Hi Max. Looks really nice. It's good to see someone who is a really experienced carver designing tools. I've never actually used that style of hook knife. I've long had 3 different curves of the Northwest Coast style double edged type, made by my friend Greg Blomberg at Kestrel tool. I like that you can use both edges of the blade and I do use it pushing away a lot, but you also can't touch the back of the blade obviously, so that limits control and grip options.
Cheers brother. Yup and as far as I know the west coast and Japanese tools... Interestingly very similar... Have the bevels on the inside for the most part which is really a whole other thing all together!
I got mine a couple a months ago and couldn't be happier. It carves like a dream. I really like the handle and the leather case is legit. They use nice thread and burnish all the edges properly. The blade is dam beautiful and comes ready to use. I look forward to ordering the Twca Cam and wayfarer.
You roch mate! It was very important for me, after all those years of forging, carving and leather craft, that a semi-production version of my tools wouldnt lack any details I'd do myself! Thank you!
@@woodsmansfinest3814 If your ever in, or near Vancouver Washington and need/want some spoon material, hit me up..I always have some birch, maple and apple handy.
Very different. More of an Allrounder. Nic Westermann, Reid schwartz... All friends of mine and we've discussed tools a lot. Won't copy each other but design tools to get the job done in different ways. I made a video about the sanderson hook. If you know my work I don't think you have to worry about anything. Check my shorts.
Cheers... There is nonsuch thing as a full tang hook. Full or flat tang knives for strength are a bushcraft/Internet hoax. These are partial stick tang and the handle would rather burst than these coming lose despite them being used under series torque all the time. I've made and used them for over 10 years without having or seeing or hearing a single incident. Don't worry!
I like the shape of this blade, but I love the decorative ferrule on some of the other spoon knives on yours and Fadir’s catalog. The touches he puts on them are really nice

You as the builder should oversized all handles so like hammers and most tools the craftsman can cut their own handles for proper fit.Something everyone can do best for themselves. Thanks 👍
Why are all the tools so expensive? I have spoon carving tools (sloyd knives, hook knives, etc) from different companies that are absolutely amazing at a fraction of the price. When it comes to performance and functionality, the name on the tool means nothing if it works well.
You obviously have no idea what goes into tools, design, forging, websites, marketing, manhours. Expensive is a very subjective opinion and to be honest, they aren't expensive for what they are. You can have an opinion, but might want to really test it before stating it. Please go ahead and get every hook on the market, then test it for quality, geometry, accessories, steel type, edge holding and grain structure and make sure there is fair payment for all people involved and the safety standard at the forge. When you've done that, and only when you have done that, you can have an opinion like the one you state above.

It is very obvious you know and love what you're doing in your development of a fine knife. You'll be hearing again from this old woodcarver. Thanks.
Thank you Sir!

We do that. Also, you as a carver should be able to make your own as we all do. If you aren't a carver, why complain and comment?
