- Well its September 28th 2021 and the 1850 is down being looked into for why the hydraulics acted up and why the engines is running like it is. The new hydraulic pump went bad ! It blew the seals inside and screwed up the pump, Now it has another new pump in it and that fixed now. Our problem is now and taring into it is the new bearing we put in last spring the the rebuilt injector pump was put on has a bad spot in it and the brass gear inside is bad so its been replaced. But the big problem is there is a shim that goes under the bearing and we dont have one and cant find any and not only that but we cant find any information on how you shim it up so the gears mesh right. My book shows the old and new style pump drives and how to take it out and put the new style in it but we cant find any information on the old style witch is what I have. So if anyone out there has the info on this please pass it along to me in the comments . Harry has been working on Oliver's everyday for the past 50 years and he has never seen one of these old style drives and he has no info on it at all. I talked to a guy Saturday and he has worked on MF's for about 50 years and he has never seen one like this ether, He even went threw his old MF books (6) on the 354 Perkins and they dont show the old style at all in them. So I called 2 Perkins engine dealers and one had no idea what I was talking about but the other one knew what I was talking about but said he had no info on them and he hadnt seen one of these old style engines in 30 + years ! So were STUCK ! So if anyone knows how to set up this gear drive with shims please let me know in the comments, I would love to know how to do this the right way ! Were just guessing right now so any info you might have please let me know. I hope you enjoyed watching and I hope someone out there can give us some info on how to do this. Bandit
