FWIW I thought the hourglass blush looked really nice on you but I have a question - do I remember correctly that you boycotted them until they improved their shade ranges to include darker skin tones? Did you change your mind and I was hoping you could share why? I don’t keep up too much with hourglass so I am wondering if they listened to feedback. Thanks!
I talked about it in a video analyzing their recent changes/shade expansions and asked people to give their thoughts! Everyone said to review the products but keep the conversation going. Hourglass has made noticeable improvements and their complexion products seem to have balanced ranges, but the powders still skew light. I also got feedback from a few subscribers of color that boycotting brands due to bad shade ranges feels performative and like white saviorism, especially since they go to beauty RUclips for a fluffy escape. I’m trying to learn ways I can be a good ally while taking in feedback from different directions. 😊
@StateofKait really love the second part of your reply because it shows that you truly understand how a lot of you came across with the whole boycotting brands due to shade ranges. I'm not black, I'm Mexican but I remember seeing a lot of influencers make such a big deal over shade ranges and thinking, my God, you don't even see black people complain this much over something that in my opinion is so petty. We are inundated with makeup brands, more than ever. There are TONS of options for all skin tones made by many brands. I never understood this aggression towards the brands that didn't or don't offer 30 different skin shades. And if they offer something that works for your skin tone, it's silly to boycott them just because others cant find something that doesn't work for them.
I'll forever appreciate you talking about the fragrances of products. I'm super sensitive to it too, and is an aspect often overlooked in reviews. I completely relate to that visceral full body response to a bad scent.
It's amazing how many products you review and happily let us know your reasons for "fails." I appreciate it and I am happy I don't have any of these. 😂💚
I totally agree with your assessment of the Make Beauty lipstick. I tried Atmosphere. Hideous! I tried a red from them in the past and couldn’t wear it. It looked clownish on me. I have light skin that’s neutral leaning slightly yellow.😊
Love these fails videos! I wish they would come out with more shades of the Make Beauty lipstick. The About Face lip butters look so fun I keep telling myself I could get over the scent 😅 and the Solar Nude Beauty Pie lipstick looks so pretty but super good to know about the packaging! (I realized I wrote too much but here we are 😂).
I, too, bought Rose Naïf, and it was……okay. I like the color, but wish it had a tiny more color payoff. If you can find a dupe of the color with a tiny bit more pigmentation, I’d love to see one! 🙏😉 I really wanted the BeautyPie lip sheers and had them in my bag for a while (but really don’t need more lip products). I ended up buying Solar Nude because it was on promo, and it looks like death on me. I like the formula, but wish I would’ve just bought the rose shade, because I definitely think that shade would be one I would use regularly. I can make Solar Nude work if I use a liner and gloss, but I don’t want to *have* to do that with lip products. Oh well. 🤷♀️ Thanks for the reviews, Kait! I find the fails just as helpful as the faves, because your descriptions are so thorough! I like knowing what to avoid! 😀
My only fail was I went ahead and tried the Milani HIghly Rated tubing mascara, even though I know you don't recommend it, but mascara is so personal/ individually appreciated. I can't believe how many people like that mascara! I tried it for the whole month and gave it a chance to dry out a little, but it's always just a mess to apply because it takes forever to dry in the lashes and then it weighs my lashes down and makes them droopy and straight. You warned me but then I also warned you the Hourglass blush in that color would turn peachy, ha ha.
I am with ya!!! Mood Exposure was such a huge let down. I almost blind bought it because God it looks perfection and before I could get it, I tried in-store, layering up didn’t help. I looked multiple times thinking I’m playing with another shade…. I am so glad I did because Sephora Middle East doesn’t accept returns and I would be stuck with it forever. I wish it was like how it looks in the pan
Maybe try the dior blush in nude 100. Its like a nude slight peach. Very natural. I only have the old formula so i cant say how the new formula is but i find all dior products lovely
I have spent 35 yrs trying to find good concealer, swatching, reading, comparing for hours and hours .. The only thing that looks good is a peach color corrector, randomly sent to me by ipsy, with a cheap pale beige waterline-eyeliner (wet & wild FTW) used underneath to cover redness or sun spots. So I'm sticking with this new method, esp after learning that catrice has a high end quality version for $6.
PS if you have a bony face or prominent brow, and always have dark undereyes, play with a flashlight. Turned out my dark circles are mostly just shadows from my "architectural" face. It doesn't fix the problem but at least I have stopped spending money on an unfixable issue (unfixable at my technique skill level, I'm sure pros can do invisible highlighting). Color corrector does brighten the area enough to avoid looking sick or exhausted.

Thanks! I just like maintaining a smaller makeup collection. One person simply can’t use so much makeup so I like only owning products that are 10/10’s
I just wanted to let you know that sample sizes of the Vanille 44 are available on their page. After hearing you describe it I needed to give it a try. I just ordered the sample for $13.00 and free shipping.
Love your fails and faves videos. The only issue for me is that as you split them up into separate videos, there is no suspense about whether you love or hate a product 😂 I know you're usually recapping thoughts you've mentioned in previous vids, so your verdict shouldn't really be a surprise anyway, but my goldfish memory means I've often forgotten what you've said about them before.
Would the CT lip be anything like the superstay matte ink from maybelline? I only own the maybelline and I revisited it in my collection recently and it actually gave me a blur
I do flash sales on my Instagram stories! I sanitize products with alcohol but you can’t sanitize products in a tube so people buy at their own risk. I don’t sell anything worn more than 3x.
I am the same way with scents in products. That Refy stuff does smell bad!! I also can’t stand the ilia skin tint serum smell. It made me gag. It smells like a possum that died at the bottom of a bird cage.
I feel like mood exposure really wants to be a fig, but the Hourglass team did it dirty and made it a peach :( also, I know you said you swatched all the Kosas wet sticks, but I feel like you’d like Tropic Bliss. It’s a bit like a mauvey pillowtalk (cooler and darker). It’s become my favorite lipstick. And I love the packaging!! The magnet just really does it for me.
My fails were the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Tint and the Belief Aqua Bomb SPF. Not sure why everyone raves about the DM skin tint. It looked awful on me!
People who can’t afford to buy makeup at full price really appreciate it because I include a BOATLOAD of free PR in every order. I give each person an unlimited amount of PR to choose from so it’s less about the used product, more about all the extras they get to receive. While I wouldn’t buy a used product, I find it best not to judge other people ❤️
I feel the same way about the brands misrepresenting their products. Especially higher end brands. I feel like they're skipping creating curated, unique shades and then just misrepresenting them as what they SHOULD be creating so we're tricked into buying the products. Also, they're getting even more lazy when it comes to shade ranges. 10 lipsticks that are all essentially the same color with just a slight tweak? Come on.
There must be something wrong with my nose, I can’t smell anything in the About Face lip butters, and every review I’ve seen mentions how strong the scent is. 😬
I’m not really sure and kind of confused about what you see yourself when you’re wearing the Malibu Kosas.. because to me, it looks dead on identical to the colour on the website.on you. Also, it looks absolutely beautiful and amazing on you so I’m a little confused by what you’re saying.
Please, recommend me the most amazing and efficient lip balm that you liked, I want one that is BUTTERY and THICK, not thin. I watched your video with all the lipbalms, but I want to recommend me the best. Thank you so much
I do like the color! The formula is just drying and I have almost exact colors like this in a matte velvet formula (Sunnies face girl crush and so good)

Also, totally a pet peeve when brand swatches aren’t accurate!
I've been wondering the same

@@StateofKait thank you so much for the detailed reply! I really respect how you’ve handled this

I hate bulky packaging so much!! It takes up unnecessary room and is impossible to travel with
10000% agree with you on the inaccuracy of product photos. They’re all photoshopped and overly exposed. It’s mind boggling really.
I appreciate you so much for thoroughly discussing product fragrance!! I have chronic migraines and it’s a major trigger for me ❤
I hey horrible headaches from fragrance so I relate ❤️
Kait coming in LIKE A BOSS!!! YES!!!!❤❤❤
Hahahahah
Your fails videos are always so helpful! I had saved those Beauty Pie lipsticks to my wishlist but will now be avoiding lol.
I’ll send them to you if you don’t mind they’ve been used twice!
Agree withball of these! Was going to try the make shadow sticks, good thing I didn't buy!
There are so many better formulas out there
I totally agree with your assessment of the Make Beauty lipstick. I tried Atmosphere. Hideous! I tried a red from them in the past and couldn’t wear it. It looked clownish on me. I have light skin that’s neutral leaning slightly yellow.😊

Great video 😊 I was really interested in the Refy product but will definitely give it a swatch (and sniff) in store now before buying ❤
It’s nice! But not life changing (and too smelly)
I feel like something about liquid velvet matte lipsticks limits shade possibilities, like nuance isn’t really possible.
Isn’t that interesting?! although I feel like the Sunnies Face lip dips have an amazing shade range
I, too, bought Rose Naïf, and it was……okay. I like the color, but wish it had a tiny more color payoff. If you can find a dupe of the color with a tiny bit more pigmentation, I’d love to see one! 🙏😉

Agreed with Mood exposure..I love HG but same reaction from me with that blush
I am with ya!!! Mood Exposure was such a huge let down. I almost blind bought it because God it looks perfection and before I could get it, I tried in-store, layering up didn’t help. I looked multiple times thinking I’m playing with another shade….
I am so glad I did because Sephora Middle East doesn’t accept returns and I would be stuck with it forever.

i would loveeee to try the make beauty lip products, and i loveeee all the colors!!! 🥰🥰🥰
DM me on Instagram, I’ve applied them only twice and am selling them at a discount! You’d get access to a bunch of free PR too
I appreciate your review of the lip blur because I’ve been considering it for a while.
It’s nice!! Just know it’s not mind blowing
Maybe try the dior blush in nude 100. Its like a nude slight peach. Very natural. I only have the old formula so i cant say how the new formula is but i find all dior products lovely
I don't understand the Valentino glitter either. If I want a container of glitter, I'll go to Michaels craft store.
It’s SO weird. Borderline insulting
I think we might be a similar skin tone and the best powder my skin but better blush is the Laura Mercier all that sparkles. For what it’s worth!!!!
Ooooo I’ve never heard of that one!

So many shades that you don’t like still look beautifully flattering on you😮

Thank you! You saved me from ordering mood exposure - I was looking for a cool almost berry lavender, and that’s not it.
Glad I could help!
❤️ your videos! Would give anything to know what lipliner you used with the Chanel Rose Naïf gloss? 🙏🏻💕🙏🏻💕

Fragrance is ALWAYS a deal breaker! Why do they do it??
Would the CT lip be anything like the superstay matte ink from maybelline? I only own the maybelline and I revisited it in my collection recently and it actually gave me a blur
I haven’t tried that one!
You can’t return things you buy with points
They let me…but it was a combo of points and credit card so maybe that’s why?
