, would be possible to pay to have you mod a K95 similar to what you did in the video?

    out of curiosity i am also currently working on a more recent k95, do i have to resolder the switches back onto the board for it to function? nowadays its just replaceable without soldering but i was wondering if i needed to resolder or not

    • @uniKB
      @uniKB  Год назад

      if you had to desolder them to remove them then yes, you need to resolder. if the board is hotswap then no solder is involved during the process

      @@uniKB i see, can i also ask how strong your soldering pen was? i was trying today to remove the solder off my k95 rgb platinum xt and long story short, the solder wouldnt melt? reason why im trying to replace my switches was because for whatever reason my D key ends up typing multiple times when pressed once. any possible way i can solve this problem?

      @@emedy9612 not sure, we've had this soldering iron in the garage for years at this point, it has no temp control or indicator ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    I had a question man, if I spilled water on my keyboard and my keys don’t register but my rgb works fine, you think replacing switches will fix my issue? Planning on rebuilding my K95 platinum

    • @uniKB
      @uniKB  2 года назад

      hmm, if none of the switches are working i'd assume the problem is with the circuits/pcb. i doubt swapping out the switches would help

    • @Metazolid
      @Metazolid Год назад

      @@uniKB From my experience, it depends on the PCB. There isba good chance that replacing the switches is going to work, particularly because all the sensitive circuits are on the underside and don't get fried so easily.

    Was the desoldering job tricky? Looking to do a similar project

    • @uniKB
      @uniKB  Год назад

      it was my first time desoldering, and my equipment was less than ideal. if you have good tools it shouldnt be that big of an issue

      @@uniKB i am trying to repair my k95, im honestly not that deep into this as you or anyone else, btw bravo on that key job, it looks so meticulous, anyways im gonna leave my question up top but without getting too deep into it i decided to practice desoldering on a k90, apparently it uses 4 solder points instead of 2, an man, that shit so far has been such a freaking hassle the 2 smaller pins on each key will not come out even with all the solder soaked up, im worried to try it on my k95 now, but the 2 bottom main ones come out easily which the k 95 only consists of but still😬
