I love Angela's acoustic tutorials and Norman's is a true treasure of a store. I have a 2002 D-18 GE and playing it is a special treat every single day. I also have a 2020 D-18 Authentic 1939 Aged, so I have both the forward-shifted and rear-shifted D-18's covered.
My D18 GE still has the original case. Somebody kept the good case and sold it with that one. Those tuners aren’t just cool tuners, they are Waverlies and you rarely see them on guitars because of their cost. But I love them! My D18GE has apparently had a whole lotta love! More than that one! Mine is pretty beat up, but it is still my favorite. I love it! Nice playing, young Italian girl! You rock!
The only thing that would have made this video better is hearing Angela’s beautiful voice. Great riffs and great playing. Very nice guitar and demonstrated well by a great artist. More please!
Played a bunch of D-18 GEs and they were consistently superb in every way. Just a hair shy of the D-18 1937 Authentic from the same era mid-to-late 2000s. Those were the best acoustics ever. I played 5 or 6, all were epic, and a couple were touched by the angels. I didn't play them, they played me. Very spiritual.
I may be old now but you're playing fantastic music from my generation. Keep up the good work, love your style! You're right up there with one of my favorites, Josephine Alexandra.
On song three it sounded like someone singing / humming in the background, but it was the guitar. I’ve never heard a guitar sing. It was amazing! Angela! Wow! Great work. Take care.
Great stuff and nice playing. The D-18 is the perfect acoustic guitar, in my opinion. I have a 2016 D18E Retro, which I dearly love. My only wish is that it had that soft V neck profile; I’m a fan of that, too.
@@el34glo59 they were called “Retro” and proposed to have pre-war specs, especially the forward, scalloped x bracing. I assumed they were the same as the D-18V that came out in the early 90s, just with a different tag line. But the neck definitely doesn’t have the “V shape that I recall the early 90s guitars having. Then again, I could be mis-remembering that, too. I just looked at some 18V guitars on Reverb, from that era, and the back of neck photos look pretty normal C shape to me.
Adirondack spruce top, golden era hand scalloped forward shifted bracing, Brazilian rosewood headstock plate, mod v neck, I believe 2007 may have still been fossilize ivory nut and saddles, solid mahogany neck and back and sides. Love my D18GE, beautiful example here. Maybe needed some strings but Angela killed it regardless!
Hey Angela, I have learned that Blind Faith song from the online lesson you did on the Fishman channel. I'm nowhere near as good, but getting there slowly :-) Will be following some more of those for sure. Thanks, and nice guitar btw :)
Of the martins ive played at guitar centers throughout my life. The golden era d18’s were always impressive. They had a huge open sound. Just like this. Very consistent within the model. It has its short comings as any d18 but blows away any modern d18 because of the shifted bracing. A guitar i would like to have but dont need.
@@afifmazlan im a technical player. These are open strumming guitars n they get very loud. Great head room. Any street musician that plays rhythm would benefit greatly from these. Got a d28 authentic a month ago. N this thing offers it all n does it exceptionally well. Finger style n classical. To open or flat picking. N melodic structures with an optimistic tone. While my j45 is a pure blues guitar. What i write on one cant be played on the other without it feeling weird.
A video on youtube has all the Everlong performances by FF on Letterman's show - includes a clip of Dave talking about the band coming back to the US when the rumors of his death circulated, how he loves that song etc. It's pretty cool.
Remember The Munsters? Lemmo would make a great Frankenstein (Fred) @Halloween. Can't unseen that 6'-4" vs 5'-4" Guitarist #FreakShow Ironic, since Angela has giant man hands...she is such a Great Player. #MollyMalones is a nice intimate room in back and great sound. Located on Fairfax near The Grove Mall and Canter's Deli Open 24hrs (Rocker Hangout - Jams).
That grain is very nice. Love to see some color differences in the mahogany. One solid color is so boring. Someone played the hell out of that. What a beast

You can tell a great sounding guitar before the artist even puts a pick to it. It responds to every little squeak, tap, and touch while she's handling it and flipping it over. It's just begging to sing.
Easily the ugliest guitar ave seen on guitar of the day. Never worth 3 n a half gs folk as talented as them could make any guitar sound just as good as that one
Angela Petrilli IS the REAL DEAL. ALWAYS Authentic and Entertaining. She is "The Golden Era"!
Thanks A.P.,
T.F.
Great to see Angela back at Norms! And I have such a long way to go until I can play Can't Find My Way Home anywhere near as beautifully as that.
Keep practicing, I love playing that one, sing along and some cold beers 🍀
Angela is always a treat!!!!! Thank you!!!!

Some csn&y would sound cool on it too

Facts. I mean the modified v is basically a soft v now
