Marco, I started learning the guitar (electric) a couple of months back, so a dumb question for you. The packaging advertises Authentic Acoustic Tone. That wouldn’t provide a true sound for someone that’s not planning on gigging, right?
@@Gaslight.Guitar is this amp better suited for an acoustic guitar? The package reference “authentic acoustic sound” does this mean it is better suited for an acoustic guitar or it works well with both electric and acoustic? Make sense?
Great review. Your blues tones were great! I purchased this amp from a friend (for an exceptional price) many years ago when he upgraded to the THR-10 and use it every day
I valued your opinion I'm looking for a room Amp that can handle Thrash / straight metal & some Shred of course . Even though you didn't explore these styles do you think it can do them well ??
You can run it only through powered speakers, a powered cabinet or a PA system and it sounds AWESOME. I run it sometimes through a PA system when jamming with friends and sounds epic. Bonus, it takes pedals stupidly good...
Two completely different amps I guess. Thr5 for home use only with tuner and effects - micro dark is louder, no tuner, no effects. Thr is a great practice amp for jamming in an apartment.
The THR10ii has more amp models, can be edited with an app, Bluetooth for streaming music to play along and also has 3 band EQ. The downside about it compared to the THR5 though is that it doesn’t have a built in battery
Do you have a THR5 or do you want to buy one?
I’m saving up for one. Primarily due to your review and a friend’s recommendation!

@@smokeeater8048 good to hear.not sure what you mean though. Acoustic sound? It definitely is not for gigging. :)

@@smokeeater8048 i believe there is a version for acoustic and electric. I got the electric.
I've never tried or heard a Yamaha THR5 amp, But by the looks of ALL the fantastic reviews - It's the perfect Bedroom amp.👍
Oh!.. And great lighting in this video 😁
Haha tried another room today.. ;)
Have a nice evening
i got the thr10c and the amp models are so good for such low volumes

Thank you. :) cool you enjoy it!
I got one of these brand new with tape on the box still. I have never opened it. I had it about 18 months.
Why!!
Why?
thx for this realistic review. most other reviews consist of some random guy just shredding up and down the fretboard.
Haha, youre welcome. I guess Im too bad for shredding lmao. ;))
Thank you for interesting review. Can it be used with acoustic guitar?
Thanks! I dont know but I thinks so. There is also a dedicated THR amp for acoustics.

I believe there is a metal version of the thr10 but Im not sure.
My THR5 is acting up. I bought it used from a nephew and it worked great for a couple of years. Anyone know about getting it repaired?
“We Rock 4 PeAce ☮️ “ Hey my Good Brother help pray 🙏🏻 for the movement and Rock 4 PeAce 🙏🏻 Dana
Can it be connected to an external speaker?
If so, how?
Im not sure tbh. Youll have to google it but I dont think you can.
@@Gaslight.Guitar it sounds really good in your hands, thanks for replying.

Yes… I do exactly that with the headphones output. Simple
You look like Roy from IT-Crowd!!
Lol just looked him up. Maybe a little bit?? Haha😂😂👍
And why not a "nux mighty air" which has no cables either for the guitar and the smartphone?
I have this amp since many years. There was no nux mighty air around back then. ;))
Can I use it with an electric violin?
@@ggfla6735 uff. I dont know but it should work somehow? 😅
what settings you recommend on it for the classic rock sound?
Hi, I would use lead channel with gain pretty much all the way up. maybe a touch of built in reverb.
What is the firmware version? Thanks!!
I dont know. Its stock from 2014 or something ;)
@@Gaslight.Guitar Thanks!!
Can u connect it direct to pc to record?
Yes
how does it compare to the orange micro dark?

What kind of batteries
Wish it supported Bluetooth. Hard to find a phone or tablet that has a headphone jack anymore.
Mine is mk1. Quite old. New ones support Bluetooth dont they?
@@Gaslight.Guitar I don't think so. It's not listed in the specs on the Yamaha web site
@@bmrbca3658 oh yeah. I think the big ones have Bluetooth but not the thr5. Didnt know that.
USB-C jacks support audio out

Who has jack nowadays on their phones??
Video is almost 5 years old. 🫡
