I would actually enjoy gaming keyboards to be modded and made as good as customs more than custom ones themselves. Because software, wireless, latency and RGB integration is still straight up better on them, if they felt the same they would be the better boards
I actually modded a gaming board. (Armageddon smk-9r). Replaced the switches with outemu purples and lubed them with krytox 205g0. Then replaced the keycaps with gmk darlings. Now it's poppy as hell
Software in terms of keymappings is straight up worse, USB latency (poll rate) of most top gaming boards are 1000Hz (I'm pretty sure this is limited by USB protocol), which QMK can be configured to with #define USB_POLLING_INTERVAL_MS 1, and picking up multiple keypresses in the same 1ms interval with #define QMK_KEYS_PER_SCAN.
I agree with everything except for the software part, as a lot of them are kinda bloatware-ish. QMK is meh, but Via and Vial are imo better than almost all OEM software.
As a guy who's still using his Corsair Vengeance K95 (Not even RGB, even before the one you're working on) I am mighty impressed by this video. I love my keyboard and don't really want to throw it away just yet. I might do some restoration like you are doing ;)
Mx browns or most tactical switches are only good for vsrg ( vertical scrolling rhythm game ) so sound voltex beatmania iidx etterna osu mania quaver ect ( if you want to play sound voltex or iidx just buy a fucking controller from gamo2 don’t waste your time playing on keyboard ).

Its still pretty good but I'm definitely gonna change it to otemu red that it supports. the redragon k552 is also a pretty popular keyboard so maybe try to do a video on that??

I have a Corsair k75 rgb mk2 and it has a lot of issues: spring ping issue, rattley space bar etc… but it is a brill keyboard with the software it’s amazing
You didn't mention the "hidden screw" underneath the volume roller (under right side plastic U cover). Also at 3:23 you can see (in between a ribbon connector and a 4 pin connector), the fallen out plastic 1 inch pressure bar which sits in the black plastic backing normally and presses down on the fingers (white + copper) contact pad which you can see on the left hovering under the media keys PCB. Both of these features are "anti consumer". Shame Corsair! People get tripped up on these details when attempting their own repairs.

K70 keycaps tend to break rather easily at the stem of the keycaps, that's the problem I had as well. Was that not a problem in this case?

I got this same exact one for 20 at a thrift store with cherry MX reds. It's pretty good but the spacebar sounds like yours beforehand
