Hello. Thanks a lot for your great and really well explained video. As a 52 years old beginner with electric guitar (better to start older than never ...) I'm about to receive my Christmas gift with a ThR 10 ii amp and a Squier contemporary HSS guitar. So your instructions to start how to use it are just perfect for me. I can't wait to receive all this and try to catch the Purple rain sound , you killed me here ... My young era ! So thanks again, and keep safe.
Thank you very much for your very kind feedback. If you’d like any further help check out my weekly live videos over on Facebook. Hope you enjoy your new gear and you take care also. Thanks.
Andy Chapman glad you found the video useful. If you have any suggestions of videos you would like to see just let us know. It’s a great amp, one of my favourite practice amps. 👍
Thanks to 15 minute guitar for the tutorial. I've always been unsure of how to get a good tone through the amp. After following your advice here, this has really helped me. It's actually not too confusing to get a good tone following your approach. Thanks Rich :-)
Wayne Salter glad the video was helpful. We completely agree it’s not that difficult to get good tone. Too many people over complicate things when keeping it simple is the way forwards.
The computer interface opens a wide range of settings, which may change depending on which cabinet is chosen, but you can make real tweaks to the compression, filters, delays, effects, reverb, all separately, set gain and master volume, then save as a custom preset of whatever name you want. When the cab is connected via USB, every change can be heard in nearly real time, and then pressing and holding one of the five preset buttons stores all those settings. You just press that button away from the computer, and even tho the dials lack those extra features, the stored settings are all there - just know that you can't make any further adjustments using the dials, except for Outputs; if you move even a treble knob, the custom settings revert to the current dial positions only, so be careful in a live performance. After tweaking custom settings on the computer, be sure to SAVE changes to the library, or they will vanish.
One of the "BEST", most Informative videos (with this Amp) on RUclips. You've been a "GREAT" help, thanks for all of your work and effort. I just ordered the THRII 30 Wireless, can't wait to get it. Wonderful job my friend...
I always prefer to have the master to 100% to emulate a “cranked” amp at low volumes. It’s also good to save each preset with a different cabinet type using the editor) this gives us options to edit without the computer later.. also have 1 preset with the compressor engaged (using computer & thr editor software), so you can choose or edit it without the computer
Just come across this, good informative video, the yamaha thr is a fantastic amp, but worth mentioning that the eq controls work in a completely different way depending on which amp model used.
Good to know! Got a new Fender Player Plus Strat (Olympic Pearl SSS w/noiseless pups) and a Yamaha THR10II but I’ve only been playing for 3/months so dialing in tone is confusing. I’m OK with classic rock sounds like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Beatles and Stones etc. But I’m not sure if the bass knob works on Fender Strat’s for breakup like LP? I don’t have the 60/hum because of the noiseless pups but I know Strat’s and LP are way different in their tone capabilities. Any advice if say, I want to experimental with breakup and what’s important/easy for beginners to learn as far as the knobs and matching tones?
@@greg6162 Hi, the best thing to do is research the controls and characteristics of the particular amp that the Thr is emulating. The vox one (ac30 crunch) works in a different way to the Fender (clean) one for example, the tone controls work differently. It's just a matter of experimenting to get the tone you're after.
As a new player with a Fender Player Plus Strat and a Yamaha THR10II this helps a lot. Only been playing a few months and this helps understand that bass gives you the nice breakup. Is this the same for Strat’s… I have the SSS but they are the Fender noiseless pickups?
@@TheGuitarCoach Oh yeah, my pleasure. No disrespect, just wanted to emphasize the value of this piece of gear. I can't express how AWESOME this piece of gear has been to me. I use it ALL of the time. Great, GREAT, review. Keep up the good work....and oh .....THANK YOU!
Ive got a THR10 and an Epiphone Les Paul Studio. Ive never got close to the crunch or lead tones that you achieved and Ive concluded its likely to be the pickups which are no where near as punchy as the Gibson ones on their Les Pauls. I suppose you get what you pay for but what might be a good humbucker replacement set I could try to get closer to the Gibson? I thought about a P90 and something else????
Very nice, well presented video! Thank you very much! I have the THR 10C and would love to see you demo that as well! Watching you go through the editor would also be very interesting, you have an excellent way of really zeroing in on all the details and creating the "Big Picture". Thanks!
So how u change from clean to rythem and lead .what keep dialing it in with your hand while u trying to play.not your fault but they made a great little amp but
This is pretty late reply but you can save presets with the 1-5 buttons above the amp settings by just holding the button for 2 seconds then you can switch between anything of them quickly
Great vid thanks! I have the same amp so I’m going to start afresh with the tones now. Nice one. One question - when you start adding some gain from your chosen clean setting, does the overall, master sound start getting louder too? Do you then have to adjust the master volume, if you wanted to switch between the two and keep the same levels? Cheers
Darren Strange super glad you found this video useful. Yes I guess gain will add a perceived boost in volume however I would use the master volume knob to get a balance between the different settings. Hope that makes sense. Best of luck dialling it in, its my favourite practice amp. 🤘
The good news/ bad news is that in keeping with replicating the original amps , the EQ and gain setting are very different for each . I.e. you can't dial in on one of them , simply change the amp model , and still have viable settings. But that's where the 5 user presets ( controlled directly on amp ) come in handy .
What a beautiful guitar! Thanks for the video- Brilliant help.
2:21 the way you looked at your fingers cracked me up man haha! Thanks for the vid! :)

The best by far instruction vid on how to use the amp Iv just bought 11out of 10 mate 👍
Love your explanations. Great advice. Answered all my questions.

@@TheGuitarCoach trouble with this amp is the effects go from nothing to way too much with just a slight turn of the knob unless you use the editor.
Thanks for the video which i got lots of ideas from it. Take care.

That’s “AWESOME”
Thank you so much! I have the same amp, absolutely love it!
Excellent advice. You've got a great ear and play really well.
Thank you very much for saying so. That’s very kind of you. Lovely to see some nice people still exist in RUclips land. 😊 Have a great day.

MikeBristol some great ideas there. It’s what’s great about guitar and amplifiers everyone has their preference which works for them. 👍🎸

Very Great 🎙️ Review, Thank You Very Much Bro
Achref Roubhi Guitar you’re welcome buddy. 🤘
03:40 & 10:25 & & 13:12 settings sounds good IMHO
Was gonna get rid of my thr10 until this video Thanx
How is the Headphone Sound? (AKG Studio)
Very good.

It's a practice amp dude...but use a pedal if you want that instant change between clean/crunch

@@Maniaphobia Thanks for pointing those out!
Let's hear the classic U2 tone/settings genre, there Boy album tone. It's a distinctive classic.

Pitty they dont have a foot switch
thought you were about to play the "education connection" song LOL
Using a mic defeats the purpose of dialling in the sound on the Yamaha amp. May just as well be using a Marshall with a mic.
How to dial in your perfect tone: turn knobs. until you like it.
