This is kinda "open secret" among intrepid travellers, that care to find out and explore. I too have made trips to the Staff Canteen and enjoyed the food over the years, whenever I fly in from Australia. In fact, this Terminal 1 Staff Canteen has been in existence(in various form) when Changi Airport was first built. The airport management knew back then, they had to cater for the needs of the airport staff and workers. Like the saying goes "a hungry worker is an angry worker" heh heh! The other terminals do have staff canteens as well, but I still prefer this original one, as it has a certain charm and appeal. Thank for sharing.
@@linehempel162 Thanks so much for watching. I made this video to give travelers another option and hopefully save a little when eating at the airport. Hope this video helps you decide the best choice based on your travel budget.
Good to show the price you paid. Will be glad if you can let the price line stays a bit longer to make it easier to read. Very helpful video. Thank you 😊

Hi, I see that you went outside to gain entry to the canteen. I am sure that I have seen another video that had an entrance behind/ nearby Check in 13 & 14 in Terminal 1.
Hey i had a flight next week to nz via singapore... N had more than enough time to have dinner and i checked this in other videos as well but i had three question 1) till what time is the staff canteen open. 2) as a connecting flight passenger can we go there as if I am. Not mistaken u have to go just outside the main glass gate to go to the staff canteen (not out the airport premises though). So are layover passengers allowed that. 3) what is the payment mode as in, in some videos it was saying they take cash only... So was it singapore dollar or US dollar that we should carry... Btw I am just starting your video... Commented right of the bat
I believe all the terminals have a staff canteen with different hours. I would recommend checking the google address for each canteen to show you the hours of operation. The canteen we visited closes at 9pm. As far as I know, you will need Singaporean dollars to purchase food and all staff canteens are outside the secure area. As for layovers, if you are still in the secure area I don't think you'll have access to the staff canteen. Have a great trip and thanks so much for watching!
@@grifsfoodandtravel can we not go out of the secure area n come back after we had our food(asking as a novice flyer who is gonna fly international for the first time)...
@@CreativeReaper90s You can leave secure area and see fountain/waterfall and other areas of the airport. But you'll have to go through security again when entering for your next flight. So you'll have to show passport, boarding pass and also go through security screening. If you decide to go out of secure area, I would recommend your layover be over 5 hours. Because it can take a long time to get through security again, when entering. Hope this information is helpful.
Sorry, I don't remember seeing Filipino food. But could have missed it, as there was a lot of different stalls. If you find it, let us know. We love Filipino food!
Things that is purchased in Singapore including food are paid in Singapore currency or the Brunei currency. We don't accept US dollar. As for the staff canteen it's been there for decades and it's only meant for the airport staff Not for tourists nor locals. So happen there is signage and direction leading to the staff canteen. Credit cards are not accepted at the staff canteen
Correction. In Singapore we have malay food besides Chinese and indian food. Seems like this youtuber is confused with malaysian food and Singaporean malay food 🤣 You want to have malaysian food head to malaysia than lol. This is Singapore definitely you will find malay food...the word "malay" do not add the "sian" at the end of it which becomes malaysian ❎
Yes, that could be. But a lot of foreign travelers are not aware of this food court. So it is fun to show and also experience dining at this food court. Have you eaten at this food court?
Exactly...the staff canteen has been there for decades. My family used to eat there when i was a kid. My favourite stall back than was the nasi padang stall at terminal 1 which has better food option than the staff canteen at T2/3/4.

Yes, I went outside to get into the canteen. There maybe another way to get into the canteen, but I'm not aware. Sorry I can't help you there.
If I'm on a layover, would I have to exit through security to get to this?
Yes, the staff canteen is outside of the secure area.
シンガポールでインド料理はいいですね!プラタ美味しそう❤❤❤
プラタ、お勧めです!
Any elevator or escalator to get to the canteen? I will travel with a toddler with a stroller and some suitcases. Thank you in advance for the reply.
I just remember one set of stairs. I don't remember seeing elevator, sorry.
Great video! Do they accept credit card as payment in this staff food court?
No, I believe they just accept Singaporean Dollars as it is a staff food court and not set up for outside diners. Thank you for watching!
They also have a similar food court in the basement of Terminal 3.
You are correct. Thank you for letting our viewers know.
Can you name it pls? Which one is more affordable?
@@JuhiChatterjee-g6uis roughly the same price. The one at terminal 3 is more visible.

wow 7.40 sgd isn't cheap, but it is a good price compared to what you'd get in Jewel ! I must head there soon :)
Yeah, eating at the Jewel food court is rather pricey for sure. Have a fun time on your next trip to Singapore!
Can you pay with the credit card there? Or need a cash?
Singaporean Dollars
I like the place

Hi Sir, we will be arriving at Changi Airport ng 9pm is this open at night?
Sorry, I believe the staff canteens close around 8 or 9pm, depending on the terminal you visit.
The prices are still at a higher side, in particular The economical rice at $7.80 is really overpriced.
He ordered 2 meats and 1 vegetable combinations. That is the correct pricing. If you a tighter budget, choose 2 vegetables selection with rice.
is it luggage-friendly?
Yes, a lot of space and saw other travelers with luggage.
Do they accept USD bills or Credit card?
As far as I know, it is Singaporean Dollar, as it is a staff food court. Thank you for watching!

Actually, they are open 5:00am to 9:00pm.
