    I want to address the comments asking if I've had Botox, fillers, etc. so people can have the truth. I've never gotten anything done to my face. I don't judge anybody if that's the route they choose, but I chose to use topical treatment because I want to be in control of my own face and, also, it's not desirable to me to inject my face with stuff. I like my face the way it is. As for my lack of facial expression, I'm still getting used to filming myself, so that's a part of it. And being an extreme introvert, coupled with my reserved nature, and the fact that in my day to day life I'm teaching meditation & yoga, as well as providing hospice care (these are my occupations), my face looks the way it looks. What I'm trying to say is that we wear our lives on our faces. Everyone does. And I've never been a bubbly, over-animated person, so it would come across extremely artificial if I faked a persona that isn't who I am. Additionally, tretinoin imparts a "pulling" (tightening/firming) effect on the skin, which, is both good and bad. Yes, it makes the complexion appear flawless, but there are definite downsides. I can't open my mouth too widely, or I start to peel immediately, for example. The skin, before it peels (mine peels every day), becomes very tight, and taut, and tightly pulled skin looks ultra smooth and shiny, and then it sort of "cracks" (mine does anyway), starts to flake, and then peels away. New fresh skin is then revealed. This is the mechanism of Retin-A. Ultimately, I take it as a compliment and a testament to the power of this product, if people simply "can't believe" I've achieved my skin with the use of topical cream alone. That people believe me or don't believe me doesn't change the truth, and beyond what I've said here, I can't do much else. It's not my concern to convince anyone of anything. But I did want to address this, since I see numerous comments asking, speculating, and accusing me of not being honest. I have no problem being clear and upfront. This is who I am. I must add, too, for those who have asked tactfully - thank you, by the way. Happy holidays everyone.

I also used hyaluronic acid for about 6 years too and some great creams, but nothing crazy in terms of regular expensive facials etc. Keeping stress low is also critical.

      @@vicvega5971 there are major differences between sunscreen ingredients though. For instance the highly popular Avobenzone works only 2 hours, after that it not only stops protecting from the sun, it also starts to create free radicals. So you should be washing it off and applying a new layer every 2h and nobody does that. The new generation ingredients like Tinosorb are far superior and do not form free radicals.

      Ve’rshaylamoriee Martinez well I’m white and have used this same Retin product for years and I’m 44 and everyone thinks I’m in my 20’s! I’ve also avoided the sun and do not smoke. So it isn’t specific to race, it has a lot to do with lifestyle, sun damage, smoking and other factors that cause damage to skin and lighter skin is easily damaged by the sun. I have seen all races skin damaged and aged due to sun and smoke exposure not just to lighter skinned races.

      Heather Melancon I know lol, it’s just an old saying. I’m an esthetician I’m well aware. Every one should wear an SPF an avoid bad habit! 😁 Melanin does help protect your skin but even darker skin people can get sun cancer.

    • @bemydinosaur13
      @bemydinosaur13 4 года назад +10

      Heather Melancon lol come on heather look at the broad trends. White people simply don’t age as gently in most cases, regardless of skincare, smoking, etc. Of course those things do make a difference and anyone of any race who takes good care of their body and skin will age more gracefully than they would otherwise. But white skin is more photosensitive, and white genetics are markedly different in this regard. Sorry 🤷🏼‍♀️

      She looks her age. And looks like her genetics gifted her with clear skin. People who challenge themselves ( users of vet.A) , look like that at 50. It is not for everyone. Many chose other forms of age control. I have seen what fillers do to people. I dont want to look like alien or as elderly person with pulled chin and a hamster chicks. Your age will show anyway. Age is not always wrinkles. But yes, I have seen people using higher strength reverse partially hooded eyes, and those who stick to 0.005% do not achieve much other than glossy skin.

Patience is the most important thing; and sun protection. It does address both discoloration and bumps. My skin today, currently, has no texture whatsoever (it's glass-smooth). Good luck! I’ve been using Retin A since I was 36 and I’m now 45. My skin SHOCKS me everyday. Post acne pigmentation fades very quickly when using Retin A. I had extreme peeling when I started. I dialed it back to a couple times a week and let my skin acclimate to it. Wearing makeup in the beginning is almost impossible because it makes the peeling look much worse. It is 100% worth the side affects. I don’t wear foundation at all anymore. My skin doesn’t need it. It’s SO liberating!! SO worth it.

      Jenna Jones It will!! Just keep in mind that’s it’s a slow process, most people don’t start seeing texture changes until 1 month, pigmentation evening until 3-4 months, and wrinkle reduction until 6-12 months. It’s very slow, be consistent!! And please wear sunscreen, skin is more vulnerable to premature aging from the sun and also skin cancer from the sun when you’re using chemical exfoliants. Wear your sunscreen whether it’s sunny, cloudy, or rainy. Trust me on that one!! 😅

    I am now 69 and have some slight marionette lines that started appearing 2 years ago. Up until then had no wrinkles on my face and I still don't have any crow's feet or wrinkles anywhere on my face. People are shocked when I tell the my age. So genetics definitely plays a huge part and staying out of the sun and when you go out use a sunscreen.

    Thank you Jennifer for sharing. I started my tretinoin journey 4 months ago. I researched fully and read government studies. It has still been a bit rougher than I thought but not unbearable. I REALLY appreciate your tip on adding it to the neck as that area has been too sensitive and I was concerned about my face and neck aging differently. You look amazing and your appearance is really encouraging. 💖

    I'm 22 and I started retinol (adapalene and then tret) when I was 18 for acne. I also took Accutane for a few months in between. Ans honestly, my skin is often the best in any group. Even if I have pimples someone, my skin is radiant, glowing and honestly so bright. People often ask me what cream I was using to look like that and I recommend retinol all the time.
    I also use sunscreen religiously and I've linked eating clean with having less/no pimples
