To be honest.. the idea of low honour Arthur not dying from TB but become the traitor and snake, and the final enemy John needs to face, is kinda metal. Edit: I would like to note that Low Honour Arthur, staying loyal to Dutch and working against John, becoming an antagonist, also fits the story.
It's like an alternate version of the "And the Truth Set You Free" mission, Arthur never got TB, came back for the money with low honor, managed to kill Micah and escape with Dutch. In 1911, John would search for them under orders from Fordham and Ross.
I think the low honor ending should've been this with you basically replacing Micah as the antagonist but then they would've needed to rename the game 🤣.
Yeah, the low honor ending they went with makes more sense because the game is still about redemption, even with low honor. So Arthur wouldn't turn evil and will still go out helping his friends.

Even GTA V, I'd say was the start of Rockstar settling for more a colorful pallet compared to what they're going for with the beta (e.g; 1st trailer, dev images). But like you said, the characters still looked more hardened and authentic imo.

I would love a game with such different story choices! In RDR2, my Arthur would side with Micah and Dutch, would be so interesting to see the outcome :) I wonder if there is even any game like this at all, where you as player can pick different sides and form unexpected alliances, and there will be many different story branches and endings for each choice... I've never seen such game yet :(
