So Alphen is over 300 years old.
Guess the developers were listening when people were asking for an older protagonist
Yeah... at most he looks around early 20s but thats it. Probably one of the few protagonists that are ever so slightly older than a teen(Milla, Ludger, Yuri... that’s literally the only Tales of series protagonists that are over the age of 19...)
@@thebakalord Velvet is also 19 after the prologue.
Apparently he’s 21 physically according to the art book.
@@thebakalord Suikoden III have mature protagonist called Geddoe he look like 30+ age and his real age is older than it looks.
@@josiahDT I'm guessing that's to avoid spoilers.
Ray Chase is an amazing voice actor, you can hear the utter despair and anguish in Alphen's voice as he recounts all this.
In case you didn't know, he voices Noctis.
@@jackripple5179 tee hee! ^_^
@@jackripple5179 Actually what i recognized him from was the Master of Masters in Kingdom Hearts
derp
@@mohammadwaheed9848 Oh really? Then I'm guessing you can perform that very same scene with the same emotional depth and range that Ray Chase did, right?
My god. The absolute mind fuck that would happen to you after remembering something like that. Poor Alphen....
*Alphen:* The Captain America of Tales.
Captain Dahna?
They pulled from a lot of places for this one
Witcher: two swords style
Berserk: Armor
Iron Mask: Bastille prisoner of 1703
I remember joking about him being the sovereign or something on my first day of playing this game... had no words after this scene 😂😂
It was so obvious, amnesia is a common tool for writers to hide a character important role in the plot.
@@Sebek031 we find out later it was because of the the mask he lost his memory
@@LIONPRINCE2001 i think that was obvious from the beginning of the game of why he couldn't remember anything
@@lightning13clair29 I had a suspicion of it but wasn't sure until the scene later confirmed it
@@LIONPRINCE2001 yeah 😊
Voice actin sounds great - can really hear the actor channelling emotion through his voice.
Most VAs take acting class such as theatrical, film acting before Voice acting. Many say it does help get into the character of what they are doing.
Alphen is voiced by Ray Chase. The same guy who voices Noctis in Final Fantasy 15
I thought that Aplhen is half Renan/half Denhan since only half of his mask shine when he first used the sword and was put into iron mask and brainwashed to hide his existence from both Renans and Dehnans. And that ending would be him winning the contest and becoming soverign so he can free Dehnans and then be basically bridge between both Dehnans and Renans.
I had the same theory at first.
But of course the further you play. Even past this point....the theory is really thrown out of the water.
that would have been so amazing honestly
Man me too
Before, I thought that he was simply a Renan soldier that chose to disobey his commanders' orders. And thus, as punishment, he was stripped of his name, memories and forced to wear the iron mask (his identify stripped away).
I can certainly say that I was quite far off.
finally I can use another hair than broken mask hair style
You'd think having a mask on your face all teh time would accumulate some nasty skin diseases in there.
@@DekkarJr nah the mask acted as both sedative, cleanser and so on for the skin. He even said he was able to see even with the mask on, meaning that light wasn’t prevented by the physical properties of the mask.
@@thebakalord how was he able to eat tho?
@@DekkarJr He said that he had problems at start but once he figure it out he hot use to it or something.
Ray Chase is one of THE BEST Voice Actors in Videogames of our time..First Noctis, then him. He is gold ❤
When Alphen got his memory its almost the equivalent of Luke from tale of abyss finding out he’s a Replica because they both were depress for a while after they learn the truth about themselves
sad part is van knew the whole time about Luke's replica ash and been lying to him the whole time that's how you know van is the traitor and main villain of the game
@@lightning13clair29 What about the reveal that Emil is Ratatosk or Velvet's little brother becoming one of the main villains, Inominot.
@@93SuperSonic bruh really emil didnt know the whole time he was ratatosk and velvet watched her brother die as a sacrifice she didnt know he was inominot she doesn't find out till way later in the game
@@lightning13clair29 Those are still *MAJOR* plot twists like this one with Alphen. Besides, they didn't take the reveals well either...
Finally get to learn about his past. I haven’t played the game though but I did read a bit of information about Alphen and who he is at the start of the game, you know wearing an iron mask and being a slave and all.
Think I should buy this game tbh.
I totally recommend it, the story just gets better and better and so do the environments honestly, it's really insane! :)
You HAVE to. Especially after seeing this
I dont understand why someone would ruin such a large part of the story for themselves...your loss for not fully immersing yourself
@@garrettously3605 : I had a roommate once who said he never got anything less out of something because of spoilers, he just found it to be something to look forward to. Some people are just that way.
I'm personally not bothered much by learning information most of the time, but I'm very partial to SEEING it for myself if I can.
@@theoaremevano3227 this me and my boy lol we stay asking for spoilers and it does not diminish the experience in the slightest in my opinion…it builds more hype like damn I knew this was fire lol
Good thing Dohalim was there to clarify things since he's actually from Lenegis, and the scripture regarding that tragedy is considered common knowledge there. Kind of puts shit into perspective especially where the crown contest is concerned. Do you think the Renans were just looking for a replacement for Alphen as the Sovereign to complete that ceremony? (This is only my educated guess so if this turns out to be the case, it's not my fault).
My guess is that it started like thst but it ended up bexoming a childish dixk mesuring contest.
No, the crown contest is just a ploy to gather as much astral energy from Dahna as possible. The name sovereign ended up getting reused because it is a pretty cool sounding title.
The crown contest was run to farm astral energy in order to remake the Renas Alma for the ceremony. It pretty much had nothing to do with manufacturing sovereigns.
I pity whoever the father of naori's child was, imagine touching your partner and getting electrocuted everytime.
Don't be, pretty sure he's into that shit.
Or she was artificially inpregned to keep her bloodline, dam when you think of it it's a very terrible family curse passed throw women ....
@@Sebek031 that or you know genetic engineering because of the... Plot
Maybe she had the dude wearing the mask to satisfy her wanting Alphen.
That make me curious about priestess husband.
The moment I saw him wearing the iron mask it immediately made me think of the man in the iron mask musketeers movie and instantly knew he must of been a sovereign.
YOOO same here!!!
I wouldn't be surprised if they sort of drew the basic idea from that story. Another Tales game even references it in a skit along with some other works.

Me reading the title: "Alphen gets his money back"
... Did I miss a cutscene?
(then the realization hits)
Why does this ludger-like character always get a similar portion of bad ending to Ludger ? Really heart-wrenching to watch and bear
Not really ending just backstory and beside a character with heavy backstory is a character with good backstory
@@the_jingo oh yeah I mean his side story has the gravity of sadness similar to the bad ending of Ludger
... at least for once, someone doesn’t diss on poor Ludger... or Xillia...
@@chrisgaemz6635 His hair color is similar to Veigue.
@@diaochan7506 you noticed that, too !? What are the odds of that haha
Alien Abduction = Renan abduction.
I like how some of cutscenes look like they are from an anime
Because they are anime cutscenes
Poor guy
Everyone Shock because Alphen is 300
Me: Kratos is 4000 from tales of symphonia , Most of Seraphim/Malak from tales of Zesteria are over 1000 years old
Ratatosk from tales of symphonia dawn of new world is 10,000 years old
Emil is Rotatosk so he is the most older protagonist in rpg ever.
@@diaochan7506 not really he isnt there is others that are way other than him in rpgs
I know this is going to be a lot of work on your part, but I would really like to see all the game's cutscenes to know the game plot/story.
Anyways keep up the good work my guy!
No spoilers
But you need to reach Lenigus & then Planet Rena to get even more shocking plot twist!
Let’s gust say… well… to not spoil anything both Danans & Renans are to be clueless to what you discover & it’s so very surprising & good!!!
(I’m not even want to tell it, I want others to do it themselves that it’s so good!… or interesting!)
What have you done...?
Im commenting on this video to get it into the algorithm.
