  • When 'The Walk' becomes 'The Canoe'.
I'm back in North Wales with my mate Phil; and we're going to take a canoe across the highest canal aqueduct on the planet.
Built over ten years between 1795 and 1805 by Thomas Telford and William Jessop, the Pontcysyllte Aquaduct carries the Llangollen canal 126 feet over the River Dee, and across the Vale of Llangollen.
It's an incredible structure in a beautiful part of the United Kingdom.
I hope you enjoy the stunning scenery. Just don't look down.

The Castle is Castell Dinas Bran, its just ruins now but its on top of a MASSIVE hill, it would have been to your right as you were travelling towards Llangollen a bit further along, you would have also been able to see "Worlds end" and Ruabon mountain, some cracking walks up there if you're ever back, right over the top of the mountain to Rhosllanerchrugog. Theres a lot of history up there too, it was bombed heavily by the Germans mistaking it for Liverpool in WW2 etc and the site of quite a few plane crashes

It was lovely. I took the tourist barge across from Llangollen .They have a bar 😊 and walked back. Wouldn't catch me canoeing. It's a tad windy up there but beautiful. Was interesting when a cyclist was taking a road tandem across the footpath. It's narrow. 😥

That's awesome, absolutely beautiful, does that water stay at the same level in the canal?✌️

Yeah, they top up out the river dee, but pretty sure they keep it consistent.
